1. I think I will start as a human or Glitch , because it appeals the most to my gameplay style. I do not really like the Floran
2. I will try to build up a medieval style castle/village ( preferably in snow biome, because I like the winter, duh)
3. Gathering all sorts of Stuff and materials and decorate my castle with my won trophies from all my journeys
4. Probably for the beginning I will be playing with some of my friends only, to get used to all the gameplay mechanics
5. Guessing up to at least 150+
6. Im hope to find some neat medieval stuff to come up with, bows, maybe even crossbows but finaly I will try to gather a nice sword and a shiny armor
7. I think that I will expand my planned castle for a bit and then move on to build some watchtowers along in the wilderness.

Honestly, I'm not sure yet. Right now Apex, Human, Floran and Avian look most interesting. Glitch I feel doesn't have a significant racial bonus, and I don't like the smell of fish. ​

2. What are your plans for your first character? Rush through to the highest danger levels? Be a peaceful farmer?

I'm probably the slowest player Starbound will ever know. Compounded by the fact that I can play maybe 1 - 2 hours per week, I'm also somebody who likes to take his time with everything. So I expect to still be busy with my first planet when everyone else is cleaning up Tier 10 planets between breakfast and lunch. I'll probabaly build up a main base on the first planet I hit. So looks like the "peaceful farmer" option for me.​

3. What do you like to do in the game? Is mining something that never gets boring to you? Are you a treasure hunter?

Definately the one thing drawing me to Starbound (and Terraria, and Minecraft, and Stonehearth,and...) is the building/constructing/make it look pretty aspect. Also, I'm allways looking at how I can make my constructions more efficient, which translates to a lot of remoddeling. Woohoo! (This is also another reason why my progress is going to be sloooooooow.)​

4. Are you going to play with other people? If so, with friends or on a big/small public server?

None of my friends are the Starbound-types, so I expect to be playing alone mostly. I'd love to get onto a large/busy public server, but as mentioned in (2) I'm very limited in time. Still, I'd like to try and jump on one, every now and then.​

5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?

1 - 2 per week. I have 3 children, a wife, a mortgage and several high-maintenance doohickeys. ​

6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?

Definately ranged. Although I see in the videos so far that ranged is generally weaker that melee. But unlike Sun-tzu, I prefer to keep my enemies further (and my friends between me and my enemies.)​

7. Are you going to have one "Main" base, multiple smaller bases or just wander around? What biome do you think you'll enjoy the most?

Eventually, I'm thinking I will be building a main-base-type structure. Although I allways like to have "early warning posts" to spot incoming enemies, connected to the main base via tunnels. Tunnels are good....​

 

Firstly, I'll say that until the Beta settles down into a more stable state, I'll be treating this baby like a roguelike - I'm gonna turn on perma-death, pick a random race/character, and do the first thing that looks interesting until the game bugs out or I get killed!
But for a more permanent character...

1. What race are you going to play, and why? Do any of the races just not appeal to you at all?
Personally, I trend toward boring old humans, but novakid and glitch are definitely in the running (it's always weird deciding whether to capitalize fictional species - with 'human' being lowercase, shouldn't they all follow suit?)
None of the more exotic races appeal to me at all, but I look forward to seeing them running around.

2. What are your plans for your first character? Rush through to the highest danger levels? Be a peaceful farmer?
Everything! All at once! +) Nah, I have no idea. Once the final release is out, I'm definitely going to have a better handle on things - at this point, it's just too early to know! Probably not farming, though.

3. What do you like to do in the game? Is mining something that never gets boring to you? Are you a treasure hunter?

Again - we'll find out! In Terraria (yeah, I went there) I tend to really enjoy the sort-of-meta part where you build houses for your NPCs. I really hope that Starbound includes some sort of game-driven building projects like that, as opposed to simply building for building's sake (which is fun, but not so much my thing). Other than that, I like more focused gameplay, so I'll probably do a lot of quests, missions, and whatever else has a clear, definite goal.

4. Are you going to play with other people? If so, with friends or on a big/small public server?
I'd really love to find a nice, biiiiiiiiiiig server to hop in and out of. I'd love to feel like I was traveling in a galaxy populated with lots of other adventurers!

5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?
I mainline games when I get them, sometimes for weeks, sometimes in bursts for months or years. If the game has compelling mechanics and gets me invested, I could average 60 hours a week for...well, forever.

6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?
Gotta switch it up! I will never know which I love more, swords or guns. I tend to pick my battles - if there's something in it for me, I'll fight anything I think I can beat. If there's nothing to be gained, I'm perfectly cordial.

7. Are you going to have one "Main" base, multiple smaller bases or just wander around? What biome do you think you'll enjoy the most?
I would probably be based primarily out of my ship. I like to stay mobile, and while I would enjoy (like I said) some focused, gameplay-driven building, I'd probably avoid settling down. My favorite biome will always be: the next one I haven't seen yet!

A: I will probably play the Floran, because i love nature and the idea of a character who is one with nature itself. Race that doesn't appeal to me?hmm...i guess the human because I AM A HUMAN and it doesn't seem really interesting) i mean cmon you have the chance to make a character of another race and you pick your own race?...seems kinda boring to me xD

A: I like taking things slowly and prepared, when i play games i love doing everything i can, like EVERYTHING..i can so yeah i wont rush^.^ i'm the EXPLORER type of gamer^.^

A: Since i'm the EXPLORER (WOHOOO) type yeah, mining a lot and treasure hunting is something i really like

A: well i hope i will have someone to play with, but soloing is not that bad either uhm i would love a small private server with a group with whoom i hope to become good friends

A: The real question is how many YEARS?) alot i guess

A:I'm the melee type but i will experiment with everything i can i will EXPLORE forever and beyound!

A: I guess one main base idk, i really love all the wacky biomes you guys made ^.^

 

1)Apex. I'm going to play apex for a couple of reasons, Reason One: Planet of the Apes. Reason two: Commie monkey, Three: Vladimir Bananas.
2) My plan is to have fun, that is about it.
3) I loved terraria, so... terraria in space is a dream come true
4) I'm going to put up my own server for my clan.
5) A ton, probably days on end... I have no life ;-;
6) I shall commit mass NPC genocide with a giant laser gun.
7) Well... I will have many many many bases, because I get bored staying in one place. However with my spaceship I will generally make it my MAIN MAIN base.

 

1. I haven't decided yet but maybe the Hylotl? Three eyes are better than two right?
2. As with most sandbox games I usually try to do nearly everything in my first playthrough/character then make more specialized choices later on.
3. Admittedly, I've forced myself to remain mostly in the dark with the game, so I don't know what all there is to do but as I said above, I like to try to do just about everything. If it's anything like Terraria (which I don't see why it wouldn't be) a lot of the things you do tie into the others.
4. Probably not. I'm not big on co-op games and I don't have many friends. Plus unless something has been done about the hackers, I feel like games with random people may just end in infinite explosives anyway.
5. I put in 157 into Terraria and I like sci-fi more than fantasy, so probably around 200+ hours.
6. Ranged for sure. And if the enemy happens to be particularly cute, I might not kill it. >.>
7. I'll probably make one big one. I do really like building and the idea of making a huge awesome possum looking base really appeals to me. As for biomes, I haven't actually read to see which ones there are. I try not to get myself too hyped up for games otherwise it stresses me out, so I've forced myself to remain in the dark for the most part.

 

1. Apex i'm not exactly sure they look awesome and they are early stages of humans and what Chucklefish says i agree with they are like big brothers and no others just interest me, well i might be Avian so i can get up to the asteroids faster but i'm in no rush, but when full release is out i'm going to play Novakid, because having a gas metal just sounds awesome and that and a cowboy is just awesome and having them emit a bit of light is cool which probably wont be able to get with any other race.
2. I'm going to probably go slow as in there are many many farms you can make and endless content so that's like no brainier to not have a farm for something, and i'm going to play on maybe a Jungle planet just if i get lucky to land on one first, but no worries if i don't but its there to keep up the difficulty a bit even though its pretty hard at the beginning.
3. I sure played at least 5 times beating the game Terraria which can take idk 50 hours at least who knows just random guessing, but in Starbound since theirs so much content who knows what exactly i'm going to do but for sure Explore i like to grasp the feeling there's more to go to so i don't feel like i "beat" the game already.
4. I'm gong to play by myself because I don't like how people say your going so slow or they just go ahead and go to far doesn't get fun anymore, but that's with my brothers and I just feel like playing by myself.
5. Hours?Hours?More Like Years, at least as many as I can get.
6. I like being ranged which i can see doesn't take bullets like Terraria but if there's like just a Melee/Flail type of thing/Mage weapons that are just awesome i'm going to have to hold onto.
7. Main Base why would people think of multiple, takes more time, and you'll waste fuel going there and getting materials all over the place, just time consuming by alot, but if you have your items on your ship go ahead.

Tough choice to be honest, likely going to play either the novakid, human, or avian. Sadly the Apex does not really appeal to me while the floran and Hylotl are just slightly above apex.

Hm When it comes to any game like this i will likely play the middle of the two, i will likely push my luck in certain areas but know my limits

Likely going to try and drag my friends into the game, if not a bit of solo action. Probably planning to do what the main news updates are doing and make a silly blog thats focused on another characters escapades

About as many if not more hours then i spent on terraria :I loved that game and this game just makes things better

Melee all the way. I mean whats more honorable then clashing blades with another

I will most likely do something similar, create a "home" on each planet or planets i like, and make small out posts deeper into the world and on worlds im harvesting for resources.

Avian, definitely will be my main character's race.
They have an interesting lore, and appearance, their architecture is great. I can't wait to explore the old temples and see what sort of things I could find.
I don't think the other races do not appeal to me, each of them is very cool in their own way, and I will most likely have one character of each race, or more than one.

I don't really plan to rush through the highest danger levels, but to explore things in a good pace. Perhaps farming can be done by a secondary character, after I just immerse myself and have a blast with the initial stuff.

I guess I mainly like to explore and build. Mining isn't too boring, when you can take a break and do many other things, if all the features we have seen announced, are going to be indeed implement.

I want to play with my girlfriend and friends, but a public server also sounds good. I have never joined such game when it's most likely to find servers which can be quite populated, since I usually bought retail games.

Uhm... I don't really want to imagine, it will be a lot, if possible!

Melee, I'd say, but it should be good to have another ranged weapon at hand just for the hell of it. I won't go around slaughtering everything that moves, specially when we see peaceful enemies.

I may have multiple smaller bases to wander around the galaxies, the possibility to travel all over sounds so good, that I don't think coming back to the home planet everytime is a good idea. Gotta think strategically and place bases around the areas, we will see.
EDIT: Oops, I forgot about the biomes, I think a jungle or forested biome, with those crazy trees seem like my favourite for now, seeing the biomes video really made me look forward to exploring the planets, so it's hard to pick just one.

1: Can't decide between Avian and Hylotl... I like my Avian guy better, so probably Avian

I'm horribly torn between glitch and human, but might have to go glitch due to their ships and buildings.
I will be playing with friends and will try to make a bustling homeworld, and then extract every other planet but mine of all its resources.
Building and Fighting, I'll have to get someone else to mine, it bores me to tears
MP whenever possible
Probably melee if I go glitch, just cause of the awesome swords in the game and it fits more, unless there is an auto crossbow or something
Lava biome, 'nuff said, I will make a castle kinda like the Mason castle from chivalry, because I can

All races have their appeal and i haven´t decided on one yet. I´ll just see where my stomach points to.

I have none. I have not looked to deep into all the gaming details (just enough to be interested), so i can explore and enjoy the game to its fullest.

I think, as in terraria, i will have fun exploring caves and dungeons and reaching the higher tiers of equipment. Like better movement items and weapons.

I played terraria almost only in single player, but i will try to find a friendly server so i can share my gaming time with a few cool dudes (or dudetts).

It entirely depends on the game and how its going to be. Maybe only 20 hours and i will get bored or, like in other games before, i will lose my contact to real life and spend hundreds of hours within the game

It depends on the weapons i can find. I am open minded to all damage potential. A good micture is always essential. And of course i will challenge all enemies!

If i happen to play multiplayer i will probably have one main base were my friends can come visit me and pay me homage. Otherwise i´ll just wander around from planet to planet.

1. Floran for sure. I always somehow manage to start a new game as something green. Just seems... natural.
2. I'm going to take it slow and try to enjoy the game as much as possible first time through, get a real feel for it.
3. Mining and crafting but i love finding random loot.
4. I'll probably be playing with my old house mate. I would like to think ill host a little server one day in the future but we'll see.
5. Judging by how much I've played Terraria in the past its probably going to be around 3-4 hours a day if possible. However i have just bought a house and am in the middle of renovating so we'll see i guess.
6. I always end up going melee but i prefer ranged. If the two are well balanced in this game it should make for hours of fun. And hell yeah I'm going to fight everything i see, that's my thing. those rabbits will never see me coming.
7. Man base is how its done, I've never made smaller bases before but in such a huge game i may need to. This could be the start of a whole new style of play.

Either way I am really excited... BRING IT ON!!!

• I'm still trying to decide between Human and Glitch. I don't really like monsters and stuff as my main character, but the medieval setting of the Glitch is just too good for me to let it slide. But I'll probably mod the game to have the medieval setting with Humans instead of Glitch in later playthroughs/stable builds.

• Planet Explorer, for sure, build a nice setting in the first planet, main planet, if you will, and go hunting new adventures on other planets.

• I can tolerate mining, though is not like i enjoy doing it, at least not in previous experiences, but treasure hunting in the thing for me. Seeing those chests just make my eye glow. *-*

• I'm not sure if any of my friends will buy/play this game, so, for now, just me, myself and I.

• I don't have a freaking clue, I played about 60h of Terraria, taking into account that I didn't really like it, with that in mind, I would say more than 60.

• I'm very versatile and usually get tired of just one type of weapon, I'll go with both melee and ranged, especially if there's going bow and arrow, sword and bow for me, please. Yes, kill ALL the enemies. \o

• Like stated above, I'll have a main base in the first planet, and a few other settlements in the planets I explore. I think I'll like moon/asteroids biomes the most, but I can be 100% wrong on this one, I'll just have to play to know for certain.

- Probably more than I'd care to admit

- I think I'll go with melee primarily, I will only fight every enemy if I'm not in a hurry.

- I will have multiple bases on different planets to hold resources until I have built a main base large enough to hold it all.

 

1) I imagine I will play a Human first (maybe based off myself)
2) I'm gonna leisurely waltz across the galaxy slowly progressing, and just find fun in whatever i can
3) I really enjoy mining, but i think my favorite aspect of the game is seeing all the unique wildlife and planets there are out there, I guess i'd be more of an explorer
4) It depends on if i can find anyone who will run a server or play the game with me haha, i imagine the game will be twice as fun when theres more people involved
5) COUNTLESS HOURS as much as i can juice out of the game until it becomes boring (which it probably wont)
6) I am going to be a mix of ranged and melee, more situational i guess, I will only fight if i'm being threatened i'm not the kind to just senselessly murder everything for no apparent reason
7) I am going to have a main planet for storage of unique finds etc. but will definitely make outposts on every planet i find

I am probably going to play as either floran(because of their awesome backstory and lifestyle and i love to RP)or Hylotl(Because they can look realy bad@ss(<<my pic<<)and they are japanese themed ,and i love japan.)

Get an epic evil/vampirish sword and a handgun ,build a mansion,make an evil guild loot, and destroy planets muhahahaha.

Role Play like a boss and find weapons and armor that suit my role.

Sword and handgun.I hope the shield thing won't be too op .I will kill not only every enemy ,but also every player if he isn't in my guild ofc.

If it won't be too time consuming i will have my own secret mansion and a base for my guild.
