1. What race are you going to play, and why? Do any of the races just not appeal to you at all?
I'll most likely be a human because it's what I normally am in games that have the choice. But I might look through all of them at the different tech they have and decide after.
2. What are your plans for your first character? Rush through to the highest danger levels? Be a peaceful farmer?
I'll explore most planets that I came across, gathering materials.
3. What do you like to do in the game? Is mining something that never gets boring to you? Are you a treasure hunter? If you're a builder, what do your houses/bases generally look like?
Exploration, crafting and building. (Don't know what I will build though)
4. Are you going to play with other people? If so, with friends or on a big/small public server?
Not at first, but I may once I get used to the game and have reasonably good stuff.
5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?
As many as I can.
6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?
Melee because it involves the most risk and doesn't need extra items EH. ammo or mana. And I will kill everything, unless I find out that it's too hard to kill.

 

RACE?! Novachildren for certain! They look absolutely phenomenal! I love the glowy, squishy, gradient, smooth, transcendent, resplendent look they have about them! I love you for making novapeople starbound guys!
Doing things?! Slaughter whole planets, steal all their resources, raze npc towns TO THE GROUND
I would verily enjoy doing everything the game has to offer, first couples of days I'll be exploring, finding things, discovering secrets oh and space travel, definitely one of my favourite parts of Starbound so far!
Friends! Friends forever, playing with friends, talking with friends, occasionally soloing to get resources but otherwise, FRIENDSHIP

IF THE GAME COMES OUT NOW 8 HOURS A DAY, if after school begins, meh, still a good amount of time, at least an hour a day if I have the time! So... like, probably until the sun explodes.​

 

1. I am going to play as one of the tree guys because there boss idk why they just are and my chars name will be Neebs.
2. My plans will be finding a very dangerous planet like a frozen wasteland or dangerous forest with a town of people and I'll fortify the town save the climate of the planet help the citizens of the village/town and become a hero, and in the end after I got all my gear, have an awesome house, and have explored at least 10 planets I'll build a statue of my self and start a new char.
3. Get the greatest gear I can if the gear I want requires mining I'll mine if i have to go explore a tomb or dungeon for it I'll do that too as long as I get awesome gear and have a great bunker/house/fortress I will be happy.
4. Most of my friends are console gamers so if it comes out for console yea, if not I will probably go solo.
5. Not sure probably a lot I don't count the hours I play a game soo yea, waffles.

 

1. Novakid, I suppose. You certainly don't see many games that let you play as sentient plasma cowboys. It would still be nice to have a bit more to choose from, but that'll probably have to wait until post-release.
2. Nothing particularly unusual, though i'll probably be living off looted supplies more than farms.
3. Lots of exploring, punctuated by work on converting much of my homeworld into a single massive facility.
4. As much as possible! Except for when i'm away from home, in which case a SP universe will kept available.
5. A lot.
6. Equal parts melee and ranged, with a focus on close combat. Shotguns and broadswords! (plus the occasional explosive)

Basically how I play Terraria: DIck around, get better armor, go to tough places, rinse and repeat.

I dunno; kinda; I guess; like houses/bases.

Yes, probably with my friends and or girlfriend if she gets it.

ALL THE HOURS.

I usually carry a couple of weapons: A sword or two, some guns, a boomerang maybe, and a couple of explosives and switch between them depending on which one fits the situation best.

Definitely going to start with an Avian. I've liked the creature design for Avians ever since I first saw them.
At some point I'll have to roll a Glitch too. Can't not like epic robot knights. I definitely see some Megaman style characters in the near future

If any race doesn't appeal to me as much as the others it would have to be Humans.
I find it a bit boring playing a futuristic or fantasy game as a human being because there are so many different options to explore.
Playing a human for me is ignoring half the point of playing a game where you can be something different and experience a world vastly different from our own.

For my first character I'm going to push toward high-tech high danger as much as possible.
I want to be going places nobody else has been and pushing the limits of what my available gear can do.
I really want to design my first character as an avatar of myself, but also be grounded in the game world.
Avians are perfect for that from their racial background as they seem very sheltered from the rest of the universe, even though they have access to impressive technologies.
While they would have a rich understanding of their own culture and practices, everything else out there would be either something new and marvelous or a dose of culture shock.


3. What do you like to do in the game? Is mining something that never gets boring to you? Are you a treasure hunter? If you're a builder, what do your houses/bases generally look like?

I like to explore new places, run and gun, and build epic levels both for myself and for other people to play through.

Aside from diving into all the content (and reading every little bit of lore i can get my hands on ) I'm really excited to see how far I can push the game's building elements.
Currently I'm a regular Minecraft player and build a ton of scripted/automated content on my server with the help of command blocks and the Redpower mod.
I'm hoping Starbound has similar support and some world editing tools so that I can create adventure worlds with their own involved stories and content.

I haven't ever done any streaming play throughs / let's plays, but I really want to have a go and build a play through and how-to series on YouTube when I start playing!

I intend to host a server as soon as the server software becomes available. Depending on my gaming group it may even be public.
I'd love to play on a massive server with tons of other people.
I think one of the biggest aspects of Starbound is the ability to explore different worlds and places. It would feel a bit empty without meeting new and different people as I went. Totally have to find an RPG server at some point.


5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?

Easily going to play 200+ hours.
I remember getting into the Minecraft Alpha back when it first went up for sale a few years back and easily clocked 40 hours in my first week just in single player (our diploma year pretty much stopped studying and played minecraft full time for a month when it came out )
When I got onto a multiplayer server with local friends I was on every available hour of the day for months.


6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?

I always prefer either extreme range combat with precision weapons or fighting up close and personal with swords, rapid fire weapons and anything that makes lots of explosions.
I'm intending to fight any mob i come across, especially if its way out of my gear bracket. I play a lot of monster hunter in my spare time and love playing out David vs Goliath style battles versus some massive monster bristling with fangs, claws and menace.

I look forward to playing team-based survival games in either randomly generated worlds or pre-built complexes. Sandbox games are an awesome medium for battle royale death-matches.

 

1. Apex Because i act like a Ape or monkey what ever they are
2. My first plan as Apex is going find Bananas, because that's what apes love. Shoot the shat out of everything! I
3. What i plan to do in the game is to build a futuristic building.I like to do a little of everything, so nothing gets to boring( i have ADD, when you have ADD everything tends to get boring quick.)
4. I might just play with my friends, but if it turns out that playing on bigger servers is more fun i might just do that.
5. I dont know i have to play the game, to figer that one i have to play the game, if its to repetitive i might only play it for 10 hours at the most.
6.I prefer ranged with guns. .I will only kill things that i can kill.

 

I gotta say I'm having a hard time deciding which race I would prefer to play, although I'm probably not going to be Apex. Or human. It's kind of infuriating to restart some games many times but I think with Starbound it might be worth it to eventually try many races. I was thinking of picking Glitch since my Minecraft skin is Quote, the robot from Cave Story, and they're cool, but I kind of like the Hylotl that has those many fins on the head. And then the Novakids came out and they just look badass. As do the Florans... I guess it says something good about the game design when so many races are appealing.

I'd probably do a lot like Minecraft where I'm fairly mixed, a builder and an explorer. But I love making cool looking buildings and artwork and I tend to spend a long time on one area. I'd probably tend to want to go back to some kind of central base so I'm kinda hoping they'll let us trick out our spaceships and build there so that I could take the home base with me. SO COOL. Now if you'll excuse me I have to leave this page because it's being invaded by Nyan Cats.

- Still can't decide, they are all awesome ! But i prefer Floran, Avian, Novakid or Human. Can't say why for sure.

-- Avian because of they tribe-alike (Haven't read the lore, and don't know much about any race so i might be wrong) look and culture. Can't say much about them, just like 'em and that's it.

-- Floran because of they nature-friendly look or just... because they look like ideal explorers. Flowers of the nature that have escaped from the chains of their planet, with hearths full of desire for knowledge, ready for discoveries of lost cultures, not so well prepared to the bloody battles for treasure and glory, full weird and creepy creatures that even lord Lavkraft couldn't think of, and with body and mind willing to explore boundaries of our galaxy.

-- Novakid because of their cowboy-ish. Who knows what their lost cultural roots might lead. What secrets of their story are still hidden, forgotten, buried deep in the sands of never-ending time ?

-- And of course great and mighty, weak and frail, intelligent and inventive, foolish and (Sometimes) short-sighted little bugs called Humans. Spreading fast, just like a virus, inventors and artists, brave warriors or just silly meat force. Who ever knows what happened for that many times ? Our history might be twisted as a mind of a gloomy genius or straight as a road to the bright future. Looking forward to see them as all of the other species and really looking forward to make pizza death star.

I like all of the races, but these are my favourite.

-- Well, no ideas so far. This game, this world looks so big and who ever knows where i will end up ?
I think i will grab my imaginary friends (I don't have any real ones) and will start slowly exploring my starting planet, than another one and another one... Slowly revealing all the skeletons in the closets or creating more and more weird looking weapons... I don't know, we'll see.

-- Creating, exploring, destroying or just watching world burn while making new one. Better, stronger, faster and deadlier.

> Creating - Because nothing can compare with pleasure of new pair of shoes, smell of new potions or reflection of a new, shining weapon. What can be better than a new tower full of explosives, futuristic machines or a look of a new laboratory ?
Creating, building, crafting ! It's just gives me pleasure.

> Exploring - I can't stop thinking of possibilities that can give us feature and also can't pull myself out of thoughts about past. What can i found or make now, what was before my crew stepped on the soil of another planet ?

(Or what doomed our ancestors/ Pushed them to new discoveries) or what can i invent or find in the future ? What plants or lost trails of doomed civilisations can i find or have been already found ? So many questions and not enough answers
to quench my thirst. I just like to find new stuff, new loot, find new little pieces of big and complicated history (Like Mushroom war in Adventure time. Even if it isn't that complicated, i just like to research everything, every little detail )

> Mostly solo but - Yes i will and on a big roleplay server with a giant and dangerous galaxy to explore, full of treasure and secrets and deadly traps. Many stories of foolish tomb raiders, successful merchants and other heroes will be made there... Made and forgotten. Wars, parties, cities and many, many other things will await me there... I hope.


5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?

> No idea how much i will be able to. But not lesser than one or two hours a day if i'm gonna have free time.

> I like all of them ! And melee and ranged, everything ! Especially i like using something very complicated and sci-fi looking.

I am torn between Avian, Human and Nova. I like them all for different reasons.
The Nova look cool and have an interesting lore about them.
So do the Avian plus I really like how they look and their almost Mayan style ancient culture.
Humans look pretty cool too and I usually don't play human races so maybe I should be a human for a change?

Nah I'll go with Avian. Heh.. Oh wait maybe... *fades off into the distance*

Well I definitely want to find a planet which I like and start building a small base of operations there. From there I will explore the universe bringing back my materials and treasures to my base and expanding it further!

I also want to work on a Zoo type of building where I can capture and store my rare exotic creatures that I find.

I love building things, mining and over all being creative and I also like to make the things I do realistic in some aspects. For example if I am going to mine a tunnel out for resources I will decorate it as such that it has support beams and lights so it looks like it actually functions as it would.

I am going to host a white-listed server where people can submit applications to join the server. I will also hopefully play with my mates if they buy the game or pre-order it.

I like melee but usualy just because I don't like how most games handle ranged combat. But if this game has a solid feel to its ranged combat then I will dabble in both!

No I won't fight ever enemy I come across.

 

1. Going to play as the Glitch. Most of the other races don't appeal to me. The Floran and the Avian are ok, but all the other races are just blah for me. I would really like a reptilian or insect like race. I feel the other races belong in the game they just don't fit me.
2. My first character will probably be rushing as far as he can get building small houses where he needs them completing quests and raiding all the dungeons he can find.
3. I like to get my character as powerful as I can before I move on, so my in game time will be spent rushing around the planets looking for all it has to offer then moving on.
4. Solo at first then make new characters and start over with a few friends.
5. I put 300+ into Terraria before it got to repetitive, so I can easily see myself playing for well over 1000 hours.
6. A good mix of both and at first I will fight everything, till I learn what I need to fight for drops and what is dropping useless stuff and adjust what I fight accordingly.

 

1. Honestly, not sure. I may choose Novakid or Avian or even Glitch. So far, Glitch has the most customization.
2.I hope for my 1st play through to be on a server with my clan. I will probably try to play different aspects of the game at a medium pace.
3.I am not a builder, usually just build a small wooden cabin in terraria. I like exploring and fighting mobs with cool weapons.
4.I will try to play with my friend, or on my clan server if there is one. Or both.
5.Considering that I have 700+ hours on Terraria, I expect to play a great deal of SB.
EDIT:6. I usually play Mage, but seeing as this is a Sci-fi game, I will use a variety of weapons, and tame some mobs, but definitely slay many a beasts.

>Avian. I like their looks and also their equip sets temporary ability to float seems practical since most of my deaths in terraria came from falling. Apex is completely unappealing. Their whole style and design are ugly. They look like Klingon's more than anything.

>I'm going to destroy the entire universe except one planet, which will be re-built into the headquarter of my empire. I'll need loads of explosives for that though.

>Adventuring. Action. If I wanted to build stuff I'd play minecraft.

>I'm going to play with friends and also in my clan. And if neither is available I'll play solo as well.

>8640 to 17280 hours is my assumption but the game will probably have enough replay value to spend more time on it later on again.

I'd prefer to use my fists or knuckles in a fight, let my pets do the fighting or use the most unconventional weapons available.

 

I don't think you can do that, because then everybody playing Starbound could only play on the planet you left, right? We all will be in same universe. I think. Oh, you were just kidding....

 

Human all the way and any hardest difficulty possible.. Hopefully get a 10+ person server running if enough support is gathered.

 

Honestly i will wait until the final character creator is released before deciding, but its between Avian and Glitch, but i like the Floran too.

Treasure Hunter/Builder Easily. I like to prefer medieval themes with my buildings as well.
