1. Apex, because Apex. Probably Novakid after that because the style is really neat.
2. Get a musical instrument and mess about with that as soon as possible.
3. I like building above ground houses with living quarters, with a large underground area for crafting and storage.
4. I'm probably just going to play with my brother, because most of my friends did not like terraria much.
5. I'm going to play as long as I can forget the stuff I have to do.
6. Ranged weapons (I'm gonna shoot all the baddies sometimes!)

1. Glitch, robotic races are cool
2. Pretty much whatever i can do, but if possible lots of militaristic actions as well as scientific things like genetics, robotics, chemistry, etc.
3. Exploring, setting up bases and exploiting every last resource and using them to blow up anything in orbit... of the star.
4. Definitly going to play LAN games with my sister but I may join larger servers with factions support.
5. On release probably 2-3 hours a day.

My first character will be human, because I want a character that looks like myself (see avatar). I will probably try Glitch and Avian characters eventually, because they are the most interesting non-human races imo.

Take it slowly, enjoy the game and get the most out of it. See everything, experience everything.

I love exploring, in Terraria or Minecraft I would often get lost while exploring places, but I'd always find something interesting while doing so! I also like to spend a lot of time on building the perfect base or town, and to do that, I will need to farm materials of course! Crafting is also something I enjoy, as well as running around shooting stuff of course. So in short, I like to do pretty much everything.

4. Are you going to play with other people? If so, with friends or on a big/small public server?
Yes, with my friends. I don't know how servers will work or anything, but if they are easy to set up and maintain, and I can run one with 4-6 people without lag then I will make my own server for just me and my friends. If not, then we will try to find a small/medium public server.

5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?
Many. Easily 200+

6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?
My preferred combat style varies from game to game, but in Starbound I will probably be using ranged (Laser Rifles) but will also have a melee weapon available in case it's needed. I will probably fight most enemies I come across, yes.

 

1. Apex, because beards for everyone! I like all the races, especially because each race has high variations within itself.
2. Exploration with farming.
3. I don't like mining for things, especially when it comes to finding some specific ore you need for something. I plan on playing around with building, since it looks marvelous with all the furniture and decoration only pieces. Plus the way the placed tiles tile, makes me blush.
4. Hopefully I'll play with my group of online friends, though I've been so far unsuccessful. It'll probably be a cinch to get them to join once the beta is out. I can't wait to see all the multiplayer nuances, like being about to see what people are placing and stuff.
5. This is a hard thing to predict. Hopefully a large amount. If I get friends on board, it'll be more.
6. I'm usually not a 'kill all the things' kind of person. I'll probably use ranged weapons to defend myself from aggressive things.

 

1) Hylotl. I love to be like I said in another comment from myself 'a pseudo-Japanese merfolk guy'. And it would just feel great to reach places underwater that my Glitch/Novakid friends won't even dare to reach. There is not really a race that doesn't appeal to me.
Maybe the Apex, I don't wanna be a communist in a game that relies on YOU.

2) I won't rush the game. Definitely not. I wanna discover as much as possible, hang out with other intergalactical friends, and just random a lot too. I will just start out as a fisher or something, then becoming an adventurer, and after that I'll become an intergalactical hero (and musician ). But sometimes I will get out of my comfort zone and just go to a planet that is not suited at all for my level. But with good prepping and skills I will pretty much get some awesome loot from there to guarantee that I'm safe the next 2 hours of gameplay .

3) Mining, and also discovering oceans or underground lakes or something.

4) With friends, not sure if on a private or public server. Probably private.

5) HUNDREDS of hours. Definitely. I already spent 300 hours on Terraria, and I'm not sick of that game either (and I bought that game pretty much when the updates stopped, lets say March 2012).

6) There was going to be something like energy or electricity in Starbound, right? As a some sort of modern version of mana . Anyways, I think I will go mostly melee, but maybe I will use that energy type.

2) Build a home or small base to camp in for a while. Gather supplies, good equipment, explore. Generally do all I can on my first planet.

3) I like to explore and fight monsters. Doing a dungeon for some awesome loot is cool to. Mostly, I'd love to just build a sweet house and watch the sunset while drinking a root beer.

4) I plan to solo for a while. Later, more than likely, I'll play with my Clans

5) I played Skyrim for 300hrs. Starbound will surpass that.

When I first saw the classes I just fell in love with the Florans but as the development continues I'm starting to become more fond of Hylotl. But I haven't decided yet.

A mixture of all things really I want to take this game slow and get under every nook and cranny of it.

I've always loved to build and create things in games, so building will most likely be my most common pursuit. My houses have a tendency to be very rustic, ornate, decorative and full of little unnecessary details.

Play with other people definitely, I prefer to play with 2+ more people and I tend to shy away from big public servers. Playing alone is fun but as anyone I get lonely after a while and will need some company.

Wayy more than I should, my grades will probably slip due to this game. (300+ hours)

I like a mixture of things, but it will be very aesthetics based for me. Meaning that if I happen to have a really cool looking bow then i'll be a ranged player and vice versa.

2. Explorer, explore all the planets! Defeat all the monsters! I'm invincible!
3. Beat the shit out of monsters and build small homes in cool places.

Avian, it's what led me to this game. I have a bit of an obsession with birds, and the fact that we can make an owl avian makes me cling to this game like a barnacle to a rock. Humans aren't extremely interesting to me however, it's not that I dislike them, but humans in a game where I can be some other interesting race is just meh.

Medium-fast paced. I'm not going to rush, but I'm pretty sure I will get more done faster than some friends.

I think I'll join a small server and rp, and do a lot of things when things are quiet.

Playing alone is utterly boring, and almost defeats the purpose of a game where creation is key. Yet I don't want to join a large server because I can guarantee there will be griefers.

I prefer melee, but I doubt it will be very viable, so chances are I will go ranged.

1. Most likely human for my first character, but I'll probably try the others later on, starting with the Glitch. Or maybe mod in my own race...

2. Touch and go on planet after planet, gathering materials as I go, until I find one that I like enough to set up my INTERGALACTIC COMPENDIUM OF ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. Then I'll focus on building and filling said compendium. My building style is kind of blocky; I tend to start counting blocks as I place them to keep things lined up and symmetrical.

3. I like most everything that involves lots of exploring and collecting for some reason. So I'm probably going to spend most of my time underground, whether mining from caves, or delving in dungeons.

4. I would love to play with others, but sadly the only ISP available in the area is satellite-based, which means a minimum of 750ms ping, and a daily limit of 475 MB, except between 11 PM and 4 AM at night.

5. Lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots...

6. I mostly only fight when I know I can win easily. I tend to keep a sniping weapon for when I see them first, a melee weapon for most other situations, and incendiary/heavy/screw-everything-in-range explosives for anything resembling a facehugger/metroid/headcrab/etc. Screw facehugger enemies.

I don't like PvP, I socialize too much, but I think it would be ranged for monsters

 

1 - Human or Glitch, the former for the constant drive to create, to leave a mark - and the second for role-play.

2 - Find an HQ first - then build up. A spaceport, a city... or an underground base. Then, off to explore the stars!

3 - I would like to build a small empire, so I'll be doing the legwork for some time. Hand me a pick, please.

4 - With my friends, or with complete strangers - as long as they will have me.

5 - Way too many hours! That, or not enough!

6 - Fight? Unless it's a monster, I'd rather they pass me by. Then again, defense may drive me to violence

I like the hylotl style, and glitch/floran lore is very interesting for me. I'll make a human character to represent "myself". Other races will only be played for completeness.

Get a cozy ship/base and basic survival farming before doing any extensive adventure

Seeing hilarious random monsters and beautiful scenery is probably most enjoyable. Hate mining, hopefully advanced technology will make it better. I'll look for making base entrances integrated with scenery, and extend into a sprawling facility underground/water.

Mainly singleplayer, but I will play with real life friends or on small servers if possible.

Will definitely use ranged even if just to experience the gun options. I'll fight everything hostile I come across.

Probably going to end up being Human with my first character. And i dont really like Avians, Apex, or Glitch. Just arn't my style. Will end up one of the other races, probably in this order: Human, Novakid/Floran, Hylotl.

I typically like combat, getting loot, and if the game has a good story i will be all over that. I hate mining however, its just so boring to me, and because of that i tend to not be much of a builder either. Typically i make homes/bases out of early tier materials or something. I'm most likely close to a Treasure hunter out of that list.

Yes, planning on playing with a couple of friends. Of course they'll probably get bored within the first few days or so, and i'll be on my own.

USUALLY, i go with a battle-mage type deal. Melee and magic. But since this is sci-fi i'll probably just use melee. Ranged doesnt really attract me unless its a sniper rifle. I'll fight just about any enemy, less i can use it for myself instead. *Pulls out slave collar.*

 

1. I'll most likely have an Apex character as well as a Human character. Then after that, maybe a Novakid.
2. I'm going to definitely be a fast-burner and explore and fight as much as I can so I can get lots of the cool stuff and then once I am satisfied with my amassed wealth I will settle down at a lonely planet and never leave. (LOL)
3. I love mining, I love treasure hunting, I'm not much of a builder but I tend to have a simple above ground cottage and then an underground fortress.
4. I can play with other people, depending on how large the planets are I can definitely see myself playing on relatively large servers (15-20 tops I'd say).
5. I will most likely play this game for a good number of hours, probably 3-5 hours a day. I love games like these, and this trumps Terraria in every way and I played the mess out of that game.
6. I am used to being a melee character, but with all these new weapons I finally get to be a sniper in my favorite style of game.
