With a Sword and pistol, I will search the worlds.. The Human race pursuing the knowledge of the universe. Understanding my spec of an existence with the ripples of waves that reflect beyond the stars. Finding different sites for outposts that I may shelter for defense while progressing the dangers of a investigated site that may hold the keys to knowledge or that may contain objects of emmense power. I will thousands of hours to pursue my dreams while sharing the rewards with family and friends. The community that grows will fight with me or against me to defy my amassing of wealth while pursueing the common goals to survive. We are all Starbound.

 

1. Novakid, as soon as they are available. Glitch through the beta.
2. Rape and destroy everything.

1. Glitch or Novakid. I like the idea of a wild-western/medival race with a side of far-future.
2. I like to be peaceful, probably I would begin to make some sort of farm, or explore the planet and take as many things into my logbook as I can.

5. Well, I have about 350-600 hours on Terraria, so, probably about 600-700 total. (About how much on TF2)
6. I like axes, and magic. So probably some sort of trail-blazer or an archane melee.

Hylotl for sure, I like the way their fins look and their overall design, but if I had to pick the biggest reason it's probably the 3-eyed aspect of them. I know it's not THAT big a detail to others but for me it looks wicked sick.

2. What are your plans for your first character? Rush through to the highest danger levels? Be a peaceful farmer?
I'll likely enjoy the sights rather than rush through but my goal is to reach higher levels for sure.

3. What do you like to do in the game? Is mining something that never gets boring to you? Are you a treasure hunter? If you're a builder, what do your houses/bases generally look like?
Like most others I'll be exploring the crap out of everything. I'm a bit of a completionist and come from games like Metroid where exploring everything is not only a encouraged, it's a part of how the game is designed, so this sort of thing really clicks with me.

4. Are you going to play with other people? If so, with friends or on a big/small public server?
Yes! I'll likely get my friends and me to play on a public server just to make the universe seem even MORE alive (though turning off any potential global chat so as not to have the chat get spammed by every player ever).

5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?
Being perfectly honest probably somewhere around the 300+ mark if this game is as good as I'm hoping. Likely more with updates.

6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?
It really depends on how the weapons feel in-game. I've never had a real preference one way or another in games. As far as enemies go I have a habit of fighting everything in sight, unless there's an obscene constantly spawning amount of them *cough Terraria-corruptors cough*

Floran, definitely, because to me they seem the least human-like, and I love plants and naturey stuff like that. Also, most adorable little murderplants ever.

I think I'll kind of play it by ear, depending on the worlds I see, monsters I encounter, and players I meet.

I'm an explorer for the most part, and I'm likely not really going to have a very permanent place ever. Maybe the biggest I'll do is a mining outpost, the rest will be easily movable tents, campfires, and storage crates.

I'm definitely gonna Co-op with my best friend, and it's up to him for what size of a server if at all.

...There goes my social life.

Stealth/Sniper. Headshots for the win. If they don't know you were even there, they can't get revenge.
(Also, I love spying on people when they don't know it. I'll likely be hiding in the shadows alot.)
EDIT: Dammit, forgot the last part.
I probably won't fight every critter, I wanna observe and collect. However, if they wanna be an ass and attack me first, they can go to hell. With half a head.

 

1. Human. Nothing against the other races, but I simply don't feel comfortable playing anything that don't look completely like humans. The exception are Reptile races, like Argonian from TES series, also can't explain why I have this exception, maybe it's just because they usually look nice.
   
   
2. I plan to explore everything at first, not focusing in building things or doing researchs, I'm more into the pure exploring aspect of the game, finding new planets, creatures, missions.
   
   
3. Like I said before, mainly exploring and doing missions, and that's why I'm excited about Starbound, because there are actual missions for us to do. So yeah, I can say that mining gets boring after sometime, I need to see some progression outside of the mining aspect...I've done that enough for a entire lifetime on Terraria, haha.
   
   
4. Yes, but mostly of the time I will play solo. When doing multiplayer it will be with close friends only.
   
   
5. I'm not sure if I can answer that, but I can say that it will be alot. All I have to care about is my university, so lots of free time for me.
   
   
6. Both ranged and melee, I tend to make a hybrid of this on every game I play that gives the option to do so, so I'm expecting that Starbound gives us the option to focus on both combat styles. And yes, if I find anything hostile nearby I will fight it, but obviously not to death if I see my chances are low against that specific enemy.

 

1. Probably glitch at first, and then a human.
2. For the glitch, just try to get really good at the game, and then for the human, try a city-building project on my homeworld ^^
3. I love everything, whether it be resource collection, battles, building, it's all fun.
4. I will probably find some people to play with when it comes out. Mostly alone though.

6. I prefer ranged, as you can stay out of danger, but melee looks awesome too, and I will probably fight everything, unless it's extremely deadly.

Human probably, I like knowing my own story in any game like this and when I know the race well I tend to be able to create a richer back story.

I usually rush through games like this, that's what i did for Terraria. I plan on trying to do something different for this and take my time with it.

I like mining and exploring caves a lot. I'll probably build a lot too.

I'll probably play alone. Might go online if i can get some friends interested.

I'll probably put at least a good 50 hours into the game. Most likely more than that but its dependent on interesting building and the extensiveness of the spelunking.

Novakid. They're currently may favorite of all the races due to their lore. It also means my character will have an excuse if I forget something.

I'm probably going to be a mix between careful and haphazard, if that even makes sense. Taking risks when I need to, but acting incredibly careful for the rest of the time.

My main style of play is PvP/Fighting, so I expect to do that or quite a while, but when that gets old, I plan on building quite a few nice looking bases.

My first session will probably be a small one with my siblings.

I spent over 500 hours in Terraria. With the size it's going to be, I will probably spend over double that time playing Starbound.

Melee all the way. And I will slaughter anything in my path unless it happens to be a boss in which i will spam bullets from across the map Tank him hardcore.

I apologize in advance for all the comparisons to Terraria - they're difficult to escape.

01. Glitch. And no, all of the races seem interesting to me, I honestly chose Glitch because I liked the art in the character creator best.
02. Explore, explore, explore. I don't plan to rush and am working on the assumption I'll probably play it like I played Terraria - I just want to see everything. It's what I'm most excited for.
03. Similar to #2, I like to explore and craft. One of the parts of Terraria I enjoyed most was building homes and bases, so I'm hoping that's similarly entertaining here as well.
04. I am not a big online multiplayer guy - never have been. I like the escapist nature of single player gaming, especially in open world and sandbox games. Online multiplayer is usually just not my cup of tea. That said, I think my wife and I may wind up both playing together.
05. If it's anything like Terraria, hundreds. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I put more hours into Terraria this year than almost every other game I've played combined.
06. Melee, as it's typically been the way I could do away with enemies and get on with exploring as quickly as possible. I am not at all opposed to combat and weapon development, but I am much, much more interested in it as a means to an end (crafting armor, weapons, etc.), than I am with it for its own sake.

Really, really looking forward to the beta.

 

1. Floran. I got a flower sticking out of my head, i am set for life. I dont really like the avian race just because it doesn't appeal to me.
2. Everything I'm going to kill my enemies, then go home to my farm and play the flute on their graves.

I want to play either the novakid or glitch. I like all races, but being an energy form as novakid is cool. Also, i have seen different head designs for the glitch and really want to have my overly large brain showing!

I want to grind a lot, and explore my region. After getting the necessary equipment, i shall dive into the deepest of my planet.

1. The Glitch are going to be my main race, but the Novakids. Lore and appearance are my favorite ways to choose my race.
2. I don't have a perfect plan yet, but I definitely will spend a bit of my time finding, and constructing, the perfect home-world.

I just can't decide between Glitch, Hylotl, Avian, Novakid or Floran. They all have fantastic cultures and backstories and they all look awesome.

EXPLORE EVERYTHING then casually stroll through the game

exploring is one of my favourites, but the most fun thing for me has to be building the houses. Anything, everything so long as it's big.

Absolutely, with some steam friends of mine. Hopefully we'll be able to make it to the end of the game together.

ranged, as far away as possible or in contrast melee when its an assassination type thing. For example in dishonored or assassins creed.

Apex. Space age communist apes sounds like a recipe for success!

Explore some worlds, build some stuff. A balance of both.

Exploring is the main aim, finding new worlds and creatures should be great fun.

I will be playing with a friend and definitely won't be playing single player.
