BE AMAZING! Apex are monkeys, and I will be a different kind of Apex. The wild kind. Oh, and I will at all times be naked.

Its made by Chucklefish. These pixel games are amazing. Mining is cool for a little while, treasure hunting is my specialty, and they call me Martha Stewart.

I'm making at least 3. 2 private, 1 public.

Everyday. Every hour. I will get brain cancer, do you understand?

1. Glitch: A robot, heck ya!
2. Adventurer: Explore new places with some friends till we find an area with some good resources, then settle down and pool supplies to kill bosses.
3. I'm gonna do a lot of building: Mostly I do towers and such, but I usually expand a layer or 2 out, so my tower defies gravity... screw gravity. Also, I like to hunt for treasure, get cool new loot.
4. I'm gonna play on a private server with 2 other friends.
5. Hopefully at least 11 a week when I can manage.
6. SPACE MAGIC!!! J/K I will most likely do a mix of melee with a lightsaber, and ranged with a phaser set to kill.

Probably gonna do Human, Floran, Glitch. Maybe Avian, I believe it was said that they would have a flying ability. Unless the glitch have jetpacks, or the Floran have plant-copters, or Humans have a dumbed down version of Glitch jetpacks i might go with Avian, if only for the flight.

I'm gonna take my time, farming sounds like it could be cool. I don't really like the hustle and bustle of "hard mode".

Maybe an adventurous miner, my favorite part of Terraria was the mining and making lots of items so i don't think i'll be disappointed here. The fossil stretch goal looked really awesome, and I'll definitely try to recreate different fossilized creatures, might reanimate them though i might not. If Micheal Chricton has taught me one thing it's that dinosaurs are scarier than you'd think.

Undoubtedly, almost all of my friends that know of this game are excited for it. We played the heck out of Terraria and this could be our alternative
5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?
As many as i can without letting my academic performance suffer.

I prefer to attack from a distance, though i do like to go in for the kill and finish them off with a nice melee attack. If i think i can handle an enemy, i'll probably fight it.

Glitch most likely, love their appearance, their lore and find feudal culture fascinating. Apex probably second because I love science and Apex look pretty boss, humans third - fairly neutral but can relate to them.
Don't find new florans appealing at all - much preferred man eating pixies over androgynous space plant elves and would have likely played previous iteration at some point. Rest of races I don't feel strongly about and no real appeal to me.

Take my time, far from peaceful but definitely focus on roleplay and immersion over powergaming.

Builder/treasure hunter. As a builder I like to build small to medium sized structures with a fixed purpose in exotic places. Houses under the sea, giant mushroom farms underground, arenas in the sky etc etc.

Building things in hostile places is probably the most fun to me though - I really enjoy the feeling of survival and being hunted.

Will definitely be playing with gf primarily, not sure if stand alone or on a large server. (That RP server in the general discussion looks interesting.)

5. How many hours do you think you're going to play?

~10-20 a week.

6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?

Most platform type games generally have boring melee combat so range, unsure with this game but if there are things like javelins definitely range. Will kill every player/mob that it is beneficial for me to do so. ^^

 

I've had a change of opinion several times since I started following the development of Starbound. My two original thoughts were: Glitch seem cool, Florans seemed very cool until the recent dialogue and intro samples.
1. However, I've decided that Hylotl will be my choice due to their armor bonus.
2. This is because I would love to build an underwater colony and mining facility. I intend to look for some exotic materials and something cool to store into the domes I'm going to build.
3. I am as much a miner as an explorer. Once I manage to find a suitable home planet and build my initial colony infrastructure, I'll start collecting something special like people and items there. Considering that I used to build forcefield-domes underwater in minecraft, that'll probably feel most suitable for me again. I wouldn't mind eventually building them large enough to hit the surface and then expanding along the water.
4. I would prefer playing with friends but I currently have only one friend that seems interested in this game. Therefore I'll probably end up on some public/semi private server with a good community.
5. Dang, the hours.. Oh man, if this game will be what they claim, I can't even begin to count.
6. As I've heard there should be sniper rifles, I'll most likely try to snipe my targets from afar and avoid direct contact when ever possible. Scouting ahead for my friends should be interesting.

I'll play as the Hylotl until release, then switch over to Novakid.

I'd actually like to start off as a peaceful farmer, slowly building up my crops, until one day I decide to venture off in to space!!

Treasure hunter, all the way. I do enjoy mining and building, but there is nothing quite like the thrill of adventure.

My goal is to start a massive server which many many people can play on. Give the universe some real life.

During the beta my time will be mostly dedicated to figuring out servers and doing some modding. Once officially released I will pour more hours in to actually playing.

I'm going to attempt to avoid combat as much as possible, though ranged is what I will most likely use in defense.

 

1. Avians, because no one seems to like them and I want to be different. Definitely not humans because humans are boring.
2. Take the game really slow, I don't want to rush.
3. Adventure. And murder.
4. I'll probably just play with my family and friends.
5. Too many.
6. I'll be a melee guy, pretty tanky, to complement my brother who will be ranged.

Floran, I like the idea of being a wandering barbarian
I don't like robots so I'll never play glitch.

Wander around killing stuff and raiding tombs. Farming is just boring.
If my brother gets the game I will help him build as he always comes up with awesome designs.

Hunt treasure and ever bigger monsters. My buildings tend to be functional, temporary shelters

Public server. Running into random people or places they've been will be interesting.

A lot?

Ranged and if it moves I will shoot it.

 

• Avian. Decided to mess around with that race first in character creation, and liked their aesthetics. Plus it seems like there won't be many Avian players at first, so I wanna show some love.
• Exploring, meddling with crafting and building as opposed to focusing on combat and progressing quickly. If my buddies get it, I'll chill with them and we'll learn how the game works together. Not sure what I'm going to build; I'll have to plan something cool with my pals.
• Hopefully I can convince a couple of my buds to buy the game on release. We played Terraria together for a while, so I assume they'll wanna play this too.
• I put ~70hrs into Terraria and feel like I barely got through half of it, so I'd guess at least that much time on this, probably more.
• Melee sounds/looks pretty cool so far, I'll probably go with that. Depends what my friends do.

Human, I always start with human then try other races.​

A mad scientist that enjoys discovering different creatures and doing evil experiments on them.​

Build bases and fill them with what I discovered. Small bases look like a hovering airship to get rid off dangers animals on the ground, big ones are huge biomes with shield, armor and security systems.​

I hadn't do it in TR, but I will play SB with friends.​

Several hours per week.​

I prefer pouring bullets and explosives from a distance, but not too far. I usually choose an assault rifle with scope and grenade launcher as primary weapon to deal with most situations, but use sawn-off shotgun, C4 or AT-missile when in doubt. I'll have a good knife or axe as backup. Anything but sniper rifle, Javelin could do better.​

The only reason if I didn't blow every enemy I came across into pieces is ammo and time limit, or I have something important to do.​

 

1) Floran, I just love how exotic they are!
2) I will make a museum full of ores, minerals, fossils and other cool stuff. I will probably build it on a moon.
3) Mining is fun! And treasure hunting is awesome!
4) I will most likely play single-player, but maybe I'll play together with some friends.
5) As long as I can!
6) Ranged, I always freak out in the middle of battle

 

1. Hylotl, definitely.
2. Building houses is for wimps. Real men live in caves with nothing but their sword.

5. A good year and a half, methinks.
6. Sword + throwing weapons. Alternatively, flamethrower. Nothing else. Just the flamethrower.

I will probably be going with the Avian, or Hylotl. I don't really know much of the lore behind any of the races, but what I do know is immensely interesting for all of them which will probably be leading me to have one character for every race.

I am going to be finding collectibles. I want fossils, pets, unique weapons, etc. Just give me a shovel and I'll start looking for them. Once I am done with my initial rush of finding collectibles, I will probably slowly progress my way through the game ohhing and awwing at all the cool things the universe has to offer.

In-game I like to find anything that is unique, it gives me a special feeling, and also encourages my need to be a pack rat. Maybe one day I will build a museum to put all these special artifacts of the universe in. Also the instruments look nice.

I will be playing on a large server so that the new experiences never end. I mean just imagine finding a new world and having to race your way through finding the collectibles. because another ship has just arrived.

I can go ahead and tell you I'm going to be playing this game for far more than I need to. It will be like Animal Crossing all over again all the collectibles.
6. What combat style do you prefer? Melee, Ranged, etc. Will you fight every enemy you come across?
I tend not to be picky with combat, as long as I have a weapon that does a heck of a lot of damage I will use it.

 

1. Apex. This is something I decided pretty early. I rather liked planet of the apes, and I've always wondered why there has not been a single science fiction game out there with a ape race in it. Seemed like a pretty obvious thing. Now that I'm finally given the chance, you bet I'm going to take it. I also very much like the mental image of a monkey in a space suit, shooting guns.
And I dont like novakids much. They just seem a bit too much tryhard whimsy to me. I dunno.

2. Accumulate wealth and power. Build my strength until no foe may best me in battle.

3. Same as above, pretty much. I've always been very fond of games about the progression from something weak to something strong. The whole zero to hero thing, basically.
I've felt that if an rpg game does not start with you being just some pissweak pisspoor pissant that no one has ever heard of, and end with you being an allmighty god-being whose reach far exceeds the mear confines of the mortal realm in which you dwell, then you're just not doing it right.

4. prrrrrrrobably nnnot. I like doing things by myself if I can. I find it hard to properly immerse myself in a game if theres also some other tant running around talking about everything other than the game.

5. I currently got 208 total hours logged into terraria, and since this seems like its going to be terraria on massive massive steroids, I'm going to guess loads.

6. Melee tank out the bum. Maybe with a bit of handgun whenever things are at range, but the emphasis will be on melee gear.
And yes.
All shall fall before the might of the apex master race.

6.heavy weapons, there is just something about repeatedly smashing your opponent into the ground on the end of your breaker blade or watching there head explode from 2 km away that i just love. but i also like to be fast and silent as well

 

1. My first Race will be the Apex like the look of them and the aesthetics that come with them such as the housing items. Then after im done with him i'll make a Novakid.
2. I'm planning on playing very slow so that I can experience the game and take in the atmosphere. I will eventually play a little more fast-paced.
3. When I play, I like to gather materials and plunder but, what I like most is.... Being the Home Creator. Usually I'm the one who creates the house and I'm usually the electrician, Terrarria I was the wire man, and Minecraft I was the Redstone man. I like my houses that are like wide towers or multi-room castles where each of our friends has their own room and chests.
4. I am going to play with some of my friends. We basically called races and picked the ones that we wanted to play. We were planning on playing it somewhat of an MMO kind of. I was going to support my team and we would assign roles of who gathers what and who is getting what and pick our playstyle.
5. I'm definitely going to be playing Starbound 400 - 500+ Hours. Currently my most played game on Steam is Dota 2 which is at 547 Hours with terraria behind at 307 Hours.
6. I plan on playing a full Tank or a off Tank. Every game I play that has role options, I play a Tank.

Human! Because lately I am way big into being myself and exposing people to the eccentric, go-getter personality that is Kain K. Masters.

I wouldn't say that! There is something definitely about every race that I find interesting.

This will kinda tie into my next answer but I will probably do just a little rushing. Not for danger, mind you, but for ORES... Precious, precious ores!

I WILL BE A BUILDER. Mining will never get boring for me, because it ties directly into this occupation. My whole reason for playing this game will be the chance to construct my dream base. One that is functional and efficient and has all the comforts a player would ever need or want. One that looks nice, but not gaudy... One that looks clinical, but fun! So many cool building options to mess with, I'm getting just a little drooly...

I will PROBABLY play with friends (if I have any that can host a server). I'll probably even try to host the server myself although I may need to go through a third-party host for that, provided any third-party hosts offer hosting for StarBound...

I prefer to play in a small group of close friends, that way I can say "HEY. don't just dig random holes and blow everything up and make the planet look ugly", and they'll go "Okay, sounds reasonable.".

Nooot even gonna TRY to answer that one. I've got 800+ in Terraria so I ain't even entertaining the THOUGHT of postulating that...

I think I'll stick to ranged combat with a heavy, HEAVY emphasis on artillery and big lasers (provided the game has any). Explosions and deathlasers are kind of my thing...

I'm actually going to try and be as non-violent as I can. Even with monsters that are aggro on-sight. If they don't actually pose a threat I'll just run past 'em.

They'll regret it if they make me angry, though. Well, no, they won't, but I'll feel a lot better pretending they were filled with regret while I'm gunning them down with my deathlasers and explosives.

 

1. Florans are my first choice, but I'm like to try every races and eventually find the best one suited with me.
2. Visit several randomly generated planets and explore them to observe potentially necessary resources available. 2b. GET. A. CAR.
3. Fossils, random generated weapons, pets. gotta find em all!
4. Small public server sounds good but mostly solo.
5. Probably a whole first week, and then much less frequently.

 

If you & your pals aren't on XP, ya might wanna give Evolve research & consideration. It's lookin likely that Evolve is interested in supporting Starbound.
