    Why
The reason I say this is why would a futuristic race program robots to emulate a medieval time period.

    Falke77 Big Damn Hero

    They didn't.

A futuristic race programmed them to simulate the evolution of a society. The glitch race is one of numerous experiments.
However, the robots glitched, and got stuck in the medieval culture, never expanding.
The project was abandoned, and over time some of the robots started developing free thought.
The robots able to think for themselves were viewed as insane and outcast.

Your character is one of those robots.

Why can't I create an Avian brought up by Apex or Glitchs?

This is why I posted this thread.

So it's pretty obvious you don't know the lore behind the races.

    smh.

They are also stuck in the medieval era in their technology as well. That's why their ships are made out of wood and stone.

No, I know the lore, but I want to create my back story, not follow on someone's decision for that character.

I don't care if it's made out of grass, the ship travels through space at the speed of light.

It's not medieval technology in the slightest. A society capable of building space ships shouldn't be limited to jousting each other on horses, glitch or no glitch. If they are incapable of being more advanced than that in combat, they are most certainly incapable of space travel as well. Why would spaceship-building be something they know, but guncraft is a completely foreign concept? There's no logic there.

There's a gaping flaw in the lore. Either make their technological drawbacks consistent, or don't include technological limitations at all.

    I quote the official lore;
    "
These experiments took place in a vast number of regions across the Universe, despite changing a plethora of variables each civilization eventually destroyed itself when its technological progression began to overtake its social progression. All but the Glitch.

For reasons unknown a fault caused the Glitch to become stuck early in the simulation, where they now remain. The experiment long abandoned, the Glitch are unable to shake their Medieval values and beliefs"
Important parts bolded. The Glitch know what they are, who they are, why they are, and what they were. They know that technological progression past cultural progression destroyed versions of themselves early on.
They also know they're culturally stuck in the medieval period.
Makes sense to me they wouldn't be walking around with laser guns but still ruled by kings with honor.

Yes, they didn't have space ships.

It still begs the question "Then why the flippity-flim-flam-FUCK do they have space ships?!?" Guns are considered taboo but space travel isn't? Also, just because they have primitive armor doesn't mean that armor has to look the exact same as our human armor did in that time period.

It would make so much more sense if your character simply stole a space ship of another race than having his own medieval-themed one.

Okay, after reading this 2 times I started to understand, but why cant I have an Avian that was dumped on a Glitch planet and because of this the Avian is a genius that can advance to the ultra modern style because he isn't stuck in a medieval period?

It's the same suspension of disbelief in the Steampunk culture.
Steam, steel, and iron couldn't make such crazy contraptions work as they'd have you believe. But they ignore that fact of reality because that fact of reality sucks. It is a game after all, not real life, and most certainly not a real life simulator/emulator. Wood/stone can now become "advanced enough" to fly through space. Take it or leave it, that's your choice, but other than that, the Glitch lore is sound.

You can though. Just ignore the quests and do your own thing, this is a sandbox game after all.

But my backstory and dialogue doesn't match up to my future story does it. I want to be a genius but an Avian is stupid, my dialogue pulls me out of my story that I am creating.

If I create an Avian, it wont let me be a genius because the lore says so.

Well to that I say that this game is extremely moddable and will only get easier to mod later on so it's entirely possible to change any part of the game that doesn't fit your story.

Who says you can't be a genius? It's all pretend anyways. You could be struggling to live in a society who is devout and you're not and are smarter ect ect. You can be whatever you want, guy. People don't acknowledge differences in our society anyways, why should they on birdworld?

What possible reason would there be for a child of one race getting raised by a different one? Not to mention the difficulties involved. Oh, yes, this random human baby was dumped on a glitch doorstep despite the fact that there are no humans what-so-ever in the entire solar system we're in, let's go ahead and raise it- OH WHOOPS TURNS OUT GLITCH DON'T PRODUCE ANY NON-METALLIC FOOD PRODUCTS AND CAN'T MAKE MILK TO FEED IT.

Wait, how about the Apex? Nope, Miniknog took it away for experimentation/reassignment/killing it because it's not Apex. Dang, how about the Florans? Nope, they ate it. The Avians rejected the child because of wonky religion.

The only possible cultures I can think of that would possibly receive alien children would be humans and maybe hylotl.

Radical differences in species culture kind of makes having an outcast child not plausible in any way, shape, or form.

But then if I want to create a dumb Avian I would have to change it again.

I want this to be an ingame feature.

It's not really possible to please everyone.
Say we make the Avian dialogue intelligent. Some people might want to roleplay as an ignorant avian.
Say we make the Avian somewhere in the middle. People might complain the Avian isn't extreme enough in one direction or another.

Part of the reason I chose glitch to begin with is they lean more towards intelligent dialogue than some other races.

Actually, avians got along well with humans for some reason.

I was investigating an avian tomb as an avian, there was a human sarcophagus in the tomb. Upon examination, my avian stated something along the lines of "avians were one of the first species early human colonists met, some avians chose to preserve their human friends, hoping they too could get wings in the after life".
