What's your favorite weapon?

I think everyone has had time to get familiar with most if not all of the weapons currently available. So what's your favourite one so far? Ranged, Melee? And which one specifically in that category?

So far mine has got to be Melee. Guns and Bows are nice but I just think I look so cool doing a dash attack that ends up killing the enemy. I prefer 2-handed Swords.

 

Shooting is what I prefer. (But then, I tend to gravitate towards ranged fighting anyway).

But the melee weapons are more fun in that there's slightly more variety in strategy when using them.

 

I prefer to shoot things but at the moment energy is soooooo expensive for me. Than again I haven't left the Alpha sector.

 

Plasma Weaponary, love that those bolts stick to walls and cause AoE dammage.

 

Pistols because I can use a shield or flashlight or shortsword or even a microphone in the other hand.

 

With the current knockback from melee weapons, they are surely superior to ranged ones, especially when dual-wielding( I'd love to get me some powerful one-handed pistols, so I can keep same dps as with melee swords(

 

'Nade launchers.
You can get creative with the firing trajectories.

 

My favorite so far has been a fire shot pistol paired with a quick dagger with lightning projectile effect.

The gun is amazing for lighting caves even underwater and fires quickly with very little energy cost. The dagger shoots a lightning projectile faster than the gun fires. So when you hold both mouse buttons it shreads all most anything up to level 7 planets.

I only visit level 10's now sadly and was forced to op out for a higher dps two handed sword. I still keep the gun on me for lighting tho.

 

Dual wield for sure. If one of my 1-handers have an electricity or special projectile effect, all the better. Who needs shields when you have a whirlwind of slicing blades in front of your at all times?

 

Out of all melee weapons currently in the game, broadswords are by far the best because of their massive arc and amazing range. Hammers and axes have worse arcs and less range and no other melee weapons can even attack anyone that's not straight in front of you. Unless they add the ability to aim melee weapons, there's little reason to use anything other then broadswords.

As for ranged -- I prefer snipers, as they deal good damage, have low energy consumption and can be used at range. All automatic weapons, shotguns, rocket launchers and bows take too much energy to be useful and all semi-auto weapons, besides snipers, do very little damage.

 

The best weapon by far is the bone-smasher type (whatever its called that launches the bones). It annihilates everything in its path if you get a good one (sector X) doing 6k dmg with a good hit, one shotting everything.

 

Still looking for a good endgame shotgun, most of those I'm finding are too energy intensive, or got some odd projectile (

I got one of these in sector 1 and, as you said, it annihilated everything, even though it's stats technically looked worse than standard weapons. It was even faster than my pickaxe when I mined ore from dirt with it.

I do mostly slashing right now but it's just cause I've found so few ranged weapons and those I did find take a whole energy bar to kill a bird.

 

Poll lacks sword and board option, which is my favorite. Against birds i prefer something slow and one shotting, usualy, hammer or sniper rifle.

You won't find anything not energy intensive in current pach, since all guns have normalized energy/damage ratio, so much for random generaton.

 

Well unless you're shieldbashing things to death, you're still slashing with the sharp part of your arsenal! The poll is only a split between ranged and melee, though I did ask to clarify what kind you prefer within those two groups if you wanted to. And you totally did.

 

Haven't found any firearms yet, but the bow is kinda weaksauce so I went with slashing. Currently using Burning Spaceslicer 1 handed dagger with fire effect, it makes mobs into torches =D ... briefly. 4.67 speed and 5 damage a hit along with the Wobbly Dinnertray it makes a great combo

 

Can't vote because I like both. Grenade launcher + shortsword combo. Blast them and if they get close you knock them back with a fast attack speed! ranged enemy? Np. Melee? Np.

Probably my favorite combo in the game at the moment.

 

Blink softly and carry a REALLY big stick...

 

Shotgun in one slot with a fast two-hander in the other.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a shotgun on my new char, so I'm stuck with a plasma rifle and a plasma pistol, both of which do not satisfy my needs of getting up in someone's face and blasting it off. Plasma grenades are a good substitute though.

 

Annoyed, I've yet to find a gun with the DPS to match my durasteel weapons. Relaxed, The sword and board combo is perfectly viable, which is what I rely on.
