Whats your favorite pet

Whats the best pet you have ever found in starbound also cordinates

 

This guy is the one I'm using right now. He has a needle attack that does a ton of damage if all of the needles connect. However, he tends to think he can do contact damage (spoilers: he can't), so sometimes he just ends up standing on top of his target and getting himself killed. Other than that, he's fantastic.

Unfortunately, it seems like the monster generation has changed at some point since I caught him, and he's no longer on the planet I found him on, so I can't help you with coords, sorry.

Also, pretty much any mob that knows bash makes a really solid pet, once you level them a few times so they can take a beating.

 

I've got a super cute creature, with the body of a Liopleurodon, and a long neck with the head of a Raptor, and its all feathered and fluffy and adorable I'll post the pic and coordinates when I can access the gaming laptop I use.

 

The lil poop guy! Well, it would be my fav if it wasn't so buggy atm. Had quite a few cool looking ones I had found until a certain disgruntled marsupial swiped the royal chest they were all sitting in on my ship

edit: Are pets only as strong as the threat level of the planet you caught them on? I only ask because I finally caught a po the other day in a low threat world, saw that it only did a few damage, later that day I was in a threat 10 world with a different random pet from a stronger planet that I had never used and it was doing 500-600 damage.

 

Is a pet with gravity smash any good.

 

Yeah, higher tier creatures make for stronger pets initially. However, you can level any pet up by just letting it get the killing blow on enough creatures. This leveling system goes past 10, so you can get your pet incredibly strong. Not sure if there's a level cap for them yet.

I recall catching one a while back. I think it's about as effective as it is on us, so basically terrible. Unless you want a CC pet for minibosses or something.

What if the pet does melee damage and I am a rifle man.

 

Then you'd be pretty screwed either way. Right now the pet AI has it so they only ever attack anything that is either very close to them, and aggro, or if something hits them from a far distance (a guard with a rifle, for example). Even in the case of getting hit from far away, the pet will still run all the way up to the culprit, even if they have a ranged attack.
