  1. Ralij

    Ralij Big Damn Hero

Born with the given name of Julius a man in his prime was always interested in the old ways before earth met its fate. After being stranded on a planet with no one other than his cat he embraced them wholeheartedly changing his name to that of the old gods in a tongue no one else seems to remember. He spends a great deal of time building great cities and erecting expansive mines to gather the necessary ore to build scanners and search in every system for the remnants of humanity, dreaming to solidify mankind's place among the stars once more.

He nearly met his end at a Floran hunting party, but was so completely enamored by the thrill that he dropped his previous name and became Odin: the god of the hunt (among many other things). The Florans became his favorite aliens, crossing blades with them every chance he encountered and regularly participating in their yearly ritual hunts. A great many Floran tribes and towns he challenged and burned to the ground. As time went on the number of races he has plundered and burned is a number beyond count. His ship carries a large contingent of elite marines that accompany him in burning and looting his way across the galaxy.

The stories of Avian, Glitch, and Apex refugees saddened him greatly and taking pity on them he opened entire worlds built for them. The location of these worlds is openly known: both a welcome with open arms for those trying to escape oppression and an open challenge to their oppressors. His worlds are built largely on the principles of equality, liberty, and fraternity and has acheived a high standard of living for those living under his rule. The shock of such a society to one of his many captives has been well noted.

Depending on who you believe he is either a savior to the oppressed, a beneficial overlord who cares greatly for the happiness of his people or a rampaging, bloodthirsty barbarian whose very name is whispered in fear.

  2. Thornik

    Thornik Scruffy Nerf-Herder

Born with a speech impediment that made me not hiss, I was quite different from the other Florans. When I was young, I met an old Glitch woman in another village by the name of Tecka, who taught me how to read and write. The other Florans in my village didn't like me, calling me weird and strange. I was mostly unaffected by these insults, expect for when they said I wasn't a real Floran. That's when I asked Tecka to help me leave. Seeing how my planet was small, she said the only escape I'd have would be space travel. I told her that I'd do it, and so she said I'd need a ship. I remember that the village Elder had a space ship that he'd taken from a group of humans that came here, after slaughtering them. I told Tecka about it and she said she was going to stay behind in her village. After reading her codex on space travel, I stole the ship in the middle of the night. I could her the Elder cursing me and saying that I was banished from the village forever. Like I care, I thought. I then took to the stars, unaware of what lay ahead of me. Unfortunately, after travelling for a good long while, I encountered an asteroid belt. I am not what you'd call "skilled" when it comes to navigating tightly packed giant space rocks, so the ship was damaged severely. After that, I had no control over when the ship went, so it just kinda floated around for about two hours. Eventually, I caught orbit of a planet, and decided to reboot the ship's AI that I'd ignored earlier. You should know the rest of the story from there.

I'm not going back. Ever. I am free, and I will forever be, and if someone or something tries to take that away, my blade will not hesitate.

Mira isn't your average Floran. Born into the world through an experiment by Big Ape's goons, she was raised in captivity and used as a living test subject. Through the injections of bio-samples and other vile liquids, Mira DNA was altered, being able to change her colour scheme of her leaves and skin like that of a chameleon. The Apex taught Mira a multitude of things: from different languages to advanced sciences and mathematics. Thanks to nothing born of normal means and living around the Apex, Mira had not developed the hissing like that of other Florans. When introduced to other Florans through experiments, they quickly rejected her as one of their own, sensing that something wasn't right with her. The same results were found introducing Mira to other lesser animals such as birds, dogs, cats, and the like. An odd encounter were that the same results were shown with introduced to Avians and other animal-like humanoids. This off-putting sense had no effect on avali, glitch, or humans. Many years of experiments and learning, Mira became intrigued by the idea of having a life of her own outside of the lab. One day, Mira decided to request to be set free. The Apex laughed at her and then attempted to sedate her. To them, she was becoming too curious and she needed to be put down. When then Apex approached her, something primal took over Mira. She was having no part of this life anymore. She flew into a beserker's rage, killing many of her captors as she made her way through multiple levels of the complex. Once she had slaughtered many of the Apex and the other escaped, her mind forced itself into a state amnesia and she fell asleep for several weeks. If not for her needing little in the way of nourishment and the mutations she went thtough, she would have died. When awoke in a daze and had seen the scene before her, she ran. Fearful that whatever massacred the residents of the complex was still afoot. Knowing only her name, she found her way to an escape pod and fled the planet with nothing more but a confused, fear-filled heart, but an urge for knowledge.

Mira wound up on a nearby planet that had been seemed to be lifeless at first, but soon found out that the planet had more in store than she had hoped for. A group of glitch had been running an illegal mining operation of Solarium and forced her into slavery. There she toiled for months on end until an encounter changed her life for the better.

And that's where my story picks up the pace. :D

Gun sulfide was born from a dying white dwarf star in a unremarkable solar system. From youth she had a knack for businesses, starting a bank at the age of.... don't quite remember, anyways that's not important, her bank was promptly robbed by outlaws who had the idea in their head that a young banker wouldn't be a hard target and right they were. After that she took up gunsmithing in hopes of being better prepared to deal with bandits. Three months later the gunsmith she ran was robbed, after that she never really slept and always carried a sidearm powerful enough to stop a...... ummm.... it was like a train but with a gun turret.... can't remember the name, whatever, point is she never went anywhere without protection. After that she got wasted and blacked out. She woke up on a trashed ship in the middle of nowhere 3 days later.

Ah, the tale of Axe Grawsbeak.

Mr. Grawsbeak started out in a small, secluded village like pretty much every other Avian did. He always dreamed of going up to the stars and exploring, but the villagers tried to dissuade him from this train of thought, and instead to focus on his studies of Kluex.
Nevertheless, Axe was determined to explore the stars, and one fateful day, he got his chance.
An air raid, conducted by Avian pirates, attacked the small village. He acted like he had died in the fighting, but he snuck aboard the airship. Everyone else, including his family, had died in the raid.
When the pirates found him huddled against a wooden crate, they laughed and jeered at him, but they were interrupted by the captain. He, unlike the rest of the crew, saw a bright, talented kid who wanted to explore the stars.
And so it was that Axe Grawsbeak (shown here in the profile picture) became a scavenger, who would look for civilization and fortune anywhere he went. Eventually, he started his own crew, and married a Hylotl. But that's another story...

  7. Combozone

    Combozone Existential Complex

My other character is Haley Lochness, a Hylotl. Wife to Axe Grawsbeak, she is second in command on board the Crested Fireback. She is a loving, but fierce, companion to all of the crew, and has a love for adventure.
Mrs. Lochness grew up deep in an ocean, as most Hylotl did. She was taught in the etiquette of being a proper lady, and all her life, she was forced to be refined and proper, when really all she wanted was to have some freedom in her life.
After a tragic accident in which her city collapsed under the water pressure, she and a few other survivors swam to the surface and sent out a distress beacon for help. Naturally, the Crested Fireback was in the area, and picked up the remnants of her home city.
After being picked up, Haley took a liking towards Mr. Grawsbeak, and when it was time for her to be placed on a refugee planet, she instead decided to stay with the crew, and be with them on their adventures.
She married Mr. Grawsbeak sometime during their adventures, although no one quite knows when it happened, or where for that matter.
She loves cooking, and cooks for the entire crew. Not every recipe is great, but she tries her hardest. Don't make fun of her cooking, or you'll be the next course!

I'm just a crazy spacefaring human. I've been tooling about in my ship for a while now when i picked up my first mate, Basil. She's been fun to hang out with. Took me a while to actually get used to some of her tastes, but we both are omnivores. Every once in a while when i stop at a random planet, Basil will want to 'explore' for a bit and then she comes back with some of the best stuff i've tasted in a while. She also got pretty happy when i allowed her to start a trophy room on the ship. Otherwise, we just sail around and do whatever comes to mind. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, but always fun.

  9. Scootaloo Dash

    Scootaloo Dash Void-Bound Voyager

    Name: Akihisa
    Race: Hylotl

Once a hylotl who believed in simple things, like peace, and nonviolence, Akihisa was an innocent being. He'd never imagined that he'd become the Assassin he is today. After the Floran Invasion hit, Akihisa had escaped, using a worn down ship that had been passed down for generations. He'd never actually knew it worked. Having escaped, Akihisa was broken. Many of his people slaughtered, thanks to the Floran race. While he did blame the Florans 100% for the invasion, he believed that Florans were not as dangerous as others. Having a new door opened, Akihisa set out to destroy corruption, ruthlessly kill those who he deems corrupt, and finally, destroy the Floran Army, and put the world to rest.

"Corruption lies everywhere; The Miniknog, Florans, Kluex, Earth's destruction, The Novakid's origin, and the Glitch AI. I shall be the sword that silences."

    Name: Andisk
    Race: Apex

A general in the miniknog army, Andisk was always proud of his work. He'd always believed he was putting vile Apex behind tubes and killing those who deserved it. This all changed, however, when he watched an Apex become mutated. He couldn't stand his eyes. He violently escaped the Miniknog, who were desperately searching for him. He had seen Big Ape with his own eyes, been his greatest general. But with no way off of the planet, Andisk began to sneak around the Miniknog, eventually being able to salvage a ship. While attempting to escape, the ship was badly damaged, and was only functional enough to escape, and couldn't go any further. Arriving at a new planet, Andisk decided it was time that he searched far and wide for Apex everywhere, to rebel against Big Ape. The rebellion is glad to know that Andisk, the ex-general, is their new leader.

That all depends on how much extra crap they add to it a lot of additives in current foods are fine in their normal state, but become a bunch of toxic things when burned, so for best health you'd use a pipe and have organic tobacco

  18. The Squid

    The Squid Oxygen Tank

The tragic and painful tale of Teico Silverbeak; one spoken in hushed tones around glowing fires and locked doors.
Back when Teico was just a young hatchling, he lived in a small, Stargazer-controlled village. When he was 16, he was nearly sacrificed after his parents discovered he was an atheist. They reported to the local authorities that he was a non-believer, and Teico was shackled to a cage and brought to the sacrificial tower.
As he was about to jump, the guard behind him suddenly passed out from sun-stroke. Teico grabbed his gun and turned back into the tower, fighng his way down to the lowest floor. Here, he stole some decent armor and weapons and began fighting through the town. A mob chased after him, wielding stones, knives, and whatever else they could find. But Teico's stolen armor protected him from the meager assault. He burst out from the center of the crowd, shooting down those who had been trying to kill him moments before. Was this was happening, a USCM scouting ship landed several kilometers away. A few soldiers poured out, and Teico dropped his weapons and raise his arms.
After explaining his predicament, the soldiers recruited him. He went back to a training university, where he was assigned to a team of his peers with whom he would train. These peers included Jet Steel, a Novakid; Bustow Gurrilla, an Apex; Goldgrind, a Glitch; and Ami Dorsalkill, a Hylotl. This team was the only group that don't have a human on it, and as a result they were mocked and riculed. Teico became angry.
At first, the teams were trained to compete in weekly paintball tournaments meant to simulate the battlefield. After the rest few battles, it was clear that Teico's team was not to be messed with. After a year, the tournaments were exactly the same, only with stun-guns rather than paintballs.
    Teico's team continued to dominate.
The other teams grew angry. "The USCM was Human organization. Why should we let these aliens beat us?" The questioned.
One day, after a particularly gruesome and glorious battle, Teico and his team mates sat in the cafeteria, eating lunch. Suddenly, an apple hit Goldgrind in the head.
"Ignore them. They're just jealous," Bustow advised. But when more food stars hitting the group, Teico, Jet and Goldgrind became more d more angry. They wanted to fight back. Bustow and Ami remained seated and urged the others not to fight, but they fought anyway. The made their way through the cafeteria, beating up their assailants. Bustow and Ami kept their heads down.
That evening, the team was called to the main instructor's office. After the gruesome behavior of the afternoon, the were not allowed to participate in the tournaments at more.
    Teico wanted revenge.
That night, he snuck out of his team's dorm and stole a high-power plasma rifle. Not strong enough to kill, but enough to severely injure.
He approached the dorm of another team who he knew had taken part in tormenting his team. He reached to open the door, and then fell to the ground.
Behind him stood Bustow, who had followed him out and had stolen a stun-pistol. Teico looked up at his former friend, his eyes wide with anguish ad betrayal. Bustow looked down at Teico, his own eyes filled with sadness. As school staff and faculty rushed onto the scene, Bustow explained what had happened. Teico was expelled. He was dropped at a small island on an ocean planet in the same system as the school.
Teico built a small yet comfortable house and began plotting revenge. He met a travelling Hylotl merchant, whose weapons he stole. He remains there to this day, vowing revenge against the Apex who destroyed his life.

  19. Jewboymini

    Jewboymini Void-Bound Voyager

My character is a nomadic fluffy space raptor. It was born an unknown amount of years ago because this is space and who the hell wants to use a standard measurement of time based on a destroyed planet's orbit. It found itself on a broken down ship after drinking a liquid from a jar labelled "voodoo juice". Oddly, it only took several minutes to remove the glitch inhabitant and replace them with more reasonable people.

  20. Scootaloo Dash

    Scootaloo Dash Void-Bound Voyager

So... the character Andisk, I told you about, the one who is leading the rebellion, got glitched beyond playable/fixable, so my plot has... advanced.

Andisk lead a rebellion against the Miniknog, and charged all of his soldiers at them. Unfortunately, they did not have what it took. They had been vastly outnumbered, outgunned, and outteched. While they took a heavy loss and lost 90% of their rebels, they managed to make a dent in the miniknog. With no more equipment, no more base, and only 10% of his rebellion remaining, Andisk set out to create a stronger rebellion (hence me having to start over with him). He fled on his original ship, which was now left in shambles. While he'd failed harder than before, he could start anew once more, knowing he'd done something powerful.

As for what he'd done, that concerns my next character.

Name: General Vasimik (The Yellow General)
A miniknog general, one of the five colored generals (Green, Blue, Red, Yellow, and Orange), Vasimik was the veteran of the generals. Having handled the Rebellion before, General Vasimik was the go-to general for anything rebellion based. When Andisk attacked, however, they had focused on the Yellow General and forced him into fleeing the Miniknog base. The other generals, and the Miniknog now search for the Yellow General, while Vasimik searches for some kind of weapon to shut the rebellion down for good. Vasimik personally wants to kill Andisk, and also believes in Apex superiority, seeing florans as "inferior" and "unevolved" species, looking to evolve or end them.
