Prefers to ssstab without getting ssstabbed. Stays in ssshadow, blend in with prey, ssstab.

My second Floran (completely a joke)

    Mari Juan. (Prison name)

Floran who escaped from a USCM prison in a fit of panic after being set on fire by inmates for seemingly unknown reasons.

    ScorchtheChill95 Master Chief

I can't lie I kinda went over board with mine too.... I just love this game way too much! So yeah... one for ever six!

First up let's start with Fincatcher! She is a Hylotl who lived a simple life, there was nothing to complain about really. Except for the fact that the mission seemed to want and send her away from her home... Being kinda lazy at times, she didn't want to travel much. Though she would willing follow her orders, when not away she would tend to her garden and listen to the waves that lapped against the shore near her house. One day, the mission wanted to send Fincatcher to a small island not to far from her home... she thought she would just go since it seemed so close. This was the best choice she ever made, for when she got back... the Floran had already attacked her home town, killing as many Hylotl as they hungered for... so she went back to the island and warned everyone about the threat and ever decided to leave, fearing for their lives... now she drifts the stars, not holding any real hate towards the Floran, but more towards their instincts that cause them to be violent. Fincatcher now looks for new plants for her to cultivate and start the largest garden ever created.

Interested. Next on the list is the Glitch Led Oil, who was a merchant that knew he was different than the rest of the Glitch but kept to himself, or at least when he stopped selling items and started watching wild life... Serious. he knew, he just knew that there was something off about him, the other Glitch stopped talking to him, and he could no longer hear them in his head... Excited. Led had achieved self awareness and was no longer part of the hivemind, he was happy, finally he was free to be whatever he wanted to be! Sad. But... what did he want to be, he looked back at the other Glitch, they knew he had changed. Determined. He knew it was time to leave, so he gathered his stuff and waited for the other Glitch to bring him a ship. Happy. He may not know what the future holds, but at least his send off was happy. Neutral. At his first stop he met a Hylotl that kept watering the plants of the planet and ever potted some of them. He sat there and studied her... Excited. That was it! Just like back home, he wanted to study life, and find the creators of his race, and study them like they had studied his people! So for now, he helps the Hylotl with her Garden and travels with her. Happy. Though she gets annoyed at all the questions he ask.

Sssso now we come to Sssscorched Leaf of the Floran. Sssshe knew how to sssstab and ssslash, but all of it was sssso sssstupid, all the mindless killing, sssshe knew sssshe got hungry, but sssshe could sssstill hear sssscreams of childern as her people attack villages and ssssetlements. Sssshe was hungry, but not that hungry. When Leaf sssstopped a Floran for killing a small human child, and protested against it... they wanted to attack her now! The child had time to warn the next village as Leaf's tribe attacked her, sssso sssshe ran after realizing she couldn't win, that is, until sssshe ran into a Glitch and Hylotl that were caring plants onto a sssship, sssso Leaf hitched a ride with them by ssssneaking on. The Glitch knew sssshe was on board the whole time. It notified the Hylotl of her prescience on the sssship, and the Hylotl ssssmiled as sssshe met Leaf and heard her sssstory... Now Leaf wants to try and teach her people to no longer kill mindlessly and only kill what is needed to survive their hunger, and not be gluttons.

Next we have "Banana Toes" Jones, an apex scientist. Jones got the knickname form the fact that he never cleaned up the banana peals from around his desk. He never liked the idea of the Big Ape to begin with, and why should he, he's a scientist, he thinks with facts and data not mindless faith! He made the mistake of saying this too one of the Minikong and that would have been the end of him if the Resistance hadn't attacked when they did, in fact that was the reason he stopped researching bioweapons and started researching individuals who could help the with the fight against the Minikong. That's what lead him to being face to face with killer space penguins... seriously.... seriously... well the Human and Avain that saved him seemed strong enough to help... but first he needs to help the two find a new home, he knows this is for the best... this is for his people, so... why did they have to ask a Hylotl for garden tips...

Then we come to James, a human who left Earth as it kinda... well, ended... he knew he shouldn't have left, all of his friends and family... they didn't make it to the ship he was on. He couldn't bare it, before all this, he was in training to be a police officer, when it all went to hell. He didn't do much other than play video games and watch vids in his spare time. He knew how to handle a sword and a pistol very well and was at the top of his class in feild work... to bad his memory screwed him over in class. That could be a problem... Still now he was on an empty ship, thanks to those tentacles... god, who ever brought that thing on was an idiot... but he made it just in time to launch the thing out of the airlock, but not before everyone else was killed... or sucked out with the monster... He finally calmed down in orbit over a planet that he knew had an Avain settlement.

Finally we reach Soopclaw our purple bird. She only recently started to dislike the idea of Kleux and clipping of the young's' wings. She realized this when she saw parents of one child run up to stop the the guards before they could clip the wings of their daughter... only to get gunned down... Soop couldn't sleep for the next few days... she finally got some rest when she passed out from pure exhaustion out in the forest... only to wake up just as a monster was about to erase her from existence only for her to be saved by a young human with a sword. His first words to her were: "You know... this thing is heavy, can you please move it off of me?" She knew that there was only one way for him to get to this planet, as per the fact there were no human settlements anywhere on the planet. She decided that she wanted to go with the human, at which he replied: "As long as you don't bring a tentacle monster on board." Of course she also had yelled out against Kleux and now had guards chasing her... so... yeah, TIME TO LEAVE!

Awesome! I'm done... I'm gonna go pass out now...

My story.... you dont want to know my story... and I dont want to know yours either..... everyone has a story.
Well kiddo how many humans have you met? And since I'm the first one why do you think you know that I am in any way different to normal humans?
Okay since you're obviously the stubborn type lets make a deal. Its raining outside and I probably wont leave the pub till morning, so you buy my a few drinks and I may consider it.

The name? Some folks call me Shadow... f**king stupid name that is. Like every second idiot back in my days used that name in some way.
But few.... very few.. know my real name today... so consider yourself lucky. Its Qooper. Been a while since I heared that name though.

Last time another human used it was the day Earth went down. You know, the tentacle incident. I was there. Well not literally I was in the orbit of earth.
Yeah on a USCM frigatte. What? Now I wasnt with the USCM, I'm not really the soldiertype. After the first reports came in the captain ordered all
civilians into the scout vessel, that included me. In total we were one couple with a kid, 2 guys and a coporal who should get us to the next colony.

Well I dont know what exactly happened but let me give you an advice. If you plan to ever going into space, always check your FTL drive before your jump.
I mean unless you want to overheat your cooling unit, fry your systems and crash land on a planet.

What happened from that on is a bit.... blurry. I know most of us survived the crash. Only one guy died, but we lost anotherone immediatley after the crash when the
rest of the ship exploded. Then the coporal said seomthing about a settlement a bit north of here which he saw during the crash.

I could barely walk, our ship was a burning wreck and we had a child in the group so it seemed like a good idea a this point.
Next thing I know is that a bit explosion hit the group, wasnt a grenade or a landmine, was definitley something bigger.
I was alredy in a bad shape but that extra blow knocked me out for a few days. At least thats what the Hylotl told me who found me and patched me back up.
She knew a few things about human physiology and said that she was actually very suprised that I was still breathing.
Well tell you what kiddo, so was I...... so was I.

What she also said was that the blast who hit us was a rocket fired by a floran raid group and that this Hylotl were hunting them down for quite a few weeks now.
Huh? Well the hell I know. Maybe a few Hylotl became a little bit less pacifistic after the florans took their homeworld. At least thats something humans and hylotl
have in common. We both lost our homeworlds to some goDDAM..... *sigh*. Sry lost myself there a bit. Anyway, she saved the best part of her story for the ending.
She told me that all the other humans of my group... oh look, do you see what I see?

Thats the sunrise kiddo and it stopped to rain too. So I guess I'll be leaving then. The hell I cant stop the story. I can stop the story wherever I want to, but tell you what.
I'll be around for a few more days, so if you buy me the next time too a few drinks, I'll maybe tell you the rest of the story. Hmm? Oh what I'm going to do today?

    Warning: Long.

    Day 6

I’m being stalked… It thinks I haven’t noticed. If I wasn’t so astute about every little detail, I probably wouldn’t have. It’s been watching me since I first arrived on Alpha Mintaka Majoris VI a. I’m not sure what it’s waiting for. Perhaps it’s just waiting for me to put my guard down and then it will strike. In any case, when it does make it’s move, i’ll be ready.

    Day 14

It finally made it’s move. I had just been attacked by a large beast and had little choice but to fire my weapons and put it down. As soon as the beast was dead, my stalker leaped from the shadows and went for me. Lucky for me, I prepared for this moment. It fell right into my trap.

It turned out be a floran. I have no idea how a floran made it this far out but it seems to be alone. This marks the first opportunity I’ve had to see one in person. it’s quite an amazing species. I’ve come all this way to study the rare plants found on this planet and I suppose this is no exception. I will definitely study it further.

    Day 30

It seems to be quite displeased with it’s captivity. Yet, as I study it, it seems just as fascinated with me as I am with it. It watches me, just as it did from the shadows before eventually attacking me. Despite it’s curiosity, it seems to be of low intelligence. I’ve heard floran are savages but this one displays little more understanding than a simple beast and it doesn’t seem to be able to communicate.

    Day 47

I found it’s lair. It was well hidden and I had ended up stumbling upon it by accident. It’s a horrible place. Deep underground and it smells like death. The place is littered with bones, scattered on the ground, displayed on walls like they were trophies. Most of the remains were from beasts, often very large ones. But I recognized some belonging to a few different humanoid species. None that I could recognize as Apex, at least. I must keep a closer eye on that thing. It’s even more dangerous than I thought.

    Day 91

This may not be all that surprising coming from a renowned botanist such as myself, but this floran is beyond intriguing. i’ve read so much about them, but that all pales in comparison to being able to study a real live one. It has even begun to cease her resistances during my tests and experiments. In fact, I think the subject has begun to actually look forward to our interactions.

    Day 139

I have given the subject a name, Iprellium. It means “fruitful” in our ancient language. I think it is quite fitting.

I think, perhaps Iprellium is more intelligent than I had initially surmised. It seems to have a penchant for learning and has begun to attempt to imitate me whenever possible. It seems to lack any kind of inherent cultural knowledge outside of it’s natural instincts. I have to assume it was somehow abandoned on this planet while it was just a young sapling. I know from my reading that florans are capable of speech, yet this one does not seem to possess that boon.

It probably just needs a teacher and i’m going to make the attempt to be just that. Imagine all the things I could learn from it if I was able to conversate with it and comprehend it’s point of view. For science!

    Day 418

Iprellium has come an incredibly long way. She is now efficient in the tongue of basic language. Yes, SHE. When we got to pronouns and I explained the difference between male pronouns and female pronouns, she asked which I was. After that, she insisted that she too, was female. Perhaps this is just more of her mimicry of me as floran do not have explicit genders. She seems to really look up to me.

    Day 712

I have released Prell (as she likes to call herself when speaking in the third person, which is often) from her restraints. I am confident that she will cause me no harm, nor attempt to flee. I’ve been teaching her how to read using common Apex and Big Ape literature. She is in awe of our superiority to other races and even more so of Big Ape. She fears him, and rightfully so. I’m going to attempt to use that fear to instill a basic sense of morality in her. Rule #1, thou shalt not harm an Apex.

    Day 736

Now that she has her freedom, Iprellium dresses like me often. She insists that she she is an equal to me. While she seems to be bracing Apex culture, i’m not entirely sure she understands large parts of it. She still retains many of her more basic instinctual habits. I’m planning to take her back with me someday and see how she adapts to civilization. I doubt she’ll ever be a respected citizien but I no longer believe she is a threat to the apex and there is much to be gained by having her around once she finds her rightful place.

    Day 1,036

I was thinking back to my first few weeks on this planet and how Iprellium stalked me for so long before making a move. I have seen her do this many times since. She will stalk her pray for days, sometimes even weeks before moving in for any kind of kill. She’s extremely proficient at it, too. She brings back the meat and we eat together. She seems to prefer it raw.

Anyway, today I decided to ask her about it. I initially suspected it was merely a tactic to wait patiently until the right moment to strike. In truth, at least according to her, the reasons behind it are much deeper. She believes that her prey must be a “worthy” kill or it’s meat will be “tainted” and make her weak.

Not only does she watch to learn what she can about the intended victim even down to it’s daily habits, she believes that once she finally slays it and ingests it’s meat, it will make her stronger, faster and smarter. I doubt there is any truth behind this and have yet to acknowledge any correlation in her development. It sounds like some sort of floran superstition and yet, in all my studies I have never heard mention of this practice by any other florans.

In fact, they are commonly known to eat anything that is put in front of them. Iprellium goes so far as to refuse any kind of meat that she did not kill herself. Luckily, she is less picky about eating fruits, nuts and vegetables or she may very well have starved to death during her captivity.

She mentioned an exception to her rule once. A being that was most likely a Hyltol, judging by her description, landed on this planet some time back. According to her, the smell of it’s meat was so enticing that she could not control herself and killed and devoured the poor thing before she even had a chance to learn anything about it.

She seemed deeply ashamed of it, but even so, I think i’ll have to remember to keep her away from any Hylotl ambassadors.

    Day 1,950

The time is finally coming. We’re going back home. I’ve taught her all I can from this desolate planet. I must get her to colonized space and teach her how to integrate into society and experience it first hand rather than through books and stories. I can’t wait to show all my research to my colleagues.

I’m in the process of teaching Prell how to pilot ‘Shimmergloom’ and work the systems on board in case of emergency. She seems to be figuring it out, but has absolutely no concept of how or why it works.

    Day 1,953

We were… attacked. Human pirates… they landed on the planet and raided us… Prell managed to finish them off but I was badly injured… They smashed my Respawner… I think I can engage the auto-repair… but it’s too late for me… By the time it’s fixed, I will be gone. Instead, i’m going to reconfigure it to Iprellium’s DNA. I set the ship on auto-pilot and charted towards Apex space. I hope someone fines this and she’s ok. I have attached all my research to this journal and told Iprellium to give it to the first Apex scientist she can find.

My research is very important to me. Thanks to Prell, I truly believe there is hope for the florans as a civilized species and that we, as the proud and superior Apex, have a duty to be the ones to responsibly lead them towards this goal. I believe my research will be immeasurably important in this cause.

But even more importantly. Please take care of Iprellium. I was never able to have children but over the last few years, she has become kin to me, like my own daughter. Please take care of her and help her to carry on as my remaining legacy. All Hail Big Ape.

    -Dr. Sheila Tansiturn

    TL;DR

Iprellium is NOT as “civilized” floran, though she may wish to be and sometimes considers herself to be. She was merely adopted and raised by an Apex who attempted to indoctrinate Apex culture into her. At her base level she is as intelligent and barbaric as any other floran. She still clings to many of her natural instincts and has trouble fitting into real society.

She is very loyal to and has a symbiotic relationship with the apex. Some like her, some fear her, some respect her, some merely tolerate her. She is often considered to be more like a pet. Whether she used as a guard dog, trading goods and food with citizens or even as a test subject, most apex find she has her uses. Even shadier members of the species will use her as an assassin or bounty hunter. Her skills as a stalker and hunter make her well suited to this task and her loyalty to the Apex combined with low intelligence means she can be easily manipulated and never refuses an Apex request.

She likes to “piggyback” off of Apex settlements and build her settlements near Apex cities or labs. Usually underground and with some sort of hidden passageway connecting them. She wants to blend in with Apex society but is very shy and has trouble overcoming her floran “lone wolf” urges.

She actively hates humans for their involvement in Sheila’s death. Hyltol make her insane with bloodlust just by their mere presence. Avian and Glitch are neutral to her, but she finds Glitch the least interesting since they are made of metal instead of flesh. She doesn’t have much affinity towards other florans because she grew up so distant from them but she tolerates them and often considers herself (hypocritically) superior and more “cultured” than they are.

    Race: Hylotl

    Name: Windfish

    Gender: Female

Bio: Windfish is a peasant farmer by birth, but she wanted to get her fins out of the dirt and bathe in the blood of the Florans that killed her whole family on a raid. She seeks out Floran villages and kills everything in her path. She can’t be stopped, and the trail of blood behind her is ever growing. So far she has decimated eight Floran villages and over fifty Floran huts. She never looks back and plans to single handedly take down every Floran she finds.

Myco is a Floran who is trying to be "cultured and sophisticated" but doesn't really have a clear idea on what that is. Currently living in a refurbished Apex Bunker which has a nice wood paneled bedroom with a cozy fireplace and bookshelf in the basement while the rest of the bunker is in shambles with pipes falling off the walls and graffiti all over the place. Has poor social skills.

    Future:

Tango the Novakid is trying to build the universes most complete museum. He travels the galaxy looking for artifacts, art and antiquities that he can display.

Boris the Apex is the world's scummiest landlord. He tricks people to come live on "Paradise Planet" and then charges them outrageous rent for awful hovels and apartments. He is also makes sure that they all go in debt so they can't escape. Glory to Big Ape!

My character suffers from chronic deja-vu and is constantly being told that his memory was wiped. Even though he knows that there is absolutely no physically possible way for him to have experienced the earth's destruction several times before, he still can't shake the feeling that he's already done what he's doing countless times beforehand.

He's a bit-of an unhinged loose cannon that doesn't act as though anything is real, killing things without provocation for instance.

I think this is a good place to put my RP character's stories...
FIRST UP: Sanshouo Sango-endo (Hylotl, name means salamander coral-fin in English)
Born to a middle-class family on a highly-populated Hylotl planet, Sanshouo's childhood life was not unlike most others'. His father was a law enforcement officer, and Sanshouo's dream was to follow in his father's footsteps. His resolve to become a law enforcer was strengthened even further after the murder of his older brother when he was 12 years old. He took every class in school he thought was necessary to join the police force. After graduating, he joined the police force as the rookie partner of a veteran cop. After heroically saving his partner's life during the raid of a gang's hideout, Sanshouo was promoted to patrol officer at the age of 23. During his time as a patrol officer, he married at age 25. After landing six members of a prominent gang called "The Botomu no Junin" in jail, his wife was murdered as revenge. This struck Sanshouo like a knife, and he quit the police force, vowing to hunt down the remaining members of the gang. About a year later, only a few weeks after turning 27, he found and killed the gang's leader. Since he had taken revenge, Sanshouo left the planet, wandering throughout space acting as a vigilante.
SECOND: Araumi Mizukami-yo (Hylotl, name means Riptide Waterleaf in English)
Born to a powerful shogun, Araumi spent most of his childhood learning the etiquette of a power-holder. He spent his free time training in swordplay and admiring the view from his home on a mountain, dreaming of the day when that land was his. However, these dreams were crushed the night a group of bandits decided to rob his household. Araumi ( who was 15 at the time) narrowly escaped with his life, but suffered from major burns. All of his family members and everyone else in the house was killed, either by the fire that destroyed the house or the bandits themselves. After surviving on his own in the wilderness for about seven years, he found a broken down Hylotl spacecraft. With the few engineering skills he had learned as a child, Araumi repaired the ship and left his home planet, trying to leave behind the terrifying memories of his family's destruction.

These come straight from RP server applications. (Sanshouo was accepted; Araumi was rejected)

  14. Shaadaris

    Shaadaris Giant Laser Beams

...How on [Insert Hylotl Home Planet] was the second one rejected?! I mean, come on!

Well, here are a few of my characters and their variously-detailed backstories:

(First character was both applied to and accepted into a RP server shortly before the last character wipe)
Aker'Ran was born to two Grounded Avians, and as such, grew up with a pretty bleak outlook on religion and its effects on people. When he was only a preteen, his parents were found and killed by the Stargazers' subordinates, right in front of his eyes. He narrowly escaped on an old beater spaceship his father had been fixing up. For a time, he drifted, not really having any purpose in life. That is, until he met up with a small USCM research team. Despite their protests, Aker'Ran began to follow them around, progressively becoming more aquainted with them. Eventually, they warmed to eachother, and the scientists began teaching Aker'Ran. He had an aptitude for technology, and could retain almost any information they threw at him. This, coupled with their difficulty and/or carelessness in pronouncing his name, led to them eventually nicknaming him "Duckstein." Since he'd never heard of Einstein, the joke was lost on him, but the name stuck. They travelled together for 12 years, and using his skills, Aker'Ran managed to get his ship into a better-than-new state. One day, the group accidently came across an Avian temple, and were systematicly sacrificed to Kluex. Aker'Ran was the only one able to escape. Losing everything he cared about for the second time in his life, he became very introverted, trying to stay away from any contact with civilization. During the next 27 years, he became a very good musician, and extremely seasoned explorer. He finally decided to settle down on a small planet inhabited by Grounded, and even built an airship he called the Bard. He still explored from time to time, and the Stargazers still hunted him, but he was finally content with his life. For the time being, at least.

Admosa is an Apex whom many have described as being "grandfatherly" in appearance. Don't let this fool you - he was once Big Ape's left-hand man. They never met in person, of course, but he knew just about all the secrets the Miniknog had to keep. Everything, that is, except for the horrible experiments that were being performed on his people. At the time, many of the high-ups in the Miniknog didn't even know this was happening. When the Ape Flu struck, some details of the tests and trials were slipped in the panic. Learning of these true atrocities, Admosa turned to the Resistance. He was their best informant for the few months it took for the Miniknog to catch on to his ploy. Narrowly getting away, he became a leading member in the Resistance, and was their best military tactitian for over 40 years. When the Resistance base was rooted out, no thanks to a certain Hylotl Adventurer, and the organization began to break apart and flee into hiding, the now elderly Apex took it upon himself to find and stop the Miniknog experiments. Currently, he tries desperately to trace Big Ape's location, but can never get a fix for more than a few microseconds, at which point the mastermind seems to relocate to another sector entirely.

I have a Floran (haven't completely decided on a name yet) who's a tad insane, and is quite convinced she's Human. Backstory pending...
