AceV1 because glitch FTW. Also I refuse to be called a robot. That is all. Also I will make a human called Lannis because I have a terraria character named Lannis whose progeny must live on.

We've already got a thread about character backstory, so I might merge them.

Haven't really thought about my characters that much. I'm thinking maybe a young Apex naval serviceman who deserts to go on a life of adventure, free from the oppressive regime he once supported.

Tetanus lived the life that many before him had lived. As a young boy (age_input: <10 Y), he had dreamed of becoming an honorable knight, serving his King and his home. However, quite unlike himself, he had a thought. An errant thought, a strange thought. A question! Why?

That question lead to more questions. Broad questions, philosophical questions, existential questions. Answers, he needed answers!

He never spoke a word of this to anyone. After all, how could his dream (was it his dream?) of becoming a knight benefit from the inevitable? A strange look from a guard, the judging gazes of those he called family, friends? He could not afford to act out of line, could he? But why was there a line?

    -------------

The idea, of course, is a Glitch, well, glitching out, breaking free of the programming that kept him in the same life cycle that countless before him have lived through, and completed. However, in a society such as that, the right questions could get you into the wrong places, notably dungeons and/or the gallows.

Currently the shuttle computer is rerouting any attempt to power the teleporter back to life support but I hooked up a PDA to activate it when I reboot the computer. Hopefully I can scavenge some parts from the HMS Agatha on the surface after Admiral Doolittle's fustercluck of a zoo on-board my ship. Heading to the surface now hopefully to find a new circuit for the verbal warning interface"

    *Unintelligible Shouting in Japanese*

"See what I mean! Hopefully I can locate parts to a comms unit so I can try and contact any survivors from the evacuation... wait for it"

"Alright, that gas bag is dead. Now for a brief history lesson.

Not long ago Earth was destroyed from the inside out by some writhing mass of tentacles breaking out from the surface so I took as many evacuees as I can aboard the new HMS Agatha. Sadly when we hit FTL a ship ahead of us had blown apart and a chunk had tra
veled down the left side killing 5% of the people, it was when it knocked out inertial dampeners before hitting our engines that caused the damage. Back up dampeners kicked in but the sudden slow down pasted 94% of the occupants into the walls before they all activated. Then we realized we had just dropped out on the edge of a system with Admiral Doolittle in his nearly as damaged ship. Mistakenly I let him on board where he then flexed his muscle with his commandos and turned the last cargo bay into a zoo pen for the gas bag of a creature. We had some words, the nearby gas giant decided it wanted to become a star and fried the Admiral's ship. I made the call to evac and take the working shuttles off which was then were steve decided to trash my new ship nearly killing everyone. Oh boy I was in space without a suit when that happened, managed to grab a cable as atmosphere vented into my face from the carved open shuttle bay. I get in after my friends had left, Doolittle is somewhere I don't know and Steve lets out this fart or something that cracked my ship like a fortune cookie. Now my mortally wounded shuttle is shouting gibberish and I've got to juggle repairs. Thankfully I managed to juggle correctly for once in my life and managed to fly over to this planet that I'm calling THIS IS WHAT BRITISH COLUMBIA WOULD LOOK LIKE IF IT WANTED TO BE A PLANET hoping to find anything to help me out. I didn't even have to run a scan, I looked out and saw bright blue dots recognizing it to be part of the power core fueling system. This means the good half of my ship landed here, meaning if I get the Don't Tell me the Odds scenario I can find the computer core which will make rebuilding it possible. I would kill for a matter manipulator but that's impossible since we couldn't find one on-board after crashing. A trying very hard to be an optimist called Jack Novius signing out"

Taertrix (my avatar), was exiled from her clan for questioning their ways. Having been sent off/fleeing in a barely functioning ship, she doesn't exactly make it far. From there, she ends up stowing away in a human vessel bound for a navy academy. Here, she subsists on scraps and so forth until discovered by the dean. Being a reasonable man, after hearing her story, let her stay as a student, on the condition that she didn't eat any of her classmates.

At this point, Taertrix takes a keen interest in the languages of the universe, choosing to study to become a comms officer for the navy. One day, between classes, she meets a Japanese human girl by the name of Yumi. The two quickly become friends, partially due to Yumi receiving regular packages containing Kobe beef. Years pass, and they meet Glein, a mechanic in training. The three end up being something of a team, despite how dysfunctional they are.

Shortly before graduation, Taertrix wakes up (after taking a nap in Yumi's ship) to find herself and the others off in space, with a government mission; to become space pirates. Down the line, they will acquire a magnificent ship, a strong crew, and Yumi would become the Pirate Queen. In the meantime, though, they have to deal with a rather inconvenient lack of fuel.

I could go into extreme detail regarding lore i set for my role play character Metallumere Flowerreaper The First, but instead i'll just say
i eated a cookie and i maded it, which then summoned a calculator that proceeded to tell me i was the chosen one, then it divided by zero, shooting me inside out and waking me up bright and early in the evening, i then had to phrase the correct answer for "Why is a raven like a writing desk?" while also reciting all the digits of pi.
Suddenly i was playing a video game, and it was pretty fun, then there was a door but i eated it too, and suddenly i was looking at this huge monolith thingy that i tried to eated but couldn't because it was created from a singularity, it was really hard and borked my teeth.

The universe then said "Quit eating everything" and i was sent into the future where Tiy ruled the world by promising Starbound but never releasing it, knowing what a horrible future that is i was tasked with making him release it, so then me and Tiy proceeded to wrestle Dwarf Fortress style, but the ☼copper pike☼ hit him in the head, bruising the muscle and tearing apart the brain through the skull. Then i eated Starbound and the world was free from his rule, but then the universe was like "OH NO YOU DI INT" and made me go back to the future, where all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration.

I was then like "What chu wnat from me unavirse?" and it said "You wouldn't believe how often people ask me that".
Then i was suddenly shot back to the present where the calculator said i "Passed the test", and Tiy was going to finally release Starbound.

    You're welcome.

Asimov.png This is Asimov. (I got the name idea from Honda Asimo-robot, I think there's also some sci-fi writer named Asimov)

He used to be a knight. Being very loyal to his king, he fought in many wars against other Glitch kingdoms. He was also a bit too curious..

After he became an exile, he's been wandering around the galaxy. His ship is a mess and the engine is almost out of fuel. Since it's the only choice, he grabs his old sword and teleports on the planet he's close to. The adventure has begun.

He likes the more metallic genres of rock, leather, studded clothes and firearms. According to this, there's totally something wrong in his programming. His personality is mostly kind and even gentle, but he shows it only to people who deserve it. Towards people he doesn't know, he's a bit paranoid, and to his enemies... Let's say if you are his enemy, stay the duck away from him.

Still waiting on Floran naming conventions to come out, but still.
He's definitely concerned about the rapid spreading of this 'new-age' thinking nonsense among his culture. He vaguely gets the idea that other races and organisms -could- be useful in terms of trading things for other things, but most of the time he just views them as possible future meals. Gradually getting viewed in a negative light as a 'traditionalist', he decides to strike out on his own to a Floranspace border world to lure unsuspecting treasure-seekers with rumors of shiny things. It's highly unlikely they'll come back though.

    Prefers ranged combat, stealth, traps
Doesn't like Glitch. Too hard and crunchy.
A bit of a coward when it comes to actual hand-to-hand combat.

As an up-and-coming official among the Apex, Titanus Suok hoped to change the Apex people's way of life through subtle political maneuvering. Having been a successful zoologist and Xenozoologist, Titanus was respected by many for reports on foreign species, and particularly his thesis: Evolution of the Floran Species.

However, his political agenda was seen as dangerous and, should it have been effective, undermining to the current powers-that-be. When Titanus was taken into custody as one of the next generation of test subjects, he used his influence to break out and escape. Regretting that he couldn't help others slated for experimentation, he now seeks out signs of rebellion in order to put his knowledge to use against Miniknog, and someday return the Apex to a path of liberty and independence.

Exial Resmond lived the lavish life. The last 22 years of his life had been catered to his every want and need. Fast cars, pixels in abundance, and five-course meals. While the rest of the planet smoldered in ruin he lived in one of the last havens on the war-torn planet. The rich district of The Bubble, as it was known, was only for the best of the best. His last name had saved him from the draft as his family was the lead manufacturer in medical technology to serve the war effort. Cameras lined the streets and skies of The Bubble. Everything was monitored. The word "privacy" meant nothing. This was the only way to keep them out. The outsiders. Talk about the outsiders was quickly hushed. They were not be mentioned, let alone let in.

Exial held a secret. His name allowed him to do a lot of things. One of things he would regret for the rest of his life. He lived with his father, mother and two brothers. His brothers and him used to make "trips" outside The Bubble. Ventures into the burning wilderness. One day Exial brought something back. Something smuggled in from the outside. They used to take small things. Like trashed weaponry and vehicle parts. Those would often be worth a lot to certain collectors that made a living restoring such things. This thing was much bigger... and it had a name.

Illisa. An outsider that Exial had met on one of his ventures out on his own. Her flowing red hair and stories of far off lands that her family had experienced before coming here filled Exial with joy. She had been in a small village not too far off from The Bubble. She told Exial how she often dreamed of seeing the inside. The untouched metropolis. Long nights she had stared into the distance seeing the massive structure. He was in love. He knew it as soon as he met her. That night Exial took her with him. Back to Resmond Manor. There were plenty of extra rooms. Rooms that often went unchecked. Not even the maids went there. It was the perfect place. Exial made one of the extra bedrooms her safe haven. He brought her food straight from the kitchen so that nobody else would notice and often spent the night with her to keep her company.

Illisa wore an old metal bracelet. She had said that it was passed down from her mother's side of the family. Exial had noticed it had no latch, no way of removing it, but didn't question it. He was blind. He finally had found someone that he had a true connection with and could care less about her taste in jewelry.

It had been a year since Illisa's arrival. Exial was ready to finally introduce her to the rest of the family so that she could live a more reasonable life in the manor instead of living in secrecy. The night before the planned reveal, Exial had brought dinner up to her room. After the meal Exial pulled out a small box. Getting on one knee, Exial asked for Illisa's hand in marriage. Of course her answer was yes. They both laid down in the bed in elated bliss and fell asleep.

A loud bang.... followed by screams from downstairs shocked the lovers from their slumber. More bangs. Louder and louder. More screams. Exial told her to stay put as he went to check the house. The front entrance had been wrecked. Looked like explosives. The body of one of the maids lay sprawled on the floor. Her throat gashed open in a pool of her own blood. Exial ran straight for his brother's rooms. They were gone. Most likely had went to check on their parents. As Exial ran by the kitchen he caught a glance of figures. He peaked around the corner to find them. A group of heavily armed Apex. There in the chairs of the dining room, sat his two brothers and his parents. His brothers dead. Same wound as the maid. Exial tried to hold back the bile that wretched from his stomach but could not stifle the sound. Two of them spun around and headed for the dining room entrance as the third gestured to his parents. A silenced scream. One only cut short by the quick blade of the ape. Exial recognized it as his mother without even having to look. The silence did not last long. Another shout from upstairs. Followed by another bang. Exial not knowing if his father was still alive, sprinted as fast as possible to the Illisa's room. He was too late. As he stood in the forced open doorway, two of the beasts held her. Exial noticed that the bracelet she was wearing was glowing. The Ape only said one sentence. "Thanks for saving us the time." The creature pulled out a small pistol and put it to Illisa's head. Exial ran at the beasts. CRACK. The limp body of the girl fell to the floor. The ape swung his arm and knocked Exial into the wall of the room. The resulting shock sent the light fixture crashing from the wall into Exial's head. As his vision faded, the apes laughed and tore the bracelet from her wrist snapping her lifeless arm in the process. As Exial sat on the floor, they walked out the hole where the door once stood. Everything spun and then went dark.

When Exial awoke, the clock that was barely on the wall across the room told him a few hours had passed. Bright lights shone in from the windows. Not just any lights. The lights of The Bubble's security vehicles. The body of his lover was gone but the splatter of blood remained on the bed and walls.... and her ring on the floor. The very ring that he had just placed on her finger hours earlier. He pocketed the ring and ran downstairs to check the situation. Everything was a blur. One thing was for certain. He didn't want to be here. He wanted to leave. Start over. Nothing was left for him here. He tore past the officers surveying the scene as they tried to stop him for questioning. He grabbed a small suitcase from the cabinet under the stairwell. He bolted outside and into the streets. He made it to the security gate of the city. He stared at the guard and without a word said between them, the gate was opened. He ran and ran. In the distance he saw the village where he had found her almost a year ago. Hate. Hate flowed through him... but also love. The concoction on emotions coursed though his body. As he reached the settlement, a man welcomed him. He asked if anyone knew a way off the planet. Exial knew he couldn't ask anyone inside the city, He couldn't let them know he was responsible for the deaths of the Resmond line.... his family. The man shook his head positively and took Exial into an old hanger on the outskirts of the village. The building was larger than normal. As the man opened the door, Exial caught a glimpse of something. The man's wrist. It was home to a bracelet just like Illisa's. The door of the hanger slid open. The vessel it housed was perfect. Dusty, but perfect. "It has just enough fuel to get you out of the system." the man said. Exial opened the suitcase and pulled out a overly stuffed cloth bag and tossed it at the man. The bag was full of pre-war pixels. Worth millions. The man tossed a small keyring to Exial and told him something that stuck with him. "You would have made a great husband." Unable to respond. Exial gestured to the man, stepped into the ship and was ready to close the boarding ramp. He knew that it was his last chance. He had to ask the man what the bracelet was. As he started to mention the band on the man's arm the man cut him off. "Some things will reveal themselves in time kid. You travel enough and soon you'll have stories to tell just like she did." Exial smiled. A smile that wouldn't have been possible a few minutes earlier. He turned around and as the ramp shut and the auto-pilot engaged, he heard something over the roar of the engines...."She loved you. My dau..." The rest of the words fell under the noise of the thrusters engaging. Before he knew it he had escaped the planet's atmosphere. He was on a journey with no destination. Starting over. New places. New people. He was Starbound.

Kaitlin lived in Queensdale. Rather, she resided there. Without parents, she was the village orphan. Nothing but a burden upon the town. They looked down upon her with contempt and hate. Mummers and whispers, "dead weight" "useless". The other children were told not to play with her, stay as far away as possible. She grew up in obscurity and solitude. After she aged, the village no longer took pity upon the abandoned orphan she wasn't a child anymore. She started to steal food from stands, steal cloths from tailors. Survival by any means necessary. One day, by the hand of the gods or just pure luck, she came upon an unattended bow in the fetcher's shop, snatching it along with a couple of arrows; she found her calling in life. She was a huntress, bulls-eye 300 meters away, down goes the prey. Feeding herself was no longer an issue. Nor was paying for cloths, nor any necessity she needed. Tracking, and taking down the local wild life she made a living for her self. The village no longer looked down at her with contempt, but at 18 years of life Kaitlin no longer wished anything of them. Sitting on a bench alone, alongside one of the village's busy walkways, she observed all the families passing by, taking for granted that which she coveted the most. Love. She then decided that she'd take on the greatest hunt of all. A quest to find her lineage. As a merchant ship docked at the village port, she sneaked into to the cockpit while the crew unloaded the shipment and launched herself into the stars.
