I have to agree, the pridon dungeon is AWESOME in many levels. But I know nothing about that evil destroyer of planets. Also I've seen nothing else that is dark.
I love the setting of you being alone in the universe, escaping from your homeworld for some random reason, often an Outcast. I didn't notice the concept is abandoned beyond this point until ppl started saying that in this thread.

There is a "great evil" that destroys worlds, as is shown in the human intro scene (the tentacles)
There's also plenty of other dark, mysterious and deep stuff if you know where to look! like the fact that florans are cannibals, avians make blood sacrifices, apex are military ruled by their opressor leader, the big ape, etc...

I know it seems like there's not enough dark stuff sometimes, but in every single daily update, the devs stated that they are holding spoilers, so don't worry!
I'm sure there's lots of cool deep stuff to be discovered! (and also tons of silly kiddy stuff )

I don't like something so it should be removed for I am the founder and ceo of the game for paying 15 bucks....(Sarcasm) I would like better roofs as well maybe the ability to set them on fire so the roof, the roof, the roof is(will be) on fire.

Now that I think about it, the main problem I have with Starbound is the fact that it's too cartoony and childish. The game could do with a bit of darker, more grim atmosphere to reflect the reality of space travel, survival, and encounters of the third kind. Similar to the way that Minecraft originally had a more lonesome, unsettling feeling about it, as if something is always watching you as you explore such...artificial worlds. Of course, Minecraft is all cakes, dogs, and dragons now, and it's lost its appeal to me.

The "reality" of space travel.... This is a sci >fi< game you know.

Are you doing that just to spark an argument? Are you legitimately missing the point to what I'm saying? I just can't comprehend how you managed to relate the genre of the game to a discussion of the gritty vs. non-gritty representation of the Starbound setting.

That is because that is it's genre, not to mention the realism of space travel would make the game take place only on earth and not be able to travel far. Encounters of a third kind is not real space travel.

well there is also the fact that whenever someone has an opinion about anything theres always someone to come in and call them either an impatient child and brag about how they had to wait uphill to school both ways, or someone to call them a white knight.

The thing i don't like about starbound... is... OH IDK. MAYBE THAT IT'S NOT OUT YET.
Other than that, probably the warp speed animation. it needs some final touches, like, your spaceship blurrs while in light speed!

I don't mean to alarm anyone.. maybe it is just me... but.... this game seems like it might have a bit of pixelation involved. Crysis is older than this but I think it might be possible that it looks more realistic. Maybe my video card just can't handle the sheer awesome that is starbound in the videos and what I see is a glitch.
Again, it could just be my imagination.. maybe I am remembering older games as much more realistic looking than they were.
Also, I could have sworn we had another dimensional plane. Again, maybe I just see things differently irl.
I feel like, maybe objects in the real world might have depth and all that stuff.

Also, I am pretty sure aliens do not look like that.
Humans don't either, now that I think about it...
I am probably just hideously ugly and the stunningly realistic works of art in the game are professional models.

    I need to re-evaluate some things.... :(

Lol j/k j/k. I am just kidding. I love this game and the way it is presented. My friends and I are obsessing over it and waiting for release date.

Wow! The movement is so fluid and detailed. I am amazed! I certainly wish my graphics card was that nice. I don't think I could afford one that nice. I can run most games at high settings but I think this game might have the best graphics yet! I heard the new pokeyman game is nice too, it has 3d and everything now.
I am so excited! I kind of want to go visit Home Labyrinth right now and get a good GTX CASEMELTER-NEUTRONSTAR 400 Series to run this but I think my cooling won't be enough. Do you think they used motion capture for the animation in that video?

I dislike the amount of character customization. There are many ways to customize, don't get me wrong, but you're bound to see someone who looks just like you.

I usually challenge them to duels if they try to impersonate me.
You could also pretend to be their evil doppelganger twin and chase them around howling about how you will replace them and that their friends like you better because you have a shining personality?

The only problem that I have with it is... Uh, how do I put this... To random? I mean, yeah, random generation is good and all, but if you're in a really scary dungeon and there are corpses everywhere and everything, but the final boss is a giant fluffy bunny... It kinda loses all feeling/atmosphere to the entire thing. Like a buzzkill. I guess I wish that the game could be more serious than what it is now. I like games that make me feel like "This world actually could be real.", not games that emphasize that it's... Well, a game.

Well I'm using some bits of wire and a few logic boards ripped out of an old Atari 5200, so my graphic settings aren't even maxed out! Imagine if I could get my hands on an old Sega 32x! Then my machine would really rip through some benchmarks!
