What's The Most Saltiest Thing That Has Ever Happened To You In A Video Game?

I tried FO2 and like first enemy (a rat, IIRC) you walk up to... miss miss miss miss miss. I was like "uh... this game is really showing its age." ... never did play after that.

I really don't understand why late 90s and early 00s people thought that having a 40% chance to hit in games was fun.

    Me neither.

Though I think you were supposed to know what you were doing there (which you usually don't when first starting a game). If you didn't create a killing machine at the character creation, well, then you wouldn't be one.
What's annoying about that game is that it is obvious you'll want to put skill points in guns. Because it is suicide to rush a dude with a minigun. But you start with melee weapons. If you put your points in melee at the start, however, you'd have to kill everything in melee combat until you earned enough points to actually be half-decent in a gunfight. All while they are blowing your head off...

It didn't give off the same vibe as FO3. It didn't draw me in with anything. There's probably a specific reason why it didn't do so, but I can't put my finger on it. I loved NV the most. The only time I ever had a problem was after blowing up the ghouls a group of some faction attacked me. Had to reload save so many times.
For some reason FO4 felt more like single player Borderlands than successor of FO3.

That's one of the reasons why I can't play Morrowind anymore...

I wonder if they ever finished that huge Skywind project.....

Nope, still in production. The latest development video is from march 4, this year.
What you SHOULD want is OpenMW to finish. Open-source Morrowind all the way.

Eh, Morrowwind uses a decaying and rotting game engine which is incredibly prone to crashes (the ONLY Bethesda game I ever had trouble with, despite other people claiming their games are lousy for crashing), and rather old assets. Even if it were Open-Source, it would surely take a monumental amount of work to actually complete a game of Skyrim's quality using Morrowwind's locale/story.

I'd think it'd actually be easier to just import Morrowind into Skyrim via a Mod (which is what Skywind actually is). And even then, it's a lot of work.

    Let's see...
Been replaying Pokemon Colosseum, realized how much I was looking at the game through nostalgia goggles. I rage-quit twice so far (freakin' Remoraid, why are you ten levels lower than everything else???!!!) Not looking forward to snagging Entei either, because that's the one part I KNOW I got way salty about way back when (the trainer uses earthquake a lot. Which hits teammates. And Entei is super-weak to it...)
Town of Salem gets me salty a lot. Probably the worst round was when the jailor was friends IRL with some of the evil roles, and town lost because they gamethrew. Gamethrowing in general.
Don't Starve: Shipwrecked got me so salty (pun intended) I quit. Between shitty worldgen and not being able to revive like in Together, nope.
And fall damage. Game doesn't matter. Fall damage.

I love fall damage. Games without one just feel wrong to me now.

Depends on the context and the rest of the gameplay to be honest. I'll accept fall damage in a game like Bethesda games, Terraria, or the old 2D Prince of Persia... it made sense. Starbound, I'm on the fence about. I feel that worldgen seems to really hate exploration because it creates these huge sheer cliffs that you oftentimes get hurt while trying to climb or go down the other side and it takes a bit too long to unlock the bouncy tech for my liking, but I suppose it isn't THAT big of a deal.

There are games, however, where fall damage makes no sense (like Warframe) and I'm glad there is no fall damage in those games. Warframe is a special case -- there IS a penalty for falling too far, but it isn't damage, but rather several frames of recovery which can be rather detrimental to you in certain situations. You certainly don't want to take a fall in the middle of a bunch of hostile enemies because you're unable to move for about a second and a half while your character lands on all fours, pause a split second and then has to stand up before you can move.

It's not the mechanic that bothers me. It's that 99% of the time when I take fall damage, it's because I did something stupid, like digging straight down. And THAT'S what gets me salty.

I do like how Terraria handles it, though. In early mid-game, you can get equipment that renders you immune to fall damage. So I can protect myself from my own stupidity :nurutease:

That's what I used rope early game for. Later you'll have a grappling hook so rope is 100% useless. Also, bouncy should be available as soon as you get your first tech card, or am I remembering wrong?

Bouncy isn't in the nightly build. Instead there's a bunch of morph ball variants. I mostly use double-jump to avoid fall damage, but my timing isn't the best.

The real sword up my bum?
Reading a scroll of enchant weapon while confused turns the currently wielded weapon into a possessed weapon...
    I was promptly three shot...

Game crashes. I can handle just about any random nonsense a game will intentionally throw at me. But instant crash without warning is just infuriating.

Power outages. This is why I don't like games where you can't save on the fly and/or games that have auto-save often. Even Starbound gets on my nerves, because sometimes I'll have a power outage and it was in the process of auto-saving and I suddenly lose all of my teleport lists... cuuuute now I have to dig through a lot of planet files to find them again. sigh.
