What's the difference with races?

I've been looking at this a bit throughout the forums and stuff but everything I've found has been really outdated. I was wondering if there were any differences between the races besides aesthetic, particularly stat differences or recipe differences. For example, do Hylotls craft different weapons at a Manipulator or Accelerator than Novakids? Also, how hard is it to collect recipes for other races, if it's possible? Thanks for any help

 

I remember in World of Warcraft, each race had different racial boosts. The Tauren, for instance, have Brawn and Cultivation. (which I think increases either attack or defense attributes, and increase their ability to use herbalism.)

I think Starbound needs to do something with races and give them unique racial traits.

I have a feeling Starbound will only truly be finished when 2.0 arrives *lol*

 

Starbound lacks unique racial traits because a: it'd be hard to balance and b: it'd suck to not be able to play the race you like the look of the most just because their racial traits countersynergize with your playstyle.

 

Thanks for all the help, but are there different recipes for each race? Also, how hard is it to acquire the recipes of one race while playing a different race?

 

You can also get other race's armor (except the endgame ones) from merchants.

 

As far as I know, the only race with any difference in vanilla is the Novakid. They glow, and can craft a different selection of (more ranged oriented) weapons .

 

In Beta there was racial weapons. They didn't have any special different stats, but sure as hell they looked unique. Also Each race has a different ship layout and size when fully upgraded.

 

There is none in vanilla, except for armor and the novakid weapons.
