What's the deal with the console ports?

At one point this game had a PS4 trailer and then it disappeared, then it had an Xbox One trailer and then it disappeared so what's going on? Is this game still coming to consoles at all?

 

Still coming to Xbox. PS4 is unknown.

 

Given they haven't said squat about it in well over a year nothing is "known" at this point. They wanted to take advantage of Xbox's early access program to have the game tested before release but business wise if supporting two consoles is too much for them it would make far more sense to prioritize the PS4 which has a double install base than the Xbox so a lot more potential customers there. But IF they ever release on consoles I suspect it'll be for both the PS4 and XB1.....unless they intend to wait for PS5/XB2 and line it up with the launch of those consoles.....that would potentially give them more exposure and less competition out of the gate but also small install bases to start with.

 

It hasn't been "More than a year". They have said it was still in the works for Xbox like 2 months ago.

Not off hand, but that really isn't necessary. Compiling a list of every time they have confirmed this doesn't really do anything. They have maintained that the XBox version is coming, they are still active, haven't gone off the grid or anything, and have already stated that Starbound already works on the XBox, so we have little reason to doubt them.

 

Again....no link means nothing to me. Anyone can claim anything but there have been zero articles or proper updates addressing this....soo yeah. Other than whatever you think you saw but have no link for there has been absolutely nothing on this for well over a year.

Oh they outsourced it to a 3rd party for porting.....because absolutely nothing could possibly go wrong there. So they gave up on porting it handed it over to someone else....that's going to go well.
