    R: Shield / Stim packs/ Situational Weapon

6 - 10 often exchange places with building materials and fun items

    1. 2H melee
    2. 2H gun
    3. pick / drill
    4. varies, but I often stick a "torture" bed in here, since it's hardly much slower than bandages. Good for when I have time to kill and lots of healing to do.
    5. varies, but I often stick a nano-stove in here at lower levels when armor doesn't have enough insulation. Great for staying on the move when mining in cold places
    6. varies, but I often use it for dirt / sand blocks
    7. food
    8. bandages
    9. platforms
    0. torches

    L/R option 1 - 1h melee / 1h melee (great DPS option)
    L/R option 2 - 1h melee / shield
    L/R option 3 - 1h gun / shield
    L/R option 4 - grappling hook / flashlight

Cool duplicate thread you have here. I don't blame you, though, the other thread doesn't have "hotbar" in the title so it's pretty hard to find.

Might as well stick my new hotbar here though

L/R Sword/Sword <- High DPS let's me end encounters quicker than they become a problem
1.) Greatsword <- Better for aerial combat and knock back for if things are getting crowded
2.) Ranged Weapon <- Preferably a pistol so I can still have a sword equipped.
3.) Pick Axe <- Cause we DIG
    4.) Flash Light
    5.) Torches
    6.) ???
    7.) ???
    8.) ???
    9.) Blocks <- Always Useful
10.) Bandages <- For my boo boos

6,7,8 tend to get filled with whatever utility item I want to be there. This is often building materials if I'm at my base, or bombs/javelines/etc if I am not. Sometimes I put weapons I'm not sure I wanna keep in here so I can try them out for a bit.

I still find it interesting people still carry around the matter manipulator. I think you can still place blocks and things without it being in a hotbar (perhaps not even in your inventory)

That does, however, show that there's room for improvement in how the manipulator functions, since almost everyone here seems to want it on their bar, and I honestly can't think of what it can do that you can't do with a better tool (and maybe a block ledge)

Ooh, I was hoping to see something like this. Actually wanted to know how people did their hotbars, and was actually going to make a thread. Glad to see it already running!

Hooboy, let's see... Away from game atm, so let's hope I remember.

    1. Grappling Hook ( I used to have wooden platforms on another slot, but the grappling hook combined with bubble boost means traveling in style from now on! Though this is a recent change, so perhaps I will put w.Planks on another slot )

    2. Iron Bow ( Good to have. Not much use for damage, but if a monster's getting low I can pick up some meat for Burgers )

    3. Diamond Drill ( Choice breaker. Can even replace an axe if I don't want to bother reaching into my inventory for it )

    4. Shield ( Close to my WASD, I hit "4" whenever I fight ranged enemies, especially fliers. Right click to fire my weapon on R, left click to block. Saved my ass and made me feel bad ass against the Dragon's fire )

    5. Flashlight ( Always useful for on-the-go light )

    L. Two Handed Weapon (Currently a Ferozium Sword, though I usually use found weapons. Always Broadswords and Hammers, things with reach and swing, and ideally wind/lightning element)

    R. Machine Pistol (Recently replaced my bouncy plasma pistol, which is a shame, but the new piece is certainly a lot stronger! Having my gun on my off hand means using it alongside the grappling hook, shield, or flashlight depending on the situation)

    6. Torches ( Again, always useful... I don't use them often, as I'm not usually below ground, but there are plenty of reasons to use them even on the surface )

    7. Plasma Rifle ( pew pew pew! An awesome weapon, and my favorite gun in my arsenal. I use it against distant enemies without ranged attacks. I can also use it for pseudo flares! )

    8. Rocket Launcher ( why the fuck not )

    9. Bandages / Healing ( I have access to a stim pack merchant, and I've been stockpiling red stims, but bandages are usually enough for my hit-and-run. Actually, maybe I can do just fine with NanoWrap? They're certainly cheaper... Or maybe a food item... )

    10. ...? (Not sure, but since I recently reconfigured my hotbar, maybe nothing particular. Flares or some other consumable loot, probably)

Meanwhile, in my inventory... I have cooked meats, but those are just leftover from when I used to cook them. Now I keep them raw, so I can make Burgers with them. I am also considering using something easier to make, like Boltbulbs, for food, so every now and then I have a dozen or so of those with me. My stone axe is also in the inventory, along with a small collection of consumable loot (plasma grenade, kinetic javelin, flares, etc) which I may need to place in my hotbar. I also have my instrument of the day (I favor the Reed Organ or maybe the Bass), Snow Infantry chest piece, and some other things I might find reason to need. I keep food and such in the inventory because I don't find it a hassle to open the inventory, and I don't need to select food quickly.

On a side note, I too kept the Matter Manipulator on my number 1 slot for a long time. Took me a while to notice I wasn't hitting it's key.

    R: Machine pistol/grenade launcher.
    6. Unrefined Wood
    7. Grappling hook/Wiring Tool/Paint Gun depending on the situation.
    8. Food, usually burgers.
    9. Cobblestone, for building bridges and stuff.
    10. Healing items - Usually red stimpacks, occasionally nanowraps or normal bandages. For best healing rate, apply a stimpack and then sleep in a tent or something similar for the duration of regen.
