What you hope for melee weapons

The only thing I hope for is the for the team to be putting as much consideration in to melee as they seem to be putting in to ranged combat. Almost everything I see weapon wise is talking about all the cool aspects of ranged combat. I really want melee combat to be just as involved and have just as much variety in weapons.

 

Well. I saw Tiy use a sword on a mob and it did 200 damage a hit.

I saw his flamethrower do 2 a hit.

..... Still getting the flamethrower. I will die if he invents a flamethrower sword though.

 

Any sort of ultra massive hammers, axes, and swords, I just wanna stagger enemies, crush them into a pulp, and knock them back a fair distance. Also, a few months ago, I mentioned wanting fist weapons, like brass knuckles or the power fists from Fallout. Really, I love anything that can hit hard, like an energy impact gun (if you can picture that). For small weapons, I want something that can hit fast while ignoring the enemy's shields.

 

I want a GIGANTIC hammer that will hit the ground with an explosion that will actually blow up the blocks it hits.

 

Damn straight, give me a ultra heavy energy hammer that will send enemies out of the atmosphere.

 

Two hit combos, a counter and a block function supported by both weapons and shields. Shields blocking more damage that a block with a weapon.

A freezing lance that shoots out spikes of ice.

 

As much diversity as ranged weapons.

 

This. I hope we have every kind of melee weapon imaginable . Swords, Knives, Scythes, Hammers, Pitchforks, Pipes, Bricks, everything.

 

I do want to see two handed weapons but not handled like they are in Terraria. In Terraria, the weapons look absurdly large and the player swings them by the tip of the bottom of the hilt. It looks stupid. That applied to all that game's weapons. I'm glad to see that it isn't the case in Starbound but I'd hate to see weapons quadruple the size of the player.

 

Sorta agree with you, as long as the massive weapons are like, end game weapons, then it's good for me, sorta like a reward for getting to the end.

 

I would like just a plain hand gun or something like that. I'm really not that creative....

ive many great hopes for melee weapons, hopefully some of these concepts can be spoofed and utilized.

in the realm of lightsabers i hope that we get some Darth Maul styled lightsabers



for melee bladed weapons mayhaps some ideas similar to these melee weapons could get introduced




other great melee items that would be awesome to get incorporated into Starbound are the Predator Smart Disc, couldnt you use it like a fist and throw the things?


and of course Cybernetic Arms (if we are getting mechs theres got to be a way to beat a mech to the ground) ^_^
maybe some nice tech upgrades to incorporate into them.

 

I would quite like a chair as a melee weapon
