    Hello Everyone!

I know that Starbound is in early Alpha and there are still many things to be implemented and changed, but what would you like to see happen?

Personally, i would like to have the ability to upgrade the Matter Manipulator, or be able to craft better versions of it.

It's actually more like Late Alpha/Early Beta
I don't know to be honest. The game isn't finished yet, they are still adding content.
More interactive furniture I guess. Maybe usable computers to store ingame text documents.

ive never seen any text documents, are you talking about the logs?

He talks about creating such so you can for example register what you store where.
I would like to see every species having a home planet, always at the same coordinates and content.

Would be nice if they would optimize the game along the way. And I would like to see weapons drop earlier, as part of the progression.

Yes. I want to write logs for planet coords, what crops are native to each planet, my own journal, etc.

Most of all, I suppose I'd like to see more types of ummm, not sure what to call them... Complexes I suppose. Sort of like above/below ground dungeons, cities, apex sci fi labs etc. As it is now I've been running into an Apex scifi lab on almost every other planet, it's gotten to where it's rather dull as you can just dig around all those electric shockers to get to the high tech chest where by this point you know where it's going to spawn.

Game needs a lot more variation in those complexes.

2nd of all would be better loot optimization. Way too many "crappy" weapons of all sorts.

3rd would be an in-game notepad to keep my notes, things like planet coordinates, or just general notes to myself, these should not be game save specific but player specific so that I can access any of them from any character.

4th would be planetary bookmarks so that I can bookmark planets and leave a note next to them to remind myself why it is that I'm bookmarking them for easy finding later on.

    5th... Hmmm, no 5th I guess. lol

Oh yes, a 5th would be to do away with the whole pickaxe, axe, hoe system and just use the matter manipulator to do all their jobs and upgrade it each tier so that it's faster and digs more blocks etc. I think this is a serious stumbling block for Starbound to have a race that is capable of flying around in a ship and then have to use a pickaxe that works better than the matter manipulator you are given at the start of the game.

If they're dead set on the whole pickaxe, axe, hoe system then just do away with the matter manipulator and make us punch trees to get started in the world to get a wooden pickaxe and then proceed like that. As it is now, either the matter manipulator or the tools are out of place together in the same game.

Btw I got some coordinates in Alpha sector with an Avian ship, you can buy Weapons for ~600 Pixels.
    Have to search them out...

I'd like to see a Mining Mech. Yes. A mech that would dig into the planet's core. That would be awesome. :megusta:

Also the crafting guns. Guns that actually kill.

That sounds great! But I think I'll wait for a couple more updates before I get back to Starbound. Currently a bit laggy for my liking in some areas.

I would change the art-style to be more rounded and smooth and less pixelated....

Core gameplay changes first, then content...

I don't like that 'balance' has been achieved through the gating off of galaxies and the strict drip-control of armors. I would far prefer a single galaxy. Chucklefish seem to have a crippling fear of players becoming over-powered, leading to evidently segregated rather than integrated content. Some players will find expedient ways of 'rushing' the game, and Chucklefish should let them if that's what they want to to.

Loot overhaul required. Armor should be added to loot tables. Less rigid scaling of stats for all items. More exciting, varied uniques & rares.

Crafting recipes need adjusted for consistency, logic, and to reduce spikes in grind-requirement. Need option to hide obsolete recipes.

Introduce ability to upgrade items/techs through crafting, or otherwise retain some purpose to mining after best items crafted.

    Use of multiple techs.

Some passive grind to motivate play.

I would rather bosses were random encounters on appropriately tiered planets.

I would like specific types of monsters to attack our homes/bases so it would make base building more important aspect of gameplay (rather then building for the sake of building).

Many things! But 2 shine brightly in my mind.

    1. Fix combat.
Every enemy is boring. They might look funny, but they're idiots, and have no special flavor. They are obviously combinations of premade "moves" retextured over and over. I feel like in trying to make the game so much bigger than something like terraria, they forgot that they have to give it heart. So far(I'm not far, at all by the way) there's nothing unique about a single enemy I've found. Bird retextures, charge retextures, bloody vomit retextures. Blah

Also, the combat is clunky and un-responsive. But thats the kinda thing they're probably working on.

    2. Stuff to...do?

I know I probably built this game up in my head a bit too much, but I imagined a quantum leap situation, a space cowboy, righting wrongs where he finds them, hoping the next jump will be the one that takes him home. I thought planets would have life on them, not mindless NPC. Are there villages? The roadmap says the stuff is like 80% done, but there's 0% interesting-ness on the planets, 80% of 0 is 0. Please give me quests, large villages, planet lore, easter eggs, NPCs with flabor, storylines, an end to quests, planets with culture (not just random dungeons attached haphazardly so I find a human bunker and avian temple on the same surface)....

    ...yeah I guess I'm a bit too demanding @.@

Using pixels for a game like Starbound is far more time-efficient.
Personally, I think the sprite work in Starbound is topnotch.

First thing that comes to mind is the collision detection in combat. Doesn't feel 'physical' enough to me.. Sure, there's knockback but it doesn't feel as consistent as it should.
Sometimes you barely hit a mob, like a few pixels worth and it registers.. Other times they seem to pass right through your swipe. I feel there ought to be a better and more consistent 'biting' point if you know what I mean.

I agree, I barely even pay attention to the what the monster looks like, I merely just acknowledge where it is and attack / avoid as needed.
