What would a hylotl's bathroom/toilet/water closet/load gaper looks like?

Or: "How does hylotls release their biological waste"
What would an underwater personal bowel movement assisting device looks like? And furthermore, how exactly does the hylotl process their food and what kind of excrement would they have?

This thread is for discussion about the topic of what the hylotl use to remove individual ejectamenta , and also about what happens inside a hylotl, what comes out of them, and where does those things comes out?

May or may not be an excuse to call "poop" and "toilet" in as many different words as possible.

So we all know the hylotl just goes for a swim whenever they want to wash themselves...but what about when they need to release waste from their biological processes? Would they do it like fishes? Just...let it float?

I am building my hylotl ship filled with water, and that thought makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. Probably will have to put a lot of vents to represent filters.

 

Well, Hylotl are amphibious. I imagine they keep their commodes wherever their designated "dry land" area is. Otherwise, two words - vacuum toilet.

Filtration and recycling would be a given. Even Hylotl admit they do a lot of recycling when it comes to water. Examine a fountain with the N-key as a Hylotl when you get the chance.

 

Well there are assets for most of those kind of stuff... Think high-tech modern, similar to what many of the cities in japan would look like. With even more neon and color... Then again they are pretty colorful in their architecture. My sister pretty much says the place reminds her of the 70s.... At least in the cities.

However what is in the assets is more high-tech looking I think. I mean they are the only ones that I have seen in the assets to have plushies and storefronts in koala edition. Now outpost covers a few others. Shopping arcade and mini malls, all with built-in blast doors. Well they got to keep the water out somehow. Even movie posters, and a colorful bar & signs galour...

Then there is the edo style or asian style architecture of the past they have as well... Mainly in the building blocks... Think that was meant as the surface dwelling, and the high-tech ones for the underwater cities...

 

From what I understand, Hylotl were forced underwater by Florans? I read that in one of the Lorebits way back when, so it may have changed. Being Amphibianey I think they have a sort of Rapture (bioshock) setup, where they have suits for dealing with the heavy pressure, but mostly have domes or even floating structures ala Sealab 2021 on stilts or whatnot. That being said as prissy as they seem to come off (not a fan of that myself) but I think they'd have that on lockdown as much as other races give them flak for 'looking down on them' or codexey 'the less cultured' n so on.

 

Actually the Florans forced the Hylotl off their home planet entirely.
Hylotl are based on Axolotl and love water.

 

I think they use modified toilets that send the waste to a designated area, where it is then disposed of. After all, there ARE Hylotl toilet stalls in the game's assets, from last time I checked.

And I'm also surprised that none of the roleplaying Floran users replied to this thread yet. (Tamorr is an exception since s/he doesn't really dislike the Hylotl.)

 

Are there hylotl toilet stalls? O-o I haven't noticed any from the admin mode.

 

theres a huge field/canyon they swim into, there's ropes of fish poop everywhere and they swimpoop around until it falls off.

 

Think fish tank. I would think they would just use filters and stuff. I mean, that's exactly how a fish tank works and it sounds like your ship would be just one big fish tank.

 

While that is true that they can simply live like in a fish tank and use filter everywhere, I imagine the hylotl would prefer a more discreet way of doing their "businesses". Also, you don't want to contaminate the environment on a spaceship. That is how disease spreads.

 

probably because there is not a recipe for it, just an item in the assets. If you are referring to the printer objects when viewing in admin. They would need a recipe in order to show there I think.

Since i haven't looked at the assets in this recent version I don't even know if the items are the same name anymore. I have only seen the items in the koala edition, and don't see them deleting something like that when there is so much of it and the fact they want to add the stuff in later. There is quite a bit last I know of. Including sake... or something like that... I think there are bathroom signs in there too.

Anyway I wouldn't know how to call up those objects with admin commands, mainly due to not knowing the exact name and location...

Also, I think they use normal toilets. Only they're underwater.

Because of this post, I had to googled "Why does poop floats".

...I don't want to talk about that research process.

But I will tell of what I found with my quick research - apparently (human)feces don't normally float, unless you have gas problem or your body can't absorb nutrients properly that cause your excrement to have gas or other things that are lighter than water in it.

This bring us to a question about hylotl biology though. How do they process their food, and from where do they release their waste? Maybe the slime from their body is not just...slime. Updating the original post to widen the topic.

 

Like I said, vacuum toilet. Same way astronauts poo without it floating back up due to microgravity.

Seriously. Imagine this with sleeker lines and more aesthetically pleasing curves, and you've got a Hylotl commode.

 

I imagine that would be quite interesting. When a normal toilet broke, you got water flooding all over the place. Where as a broken hylotl toilet would sucks all the water.

Hyotyls are extremely efficient in their food consumption, so they produce very little waste. However, there are some minerals which the Hyotyls are unable to consume, so the Hyotyls store the waste-products in their scales, and shed off the scales later at more convenient times.
