I'm going to ride a space penguin.

 

Run around like a child and squeal happily in real life (resulting in being dumped by my creeped out partner, shunned by my nongaming friends, and the destruction of my sense of reality) and basically go insane. Waste ammo and shoot at trees. Explore and die and laugh myself off my chair when I do.

Oh wait. That's more than 1 thing. Oops.

 

If this isn't feeling alive then I don't know what is

I'll build, make my character look decent, give him a weapon of my liking (Assuming you do that in this game.)

Oh. And I'll customize the hell out of my ship.

hard to say just what one might do first when we are not sure yet what all will be available immediately to a new character, though If I've been reading around right it seems I'd be seeking out blueprints for some decent weapons and catching some fun and unique monsters. Likely to change as we get more info!

I'll probabily go looking for the greatest weapons you can find as a newbie, and get to know what suits me best. After that, it's planet destroying exploring time!

 

I tend to get small bases/beachheads together quickly and then deep dive into exploration mode. I suspect and hope it will be no different here.

Nothing is more satisfying and fun to me than exploring the depths of what a level/world/game has to offer. I like to take my time and enjoy the little surprises.

Get good gear, die by falling, improving gear, die by sand, improve gear, die by easiest enemy... What usually happens.

 

I will make a character and start adventuring.

 

Look at the title screen/opening cutscene. It's kinda unavoidable, really.
