What weathers would you like to see?

On topic: Bananas. Lots and lots of bananas.

 

I will try to keep my thought process on topic, but it will be hard to derive back from the flurry of tangents which affect it.
What about a magnetic storm that switches the polarity of blocks? Magnetic blocks... different metals are affected. Or a flood of visible sound that pushes stuff around with shock waves and breaks glass. Tangible rainbows with real treasure at the end? Reverse lightning that shoots at the sky? Lightning rods... Tesla coils? The whole raining random critter storm (dogs, cats, bears, frogs, gonzos, locusts, birds, etc...) volcanoes? Musical weather that causes crazy fast or just plain crazy growth. Different effects on plant/animal life depending on the style of song? anti-gravity blocks similar to the old solar-jetman game? Tractor beams? Magnetic storm that shoots tractor beams?!? Animals/Plants that can terraform certain materials on their own? Plague? Flu/Cold? Geysers? Oil deposits? Planetary pimples full of something random? Do they burst after growing to big? Ocean currents/Air Currents, maybe a Double or triple sun? OR RAINBOW... o.0 ...or moon. Lunar tides? More moons = stronger tides? Various normal destructive weather patterns already mentioned by previous posters. Fire and brimstone?.. volcanic aftermath... ash clouds coat the nearest locations in ash and block light of surrounding area, slowly killing off nearby plant life unless the hole is plugged up or the eruption ends. Bubble weather? Tangible yet light and bouncy? Affects gameplay just enough to make it hilariously irritating..? Whips to swing with? Reverse gravity worlds where you fall away from them? Bouncy gel water? The rain soaks into the ground, but make puddles that slowly evaporate in the sun (if they are small?) rain puts out normal torches and maybe bonfires? bonfires keep some mobs at bay? Fragmented worlds? travel from piece to piece via ship or teleportal? (yes that was intentional) Triblets? Asteroid impact.. oh yeah, already implemented in terraria. shipwrecks. floating water droplets due to very low gravity? sentient feather monster? flying pigs. Bosses and machines that affect weather patterns? Mad scientists? Nests that produce baddies until destroyed? Pollen making plants that release when hit with strong wind... what does the pollen do? It could rain darkness? Monsters made from dark energy? It could rain kitchen sinks... Plumber's planet, what a pipe dream! You could even traverse the intricate network of perilous pipature, full of mushrooms and moldy fungal monsters and love..? Mutagen! Holiday themed weather patterns and/or planets? I must be hungry because all I can think of now is sandwich rain while fighting a BLT monster with a 2' Philly cheese steak. must... find... kitchen... Naturally occuring Sugar crystals, caves made of, insect people protect. Hives of giant bees? Salt pillars? Seasons? Sudden frosts? Evergreens? Intergalactic spores? BRAINSTORM!

 

Hm... Grease rain, on a planet made out of meat.

 

An actual dangerous rain would be amazing, something that would make you run in fear to shelter. Not too harsh though, something that might... Dampen your spirits. Possibly pour on your dreams for a gentle breeze.

I would very much like to see severe blizzards and dust storms.

One mechanic I think would add an interesting challenge are floods resulting from heavy rains.

To expand on this idea; there are the obvious structural implications. Only using wood doors? Have a structure that isn't sealed up tight? Good luck living in it after a flood rolls in.

You know that dangerous species of shark you avoid because it can snap a man in two with a single bite? It seems that your former shelter is their idea of a perfect habitat.

There are more complex possibilities as well, but I like this even in the limited form.

 

As long as I can has my trusty bucket, I think I'm good with that idea.

 

Don't forget oxygen tanks to deal with those pesky sharks!

 

Sleet! More commonly known as freezing rain, it covers everything in a slippery surface of doom! can be melted with heat producing elements! oh, and Weather in a jar?

 

Evil smog that revives everything it touches with a desire to kill whatever is near by.

 

Acid rain, of course! Can you imagine a newb who just finished building their house, only to have their roof be melted down and then pelted with acidic liquid?
