What weathers would you like to see?

I love this idea! It would be the perfect silence breaker when everything seems normal and fine when out of nowhere the whole feel of the planet gets changed by a massive volcano. I would actually like to see some planets be able to be shaped by crazy cataclysmic events like this or even show evidence of it after it happened.

What happens if there happens to be a fire-type creature around?

 

Then the player gets to experience a whole new world of fun and excitement!

 

ACID RAIN!, Stay inside or you will feel the pain!~ ACID RAIN!, On the ground the plants will light a flame! ACID RAIN~!

 

Metallic rain, possibly? Maybe cause some slow poisoning that gets worse as you stay out longer, and changes the colour of flames exposed to it?

 

Diarrhea rain.. now THAT would be one smelly planet

 

Cat rain. No exceptions.

 

At least all these basics -- hail, torrential rainstorms, snow. Ashfall, acid rain and lots of other neat stuff would be nice. Let's see some ice geysers and metallic rain, bubblestorms and cats falling from the sky

I'd be ok if weather was purely cosmetic, but I doubt it will be and it'll be cool if it isn't. There are so many possibilities, like a change in what creatures you'll encounter. I can imagine in rain there will be shallow puddles (0.5x0.5) and maybe pockets of water from torrential rain. Maybe a water-based monster comes out in the rain, and a harvestable flower blooms.

Metallic rain would be awesome. Maybe it could change water/oil/acid pools by a low chance? I really hope there's some sort of effect by weather, no matter how little

 

And even a monster that mysteriously appears out of shallow puddles to attack momentarily and disappears just as quickly back into a puddle

 

Evil organic planet rains living goo that tries to eat you.
And that leaves the material of the goo to be determined like lava goo or fleshy goo or ice cream goo.

 

I want something like snow, molten fire raining down, cheese sauce rain, and tornadoes.

 

Alternating gravity storms:

• Comes in the form of clouds
• Contains small sharp bits of rocks
• Rocks do small damage when you come into contact with them but only when they are in motion
• Clouds surrounds a small to large area on the planet.
• Gravity in the clouds changes every 3-5 seconds
• You could be picked up high enough to throw you to the outside of the cloud where you would fall and take fall damage

That would make having a jet pack or grappling hook a really valuable tool on certain planets that have this.

 

Depending if we're looking for weather that is plainly cosmetic....or weather that can affect the landscape and other mobs is a good question. The weather station that you can potentially build has me intrigued. I mean come on, if you can build a station, and pick different parameters for your weather to have like....rain, lightning, snow, wind speeds...maybe even a built in security system that when triggered....lets say through proximity....throws deadly objects into the weather like tree trunks, hail, spikes, etc. The possibilities make me giddy

 

Something that triggers a full on willy-willy? (Pay no attention to the wikipedia article on the term, there's nothing "harmless" about sideways-rolling tornadoes that come in groups, filled with scouring grit, razor sharp rocks known as gibbers, and any bits of trees and other things that have been torn up along the way. "Dust devil", pah!)

 

Haha, "willy-willy"? Never knew it was an actual term for such a thing!

 

Yeah, it's kinda funny how the name for something horribly unpleasant in one language can be totally silly in another.

 

radiation storms would be intresting would need special gear or a shelter to make it through one of those
