yeah, i think that would be cool to have extreme sunlight, maybe it could hurt you if you're exposed too long and perhaps even cause water to evaporate on the surface, kinda like the opposite of a flood. And speaking of floods i think they would be nice, if the water level on the surface actually rose from a really heavy rainfall, perhaps even acid rain floods!

Also, maybe various fog densities could be cool, might be annoying, but if it was done well it could be a nice touch.

Green goop drops that form in the air that make the air thick and hard to breathe easily (the thickness causes formation of the mid-air droplets of goo). The droplets of goop could form slowly, fall quickly, and gather at the surface of the world in a form similar to stalagmites that act as barriers for you to climb over or knock down via attack or weapon. The background should turn a faded, dark-green and your movement should be slowed when walking through the floating and forming droplets and maybe even when walking through built up piles of goop.

It's basically Ooblek from Dr.Seuss except it forms in mid-air and stacks up like stalagmites. :x

What about alien cocoon shower boss, we're loads of tiny cocoon's come showering down and when they hit the ground the cocoons break open and they start attacking.
Think of it as like the goblin army but they are alien's and are falling from space!

I think it would also be cool if there were small clouds that lowered to the surface of a planet and generated so much energy inside of it that it becomes a portal that links to other clouds on the planet and you could use them for random teleportation. :alien:

Oh and another one I just thought of: A veil of electromagnetic energy that occasionally comes down and hits the surface, bouncing back up to the atmosphere quickly after. It could have an EMP-type effect on any technology you're carrying (including your suit if used on a planet where a suit is needed to safely walk on the surface) and maybe even do damage. You'd basically have so move from shelter to shelter and time your trips to make sure you made it safely back under some sort of cover before the electro-veil comes back down. I could come up with interesting weather like this all day :)

Have volcanoes been mentioned yet? A good eruption can spew a lot of dust and ash to make a perpetual twilight or even night in areas covered by the cloud, plus there'd be bits and pieces of ash floating down to the ground. There'd also be the risk of glass shards and other ejecta plummeting from the sky to make things interesting.

I did like the idea of oil rain, especially if it makes surfaces slippery. May I also suggest some form of hallucenogenic rain or mist that only affects you if you're caught in it, and doesn't necessarily let you know you've been affected until the monster you're fighting fades away? Maybe display messages from other people as random lines out of the chat log or something, so they can't immediately tell you you're shooting at empty space, or possibly make them look like an enemy if they're on your screen.

I vote laser rain. Like, I dunno, weird atmospheric phenomenon that somehow magnify incoming energy from a nearby source, resulting in high-intensity showers of lasers.

But on a more general/serious note, it'd be nice to have more harmful weather effects that changes a player's play-style. Reduced visibility, some sort of enemy-enhancement, or outright hazards for the player to avoid.
