what was your first impression when you first heard of starbound?

Based off the couple screenshots Tiy posted on reddit of his 'new project' in one of the indie gaming/game dev reddits before announcing it officially: "Me wants."

 

Definitely got me excited, plus the game itself looks amazing visually, everything just seems really warm and bright.

 

Here let me show you

 

It looked like something I would enjoy a lot.

 

My first idea was to gather more information to judge wether I shall purchase it.
Hence my presence here.

 

A series of: What is this? followed by Sweeeet

 

First reaction: "WOOOAAAHHH 8) "
Second: Do want naaoo!!!

 

My reaction? Hmm...
"Yay a pixel-ish game! Let's hope it's at least as good as Terraria!"

 

I felt like I knew the game haha, I gues it reminded me of Terraria.

 

When Tiy posted the first few pictures on twitter I got excited, because it looked similar to the kind of gameplay style Terraria was, but with a much more polished and unique art style. It kinda looked like a really vibrant game world. Then when the proper announcements happened and I heard about how they were going for randomisation and customisation and a large expansive world I was instantly intrigued. I certainly hope they pull off all the stuff they're aiming for

 

Lol, I can't say what was the first thought of Starbound... When I first saw it was Tiy's first screens on Twitter, where I didn't even know, what is the game about, what's it's name, and so on.
I saw the pictures and I was like: "Hmm... new Terraria, let's keep an eye on it. "
Now after the IRC chat with tons of information I'm like: "This will be the best game on earth, I'll play this my life long and buy this, no matter what the cost, no other life will exist than in this game! "
(I probably overreacted a bit... )

 

Man, that is soooo easy

 

At first it was "Why would they need a Terraria 2? You can still update the original..." Then I saw the art style was fixed to not be stolen FFV sprites and a complete mess of different art styles, so then I actually started to read into what this game was.

Needless to say I'm excited for all it's additions.

 

Terraria never used the FFV sprites post release....

 

I know they modified them quite a bit but I could never shake that feeling that all the pixel art was made off of recolors and traces. Especially since most of it never looked like it all belonged to the same game. It's just what I'm most excited for with this new game.

 

"Wow, looks awesome! So much potential!"

 

This, but Minecraft got old quickly for me and Terraria suffered from a relatively short run. I am hoping this has a healthy time for itself, and considering I read somewhere that none of this is hardcoded, I might have a plethora of mods to work with.

 

Lord i hope this goes for longer than terraria. thats about 500+ hours then for me.

 

I saw many people saying it was going to be better than terraria, and I liked terraria a lot so I felt like defending terraria. but then I learned more about it and now I also think it will be way better than terraria and I also really want it.
