A basic blacksmith is nice; making decorations, refining metals, and tools/weapons and such. It'd be pretty awesome to do that yourself too, but they could be better at it! I also like the idea of a scientist/naturalist; they could have come from far away and decided to leave everything behind and study the valley. They can help with things outside your farm (and in caves and such, tips and identification etc.) and maybe find/sell more advanced or secret crop types, like mushrooms and such if that sort of thing wasn't implemented. Some sort of really expensive crops!
i would like to see something like a bard playing some music for you and what do you think about something like a soup kitchen. you can either spend the cook some corps and get a little bit money and reputation at the village or you can even work a day or two in the kitchen. for sure this means the town needs to be big and there need to be some poor villagers
How about a doctor someone that can cure your family and help you at the delivery of your baby. Also a vet if your animals get sick (and if the stores don't sell animal medicine)
That must be a very well bread bred fish to do all that. I'd even go so far as to call it a Renaissance Fish.
Drarian, your English is just fine and I love your idea of hiring workers. There could actually be a character living in the town when you start the game who is basically a homeless hobo. Maybe the townspeople don't like him and are mean to him. If you hire him to work on your farm, he does an ok job to begin with, but gets better at it as time goes by. Eventually, you can make friends with him and he will save up enough money to buy a house. You are doing a good deed by giving this guy a job and a place to live, which would also improve relations with the other townspeople. Hollow, all of your ideas are great! The teacher idea could also be expanded to a professor who could teach your character new things. If you pay a fee, you could take a class on animal breeding, which would improve your chances of getting good cross breeds with your animals. Could also have classes on cross breeding seeds, tips and tricks for keeping your animals happy, best ways to explore the mines, strengths and weaknesses of hostile creatures in the mines, how to make friends or woo a man/woman. All of the classes could add small bonuses in their own ways, but you would have to take several classes in a series to get the most benefit.
Alchemist. You grow medicinal plants and he procures potions for various things. Healing being one of them. Perhaps some swift potions that make you run faster, or some plant potions that help your plants grow big and juicy. (Miracle grow potion anyone?)
I'd like a topographer, someone who could give you custom maps based on what you're looking for. And occasionally when you've done enough for him (A.K.A. given him enough business/dosh) He'll be able to make maps that can take you to unique dungeons with items that would help your farm out the most.
