What the....fu....

Ok so. Upon random exploration across the cosmos I stumble upon this lil' gem here:

I start traveling right from beam down point, find chest here and there.

Go far enough and you start seeing melons on the ground, and a well hidden rainbow chest on the ground. What is inside this pandoras box is nothing short that complete and utter destruction, upon your game.

I opened the rainbowbox and when i attempted to highlight over the item inside it crashed my game. I have done so now 4 times to verify its authenticity and it happens everytime.

 

There's 5 desert places to go. Which planet?

 

I'm happy to look, which planet number/letter?

It looks like some kind of raygun

OP: you tried destroying the box?

 

I didnt try destroying the box for fear it might glitch my char

Does anyone have a picture of the item in the chest?

 

It's the icechucker and mousing over it will crash your game.

 

The chest decided to divide by zero

 

On a good note planet 1(orbit) has a good amt of gold and sand chests with blueprints.

 

So, was this chest before or after the robot ninja camp?

 

Died, went left, Apex lab/maze with a tech chest. I'm likin your bug so far. By the by, did you dl tonights patch?

 

I axed the chest and the item went into my inventory. The item pickup description was "bubblegun". When I viewed it in my inventory, my game crashed. When I reloaded the game, it was still in my inventory, and still crashed when I moused over it. Good thing I backed up my save right before landing on that planet!

The error written to the log was:

 

hot dayum.

chests are lethal now.

 

Chill down guys. This bug has already been reported. This item is nothing but a bubble gun. And if you get it stuck in your inventory - you're doomed.

 

I fixed the bug by correcting the error in the bubblegun file. This file needs to be fixed before the gun is picked up, because if it's in your inventory the stats don't get reloaded from the item file.

The file to fix is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Starbound\assets\items\guns\bubblegun\bubblegun.gun

You need to change the "projectile" section to look like this:

  }

Back up the file before modding it. If you mess it up, your game won't start until it's fixed.
You may also want to add

underneath the twoHanded line

The first part should be

if you want the bubblegun to behave how it's intended to (I had it in the previous version, where it wasn't bugged).

And adding

Code:

  "level" : 1,

is unnecessary.
