  1. Kajima

    Kajima Phantasmal Quasar

Air Dash (I'd go with Sprint, but Double Jump gets disabled while dash jumping...)
    Spike Ball
    Multi-jump

Though Rocket Jump + Mobility Augment (Speed and Jump increase) is a fun combo as well.

There actually IS a mod like that called Ultra-Tech or something, I have it. It adds four new techs,like.. I think.. Ultra-Dash and Ultra-Jump? They're upgraded versions that cost 12 tech cards to activate when you give the apex scientist the required materials.

After the glitch artifact you unlock two more techs, Omni-Jump and Omni-Dash that are essentially infinite variants of the said techs.

EDIT: for some reason my refresh did NOT show the comment above me. Huh.

oh well.. yeah, try that mod ^

Please don't post the entire text in a single color - it makes it difficult for other users to read, especially as multiple themes exist.
Please only use colors in a limited fashion to highlight important areas.

Does everyone essentially use the same build? CF that might be an issue.

What build? this game doesn't have a talent/skill system. And using anything other than the basics is pointless. The only real choice I see is airdash OR sprint. Everything else has a "best" tech.

And all currently available techs are what's left over after CF lost their sanity and started deleting chunks of content from the game (most techs included).

Sprint- I explore a lot and need it to move quickly across the planets
Double Jump- Though the multi jump gives me more jump height it is about the same unless you time it perfectly.
Spike Sphere- I use it mining by climbing down walls instead of falling, and make my mine with one solid wall the whole way down so I can climb up easier.

I use Sprint, Multi Jump, and Spike Sphere as well. They are objectively the best on average. Sure others can be good in fringe situations, but nothing compares to this holy trifecta.

On a side note, it's funny they didn't include racial bonuses because they didn't want people favoring one race over another, but the tech system they decided to go with definitely has a majority leaning to those 3 techs over the rest.

Air dash, multi-jump and spike ball.
The sprint tech is amazing, but I rely too much on using the multi-jump tech to avoid fall damage. And because sprinting disables jump tech, I've gotten killed from fall damage. It's not worth the risk. I'd switch back to sprint in a heartbeat if you could cancel it with a double jump or equip an item to disable fall damage.

Yeah I posted that before I got the hang of what colors best work with both the good black theme AND the hideous white theme. Shouldn't have any further problems.

Well if you stop moving forward briefly during a sprint jump then you regain your jump techs. I do it all the time when I notice there is suddenly no more ground beneath me.

Also I have started a strawpoll on the subreddit and so far I have 55 votes to see how many techs out of sprint, multi jump, and spike ball people use. 1/3 use all 3, 1/3 use 2, and 1/3 use 1. The other 1 percent don't use any of them. So from what I can tell these three are very powerful and widely used techs. Of course it would been better to set up the poll differently.

Also laughably, the argument I hear most against using multi jump is, "i would prefer to jump without having to mash the spacebar." Anyway, I digress.

Air dash - I like it because I can jump over long obstacles (like lava lakes). jump + Air dash + double jump + another Air Dash (because cooldown is so low). Dash is also nice way to dodge enemies (especially bosses). I would use Blink Dash more if it had slightly smaller cooldown

Multi Jump - because it allows you to jump higher and with air dash it gives really nice air time

Wall Jump - I use it on my other character and I really like it, it adds lots of extra mobility (mostly underground and in buildings - sure spike ball can climb walls too, but it is slower and requires energy)

Spike ball - because other balls suck... balls? anyway, the only tech family that is really disappointing.

I don't miss old techs, they were really powerful (in terms of utility they would give) and therefore really hard to balance. I would prefer if we had more reason to invest those tech cards (for example some small upgrades to all 3 techs would be welcome, like 4th jump to multi jump or faster running speed, or increased range on air dash).

And I think balls need some rebalance. Sonic sphere could allow you to launch in direction pointed by mouse pointer, aqua sphere could be renamed to bubble sphere and could behave bit like old bounce tech (nullifying fall damage and bouncing around), while retaining ability to float on water.

Air Dash - great for fighting with guns by avoiding charging enemy
Multi Jump - great in combo with Air Dash, letting you float more in the air
Spike Ball - can get make traversing rough terrain much easier

  14. Garatgh Deloi

    Garatgh Deloi Master Astronaut

Wall jump, its basicly pulse jump + extra wall jumping functionality and sliding down walls (Great for spellunking if you practice a bit).
Spike ball (For getting to hard to reach locations) or the normal ball (The normal one is usefull for dodgeing a number of boss attacks).
Sprint becuse its great when exploring surfaces.

    Spike ball.
    Sprint.
    Multi jump.

Same as almost everyone else I guess.

Multi Jump - I don't die 5x a day from fall dmg any longer :) in fact, ever.

I'm one of the very few people who uses Blink Dash, but I rarely use the basic dashes anyway. If I feel like I need something a little more readily available, I'd definitely be on that Air Dash train though. Sprint is nice, but Vehicle/Flip Slash gets the job done for surface purposes.

Spike Ball. Though Speed Ball is probably decent for bossing in place of a normal sprint/dash if you got good with it. Waterball has it's niche use, that you use for that niche.

Multijump. Rocket is solid for asteroids if you're doing some niche super mining, and Wall jump is more or less a straight upgrade from default double jump.

But in general it's Multi, Blink, Spike.
