I'm going to be a sneaky stealth guy. Hopefully, it's been awhile sense we heard about the stealth mechanics, so I don't know how well they evolved.

    Depends on the situation.
A rebel against a corrupt empire, smuggling goods and stealing from warehouses to feed the rebels.
A diplomat between two fighting nations.
A builder helping a planet hit by some natural/unnatural disaster.
It all depends really. What I would normally learn towards would be helping people on foreign planets.

You hop on your favorite starbound server and check your mineral banks at your starbase. "Hmmm, running low on unobtanium" you comment to yourself. "Better head to planet Pico to pick some more up from my mining base there.".

A quick gear up for the short mining trip later and you are on your way. You arrive in your shuttle over the planet ready to beam down, but for some reason the landing pad you built isn't acknowledging you. "Must of messed up the wiring, Gotta fix that." How annoying, the short mining trip has just turned into a repair trip searching for a mixed up wire. You teleport down to where the landing pad should be. But isn't.

You land in the middle of a blasted crater, sliced from the ground as if a giant ice cream scope has come swooping in and tore it out. The twisted metal wreckage of what was once a solid landing pad lies tossed about the crater as if at the hands of a enormous child, bored with his toys and intent on destroying them for his last game. You climb to the edge of the crate, shocked at the devastation, only to see a terrible vista. The mining base that you were once proud of lies broken and shattered before you, the guard drones fried and burnt, the monstrous pets left to defend this place lay ripped open on the ground, silent testaments to the horrible violence that has wracked this place.

You stagger across the ground to the doors to the main mining structure only to find them blasted from their hinges in what was a terrible flurry of violence and high grade explosives. Inside, the carnage continues as door after door was shredded apart under overwhelming firepower, what few internal defenses existed have been cracked open like the most delicate of egg shells and the insides splattered across the halls and rooms as though sucked into a blender and sprayed forth in a torrent of gore and obliterated machinery. It is difficult to count the dead as you can not distinguish where one ends and the next begins. The devastation is unrelenting even as you continue deeper into the facility, heading towards the all-important mineral bunkers that stored the precious resources drawn from deep within the planet.

Eventually, you arrive at the vault doors leading into the mineral bunkers, only to find the most terrible scene yet. The defenders have been slaughtered, tossed about as rag dolls or left where they fell, even the walls are cracked and burned from the fury of the offender who assaulted this place. The vault doors themselves are gone, reduced down to smeared puddles on the ground by unimaginable forces that you would more expect to find at the heart of a star, rather than deep within a mine. Inside the vault, nothing remains. Everything has been stripped clean of anything of value, even the dust on the floor has been swept clean, not even the shelves themselves remain.

You step out into the center of the vault in a stunned daze at the devastation wrought here, and amidst the smoky air and the deep silence of a tomb, you hear the tiniest of sounds echo off the bare walls, that sounds like the booming of trumpets amidst the queit of the fallen. A tiny, almost unnoticeable, click.

You look down and all of your shock crystallizes into that one moment as the greatest indignity yet is visited upon you and this fallen place.

    A Rigged Tripwire.

That's not raiding. Raiding is going across the border, burning a few houses, kill a few people, steal a few chickens, then you run back to your side. That... That's just utter and complete devastation.

    Admiral CherryTurnover Cosmic Narwhal

A character with a scout/sniper approach in battle, Using the landscape and carefully placed blocks to give me an advantage over monsters and enemies.
I also would like to collect an expansive variety of plants, soils, grasses, shrubs, mushrooms, melons, trees, etc. to create an appealing garden to tend to. Though I will have quite a few modern and futuristic themed rooms and houses, I would still like to merge them with nature to create a balanced aesthetic on the plot/compound. Definitely some pleasing Feng Shui elements to the mix.

Assuming that there will be nocturnal and glowing varieties of plants and mushrooms, I will establish a cave system to display these beauties.

So, all in all, I will be a plant hoarder on a mission! Ya can't stop me!

I personally don't care about an ending to Starbound (as long as there is stuff to do, as well as no cliffhangers in the story having no resolutions in the slightest; just the right amount of mystery and less mind boggling confusion to mentally handle.)
An ending can cripple the random appeal of the game and give it a 'slight' linear path.
But of course for those that are very particular with things on a technical level and especially the competitive players, establishing some sort of ending (like in minecraft) is needed to suffice their need to "complete" the game and move on.

I can't really tell you what kind of player I'm going to be without actually playing the game first. Like, when I played Borderlands, I was planning on becoming a sniper. However, it turned out that I was much better with burst fire assault rifles. In Modern Warfare, I wanted to try and become an assault guy. It turns out that I prefer knifing people instead of shooting them. In my martial art, I really want to become someone who can take down multiple attackers head on( like my brother.) But, I always wind up running around, or away, from my opponent.
Honestly, I'm just going to adapt to the situation at hand. It doesn't matter how I play just so long as I survive, eat many keksy, and have fun doing it. But I think that I might enjoy being a pilot.
