well. quite a primitive one on the outside that is.
Already got alot of influences: Sarmatians, the Hallstadt culture, Inland celts and early german tribes.

A nomadic culture focused around migrating between various fixed settlements ruled by warlords, dividet by clan chiefs.
However while the general population will be essentialy barbarians in loincloths. The cities have access to the vast technology that has been amassed.

Whenever the tribes pass by a city, their young men are mustered. You can probably tell where this is going: Space Vikings.
To pay tribute to the clan, the young men (or plant things... or robots) organize themselves into battlegroups that compete with each other for loot and plunder and bring great riches to cities, and the most successfull one of them is elected the new chief of the clan.

Of course the culture would be quite a bit more advanced. With a strong head fixation. in fact. devouring the head of an opponent is seen as giving you his strenght.
However due to the obvious physical limitation on swallowing ones head whole, only the bravest dare such a challenge in exchange for power.

    yeah. that kinda stuff!

I'll be an explorer, searching the universe for NPCs to populate a city. Also, looking for monsters and trees and stuff. It's SCIENCE!

Unless, of course, I find inspiration somewhere to actually build something. In that case, I don't have a clue.

Im going to build a hidden base, and eventually colony beneath the surface of a desolate airless moon. A hidden Floran Refuge.

I'll probably develop the Galaxy Police. Since...

    A) I love mecha.
 I'm not much of a military regime leader. and I'm not interested in making a Federation.
    C) would probably only attack races or individuals that Violate the natural rights of sentient lifeforms.

    Or...

I Could just start the human imperium and suffer not the xeno to live... and commence the exterminatus. *FOR THE EMPRAH!*

but most likey I'll just play the hero of justice with a badass mech... taking the fight to the evil races/death worlds. Because if i find a world that is just hostile to everything with scary xenomorphic monsters... i will make it my personal mission to land on that planet, and proceed to open up a 100 ton mech sized bomb of whoopass on all those bastards, and even go as far to make a secure base for my long term campaign against my enemy. Until the planet is once more safe for people to live there.

I'll probably have a rather friendly, yet militarized, civilization. Trade is a must and R&D for weapons, armor, etc tech is also a high priority. But I don't think I'll be starting any wars unless another race really pisses me off.

  10. To expand on my OP idea of a Roman-inspired civilisation:

I'll build a recognisable landmark on every settlement I own. Something like a statue or banner, perhaps a combination of both, at the heart of the location. (I used to do this in Minecraft as well, to mark relevant spots I've claimed to myself. The prop I used in Minecraft, however, was a scarecrow built with wool blocks, sticks, torches and a Jack O'Lantern for a head. :p)

Villages/Settlements/Colonies that are friendly will receive my protection. I'll build walls on both sides of the settlement and, if possible, set a few guards to protect the people and keep order. Maybe even a tower or two.

Hostile villages, however, will very likely be razed to the ground. Might kill the hostiles or hold them captive, should there be any benefit in doing so. Afterwards, I'll either repopulate the place or simply eliminate all buildings from existence.

I'll try to keep records of relevant events that take place, such as conquests, discoveries and even defeats. I'll try to register everything from a neutral point of view, rather than butter up the empire.

In addition, I'll make sure that my people are satisfied and glad with how things are progressing. I'll make sure everyone is fed and has access to everything they need. I'll focus on making sure that my current empire is strong enough before expanding it, as that could lead to its downfall.

I'll allow people to believe/worship whatever they please, as long as that doesn't interfere with other people's well being - and as long as they recognise me as their sovereign/protector.

In terms of construction (both buildings and mechs/vehicles), I'll try to keep an on-going pattern and style, in both building and colouring. I'll need to take a look at all the blocks and colours first, though I'll very likely go with grey and either red, yellow, green or blue. I'll quite possibly produce several Roman-inspired buildings, some due to their in-game usefulness, such as aqueducts, and others due to their level of interest and amusement, such as arenas. If possible, I'll have NPCs, Mobs and even myself be part of the arena fights.

I'll need to know more about Starbound before casting more decisions, however. I have questions such as: Are you able to recruit soldiers? Can you distribute tasks across your people? Among others.

    Flickdraw Title Not Found

I'm going to make a deep ocean utopia where the artist will not fear the censor; where the scientist will not be bound by petty morality and where the great will not be constrained by the small!

I think I'll try and give it a sort of 1950's style with lots of art deco designs, and I'll probably end up not maintaining it, so it will leak like a colander, and everyone will probably go totally crazy and start killing each other...

    Should be a right hoot!

Interesting. New one, nicely done keeper.

I will start by starting a faction of roaming NPCs, caring more about my space-ship than a home world, and exploring the awesome universe. I will try to be big in the NPC business, if I can. While I am on these travels, I will search for an ideal home. I will want my home in a really cool solar system.
Things I am looking for in my system:
1 very low level planet (level 1 if possible) for testing purposes. I want this world to be infinite, if it can be so.
1 30-50 planet, for homeworldness. I want this planet to be very large, but finite.
Several asteroids and really small planets, for projects, like an asteroid based liquid processing facility :p
Moons. Lots and lots of moons.
Some gas giants, 'cause they're awesome.
A level 90-100 infinite planet, for a good dose of challenge.

After this, this will remain my home for the rest of that play through (probably), but I will set my sights on expanding my empire, exploring more stuff, and maybe playing with more people :).
I will be more of a peaceful merchant, who wants to sell everyone my goods which I produce, but I will probably attempt a war some time down the line, with a powerful force. I would love myself some FTL style battle >.<

  14. To be honest, I'm just going to build a large housing for my NPC's [at least for those who can't live on the space station] and leave it at that. Just like Terraria, I suppose.

Unless other mechanics are involved, of course. Then I'd probably kick it up a notch.
