What Racially unique weapons would you have in starbound?

This my list of unique racial weapons

Hylolt- Kusarigama(chain and sickle) and Nunchaku
Apex- laser beam gun and super sonic gun
Floran- blowgun and shock prod
Avian- one handed spear
Glitch- crossbow and heavy flail
Human- sawoff shotgun and gun sword
And we all know Novakids have their own set of racially unique guns.

 

Yea one of the early wallpapers they released with an Avian using spear/shield was fantastic and I was really looking forward to that style of play lol.

Glitch might do better with a Longsword - the iconic weapon of medieval times.
Floran's are reverse engineers and cannibals so maybe some axes or tridents (lol large salad fork?)


Hylotl I'd offer up a staff martial art or something. It's fairly easy to learn but hard to master, could be a lot faster than the spear with some cool alternate effects.

 

Apex: Futuristic rifles with bayonets. Designs based on WW1 weapons.
Avian: Spears and shields with crystals present.
Floran: Weapons made out of bone and sinew, with a bit of tech included.
Glitch: Morningstars, flails, and Matchlock guns.
Human: Dystopian cyberpunk guns. Sleek, box-like, and uniform in design.
Hylotl: Bo-hiya (an infantry-carried mortar with arrows), Kana-bo (giant spiked maxe), and Yumi (really large bow)
Novakid; Makeshift guns that look like junk, but are incredibly deadly.

 

Aren't Florans going to have those "shock prod" things? I think they're referred to as "tesla spears" in the game files.

Anywho, if I had to list anything specifically, I think these are the race/weapon combinations I'd like to see:

Apex: Pulse grenades (Stuns mechanicals, slows others) and combat knives (Guaranteed critical hits against enemies not alerted to your presence)
Floran: Blowguns (Awesome idea, Roman) and shock prods.
Glitch: Crossbows and flanged maces (Already in-game, just disabled).
Human: Semi-automatic rifles.
Hylotl: Asymmetrical bows (Called Yumi, as Campaigner mentioned) and naginata (A spear, only a slashing weapon).

I don't really have other ideas yet, but I'll think about it.

 

I like your design ideas for the Apex and Floran.

 

More as an overall Technological direction
Human : Magnetic Acceleration
Apex : Energy Weaponry
Avian : Heat/Light based
Novakid : Steampunk
Floran : Semi-Natural weaponry (kind of like the needler that's already in game)
Glitch : Crossbows, Personal Catapults etc. Basically anything medieval in design
Hylotl : Pressurised Water and Ice

 

Apex, they are scientist so energy based weapon like laser and melee like beam saber is cool.
Avian, they are priest dealing with mystic, so a wand or magical staff is suitable I think.
Floran, savage, tribal people who use primitive things, spear and broadshield will be nice, and javelins retrievable javelins.
Hylotl, peaceful people, live in the sea, and has asian culture like japanese or china. A quarterstaff and some katanas or ninjatos.
Glitch, medieval people, claymore and lance with dashing attack will be nice.
Human, old school maverick or AK-47 is fine with me.
Novakids, interstellar gas-bag people, so its plasma bomb.

 

Apex would definitely need a laser rifle, and perhaps some melee weapons with some brutal modifications (For example laser swords that can also set you on fire)
Avians would probably need some kind of sacrificial sword with a gem in the hilt
Floran would probably have some kind of sword, hammer, or other weapon constructed from the battered remains of an apex or human designed weapon, freshened up from some bones, and held together with thorny vines.
Hylotl could have a sword made out of sharpened coral in the design of a samurai sword.
Glitches should have a sword in the design of their creator's weaponry, with a medieval twist. For example, a mace with a laser coating.
Humans could have some semi-futuristic guns that are kind of blocky
Nova kids could have oddly glowing old western guns that fired energy shots.

 

a combo system with the staff would be awesome, kinda along the lines of the fist weapons, but you may have to alternate right-left clicks (for sides of the staff), with a powerful forward strike that knocks enemies back on the 4th or 5th hit. and you could also block by right-left clicking at the same time??
