So, title kinda says it all here, what does the Dev team want/need to be done before they are comfortable sending out a preorder beta? I just want to know when to start getting super pumped and remind all my friends to make sure to preorder. Not to mention there are so many good games in development right now on the internet, but nothing fresh and fun to play. I need a timesink guys. Also this is my first post on these forums so please correct me if I'm asking a "taboo" question, or is in the wrong forum.
Well, I don't think the Devs would answer that question due to spoiling. And even if they would give you a list of tasks to be done, it doesn't really give an accurate estimate or anything because things require diffirent amounts of time
We don't need spoilers. Just what needs to be done in roadmap% units. I would love to know that, its not really constraining on the devs, and it would stop these: "OMG, IT LOOKS LIEK BETA TOO ME, PLES RELEASE"
If you want to know what they're working on, look at the roadmap. Not sure if it's been updated recently, but it still provides insight as to what needs to be finished.
Not everything as to be 100%, as Tiy stated, but he indeed wants the game to be pretty complete. It can't be 100% roadmap because they already said that Story Mode/Questing system isn't in the beta. :alien: Sadly no roadmap update, but an update now would give us a pretty good idea of their progress in the game since it launched.
I-I usually don't comment on anything involving beta, because I don't like upsetting anyone, But I agree with this. They are finishing up very trivial things, where as they could simply release a beta to keep people busy. MY theory is that the Beta will have the player's races homeplanet still intact, and once full game is released, the homeplanet will be destroyed to start the Story; which is why that have not released it yet, because they want to have everything that is needed to make such a situation to happen to be completed and ready for play before they release.
Was not updated since it went online (over 8 weeks ago? Not sure about it when excatly it went online.). If you compare the numbers of the sticky roadmap topic with the roadmap, no change at all. A "last update" would be nice at the roadmap to keep track. But it seems like that suggestion doesn´t reach the dev´s. Not at the moment, anyway.
They need to (mostly) complete: Dungeons. NPC AI. Mechs. UI (menu, crafting, cooking, 3d printer, tech window). Intros. and all major bugs removed - debugging a game takes a very LONG time - it need to be playerable (ie: not crash every 30 minuit). Also, some features which would be spoilers are not on the roadmap (eg: ores, bosses, story). But as some of the devs are now getting round to adding not so significant thing it might be getting pretty close to release. Sometimes I think I will have to wait ages for the beta, other times I feel like they will release it really soon (ish) - I don't really know (but I do know it will be this year, so maybe it won't be too far off). Edit: See this thread: http://community.playstarbound.com/...nd-preview-at-insomnia-gaming-festival.23159/
Hmm, I suspected as much. They've said that it would take less time to do a few big updates to the roadmap than lots of smaller ones. They'll probably get around tit eventually. Edit: They have just updated the roadmap, apparently.
Strange. It's been mentioned a couple of times now. Maybe they've announced that they'll be doing it soon, or something.
