What makes starbound amazing

I love all games. Pc oe console, fps or rpg. I don't look for graphics. I look for quality. And starbound is such an amazing game.

2 things that people really have forgot about are story and soundtrack. Halo is one of my favourite games of all time, because it's so emotional and story rich, and the soundtrack is breathtaking and can easily make you cry. Nowadays everyone just wants a good multiplayer. No one likes story anymore.

But starbound... the soundtrack!! Its beautiful. It really is. The soft piano and peaceful tunes make you feel really inspired, and it made me look at my life in the past and cherish all the happy memories. I know I sound stupid but it's true.

So what about story? I really am looking for a new game with a rich story. Fire emblem is apparently good, but I thought what about starbound? Giving this game a story would be so epic and make it much more fun. What do you guys think? I just really want a game like mc or terraria or starbound with an actual story, and actual characters with family and problems. Oh I miss the days of final fantasy and amazing storylines... every time I walk into eb games I get sad that all the games I grew up with are at the back of the shelf gathering dust. Kids just wanna shoot people now... we have forgotten what a truly good game is about :'(

So what do guys think? Would a story be cool or not? Also send me a pm (if you can on here) if you just wanna chat :)

I don't know, this is a sandbox game. Putting a story on it would have pros and cons. It would be interesting, but I really don't think it would fit in a sandbox game.
PS: Fire emblem is pretty good.

I love all these little details, like the music stuff you can find and play with, or the nice decorations for your houses. While a story would be a nice bonus, for this being a sandbox game I woudn't really need one. The short version, how my hero got in his spaceship and started his adventures will do for me.

All the little details and the effort that the developers have put into the game are extremely noticeable. It just makes the game such a pleasure to play and really makes it an enjoyable experience. There's so much to do and to see that really all the positives heavily outbalance the negatives! One could almost say the possibilities are endless; anyhow, I feel that Starbound is a much better version of Terraria and I will not be going back. Heh...

All I'm seeing here is that you're not actually old enough for them to no longer sell the games you grew up with yet.

Hate to tell you this, but a storyline has been planned since the very beginning. It just hasn't been implemented yet. But from what I understand, it's not going to drag you through the game by the nose, so it could just end up being more of a there-if-you-want-to-do-it thing.

Stories don't have to be linear. Just make it optional and we can enjoy it or ignore it if we want to and everybody's happy! Happiness is mandatory, after all.

What Jonesy said is very accurate. There has been a planned storyline at the beginning of development, though they have not implemented it yet due to the stage of development. (Gameplay, stability, optimization) they need to have both feet on the ground before they implement things like quests, a campaign, or even characters (if there are any.)
I remember either hearing Mollygos or Omni saying that a story will exist but it will have the same aspect as lore does. It is there if you want it. Some people go through Starbound making buildings, killing stuff, and making it to tier 10 without reading one book or journal. The game hasn't even scratched the surface in the progression aspect yet.

I have to agree that the soundtrack for SB is breathtaking. It's probably my favourite soundtrack of any game to date. :chucklefish:

It's a fun game, I am not going to be hyperbolic. I like the movement of the characters compared to similar games.

    A few things:
    1: The soundtrack. Nuff said.
2: The game is like an adventure, so that makes it pretty awesome in my eyes. ^.^
    3:.......Aliens?
