what made YOU buy Starbound?

I am about to buy Starbound because i love side scrolling survival building games.

and i love Multiplayer games too!


What made you buy it?

 

What didn't make me buy it is a better question.

Anyway I bought it because it seems to be an amazing game, of course.

 

Seemed like a cool game. I loved Terraria and Minecraft, but got bored of them quick. Starbound looks like the next evolution in block based sandbox games. It puts a story into a randomly generated sandbox world, which I don't know has been done before.

The combat also seems good, if a bit basic. Hopefully tech and borderlands-esque weapons will make it interesting.

It has a much better building system than Terraria, allowing you to use any block as a backround block as well as in a 2x2 pattern instead of just one at a time.

Other than that it just seems like a generally cool game. Although I've yet to play it so who knows.

 

I love retro games, especially platformers.

I love good metroidvania games.

I like if not love sandbox gameplay.

I think Terraria is awesome, and used to wish there was a game like it that took place in space even before Starbound was a thing.

All those details they dropped about the huge things they were planning to do with the game, and the music previews on Curtis Sweitzer's soundcloud definitely helped.

Basically, Starbound is just a lot of things I tend to have an interest in.

 

I didn't buy it yet, I won't until I know for a fact of the day I will be able to play the beta. And at this point not even if they just say the date but release it.

 

Love side scrolling and crafting.

 

What made me buy it was the fact that I thought I would be playing it half a year ago.

 

I found starbound while I was playing terraria. Starbound tapped into my favorite part of gaming that terraria and minecraft lacked a lot of at the time. Exploration. When pre-orders opened I was eager to buy myself and some friends copies. I'm normally financially unstable, and preorders helped me secure a copy when I did have money. Seeing my state right now, I would not have had money to do this if I had waited.

What made me buy Starbound...one word...Starbound. Yes, Starbound made me buy Starbound.

 

It was really amazing looking and I was craved for more games in the style of Terraria. It just got even better looking, so I'm glad.

 

I like the immersion of the game and I love sandbox games with loads of possibilites and (almost) no ending

 

I was really hyped for the game and wanted in on the beta.
Reason I bought gold tier was so I could put my own name in the game.

 

I saw a tweet 2 or so years ago saying that tiy had left working on terraria to work on his own game - From then on i have kept uptodate on the progress, spent nights watching bartwe and OE coding the game, even watched the sound guy do a few scores of music.

I love the game development process and I was really impressed with the direction and ethics of the game that I had seen so far so i preordered the day that it became available.

 

I must post Terraria, i would never get to known this game without its community that discussed starbound around when it was announced. So only watch the geral description of Starbound comparing to what i did like about Terraria is pretty enough.

 

Overall it would be the whole game, but also the details in atmosphere (weather effects, environmental effects, either them being motion or sound based). Its going to be a beautiful, immersive game, even if its not 3d.
