What kind of house do you want?

Crystal! Holy cadoodles! You know how expensive that stuff is?
Naw, I'd rather live in something with a common material. That way, my building materials are the very ground I'm building on.
The other thing is while it would seem like something so common... it really isn't. Everyone wants to use nice materials to stick out, but in the end, everyone uses nice materials. I on the other hand, have a house that sticks out. Like a spec of dirt on a white table.

 

Ya should try talking to some Glunaught Merchants... Ya should be able to get a good deal on Crystal Building Materials from them. Ya don't have to eyeball the rarer Crystals, ya can get sweet prices on common types, like Snow White Crystals if ya are good enough at Space Google to find the right Merchants.

 

Since the Apex has been introduced, I've been thinking of a Borg style campaign, in which I go around the galaxy, assimilating worlds, and hunting for as much technology as I can find.
The main house on each world will be a huge Borg cube, made out of pipes, and metal, whatever green and black and gray blocks I can find. Assuming that the blue electrical plate is the Apex version of lava lamps, then I hope they come in green. That way I can make regeneration alcoves! Green lighting, green liquids flowing through pipes, research and storage rooms, assimilation rooms, and hallways full of regenration alcoves in a huge square base. Those Apex tanks will look pretty nice too! All of these rooms will be decentralized, much like a typical Borg ship.
Smaller satelite bases on worlds will be Borg spheres, smaller, with the essentials of a base. Each cube will also have a docked Borg sphere.

My homeworld will probably be some nice advanced race planet, which I will assimilate and completely convert into a Borg homeworld. Think Unimatrix 01. If I'll let any trees on it, they will be those mechanical looking trees from one of the forest biome screenshots. Perhaps I'll terraform the sky to be green or gray. There will be a main city with huge towers, fields of docked Borg cubes, empty square slots for possibly returning cubes, and possibly an under construction cube, with just the square framework and floors laid out. Underground, it will be a maze of intersecting pipes, corridors, and a various hodgepodge of technology and research rooms.

 

If 'blue electrical plate' thingies don't come in Green in Vanilla, I bet making a Mod Version would be just an easy Sprite Recoloring & Re-Naming.

Hmm, probably going to over do this but:

• Entrance with tall guard towers (probably for sniping) either side and a switch to lock down the entrance.
• huge maze to get to the main house so intruders become lost
• huge labs for research
• huge rooms of labeled storage for ordinary items
• huge armouries of powerful weapons and armor and gadgets
• docks for, land, air and sea vehicles
• super secret and impenetrable bunkers hidden throughout my base with ammo, supplies and huge weapons and loads of gadgets(in case of emergency where may base is somehow raided I can still fight back)
• cattery(I love cats)
• wired traps that you need to know them to avoid them so intrudes die if they get past the maze and entrance
• luxury bedroom and lounge/party room (for general awesomes)
• many secure escape tunnels that are hidden from both the base and outside world
• loads of wiring to make my life easier.
• pet area for keeping my animals
• cats will roam the base in areas where there are no traps, and a way to cage them if the base is intruded to protect them

or alternatively i will be to lazy and build a basic shack. probably/hopefully the earlier.(will at least eventually)
all outposts will have guard towers
