What is your biggest fear about Starbound? (Speculations)

I think by "procedural generation algorithms," you mean to say "magic."

 

I think my main fear from the start was the lag factor. But after watching the devs play with each other with flawless connection, I worry no more.

 

I'm not afraid of the community degradation - I'm gonna play solo and with my close friends only. My real fears are that Starbound will not be released this year and that It'll have the same fate as Terraria. Darn, that'd be sad, let's hope for the best.

 

My biggest fear would be the amount of content regarding building options. If you can build a vast array of stuff (that can do something) and can combine it with you own logic system then i'd be happy.

If i want to do an automatic defense system with traps, automatic doors and processing plants,conveyor belts, shields, transporters,elevator,factory system,.... it would make me happy. I really want to have the options to come up with any device/system and to really make it happen in the game.

Would be just epic to be able to create a town inside of a gigantic fortress with sentry guns,militia,soldiers and whatever to be able to defend against invaisions.

 

my biggest fear is the evil moon 0_0

 

Tiy being attacked by a group of space pirates and never being able to complete the game.

 

My biggest fear would be that the devs really concentrate too much on all the details and forget to add new systems that make the game better and more fun to explore, if you know what I mean.

I seem to have the same fear as many others; not living up to its expectation.
I'm not one of those who would kill just to get the game, and I'm not excited to know that it'll be out soon.
It's all for the reason of the expectations - If I get excited for it, I expect more of it, and in the end I will get dissapointed because I didn't get what I expected.
I've also tried to keep myself from looking at anything that shows the game - like the lightning video - this too, is to keep me from expecting too much.

 

That is actually one of the reasons I liked Terraria and Minecraft so much potentially. I didn't get excited over them at all because when I found out about them they were already out, therefore I didn't have any expectations.

anyways, i could've sworn there was a topic on this before? maybe? whatever, anyways

my biggest fears below~

- the dev's decided to continue adding little tidbits here and there over polishing and fixing the main core elements of the game and starbound is delayed :c

- starbound is delayed til who knows when in 2013
(this game is literally all i have been waiting for in 2012, everything else is just "ok" or can't keep my mind off of S

- upon release, starbound doesn't get the credit and recognition it deserves-with multiple a-holes(people) claiming it's copying off of terraria and minecraft without knowing a thing about it and giving it a bad rep

that's about it i believe, i hope this game becomes huge and get's a ton of followers

 

That my computer won't be able to run it.

 

Much like the EA thing, but read a journal article that says:

"Chucklefish Studios and all rights to Starbound franchise is bought by <insert some random unknown studio>."

2 months later

"<insert that same studio that bought Chucklefish> faces financial problems and has to shut down all projects, our bad!"

Oh, right, that is some evil and benign parallel universe. In that respect, this universe isn't so bad!

I don't venture to that place because of the terrible things that I've heard. What's so bad about it anyways?

 

I don't want the game to have too much of a storyline that you have to follow, or anything you have to follow really.

 

I'd hope you would be able to aim melee weapons, that overhead swings in Terraria is what i can somewhat see in the live-stream. But spears, just seem static to aim at one spot. What if someone is above you? Got to get on the same level as them to even hit them.. When they can pop a gun on you before you can even hit them once.

 

my biggest fear is training a very powerful monster, go to fight with the final boss, and in the way a meteorite kill my monster, a horde of monster attack me, found the boss and have 1 hp and no ammo, then kill me, a power failure burn my computer, and with anger screaming "Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo" and then a fly go into my throat and make me sick.
