Mine would be the game becoming too repetitive.

Seeing as the games I recently played looked promising but got repetitive fast (BL2, TL2), I sincerely hope my fear would be abated. I did dedicate plenty of time for Terraria which always felt fresh until after I got hollowed equipment.

Hopefully quests, planet, mob, etc. variety would keep the experience fresh.

Another fear I have is the game being released next year. *goes to fetal position*

    How 'bout you guys?

Come on, I don't want to play with robloxians.

My biggest fear of Starbound is that I'll discover everything too fast, as is my curious nature to do.

Also, side note, first step of keeping a community great is being welcoming/friendly to new members. (Since I predict several posts thereafter will fear the same thing of the community.)

The problem is, there will be some people way too aggressive and will scream "HACKER" at everybody better than them and "NOOB" at anybody weaker than them.
Nah, they will say "NOOB" every time somebody beats their logic.

Um... The game goes in the wrong direction, like minecraft... It could happen, and of course, if it turns into something i wasn't expecting it to be. Maybe im overexpecting... i expect an awesome sidescroller sandbox with infinite worlds, each with different resources, and giant oil pumps and space cargo tankers and massive wars between companies and clans, and all sorts of awesome stuff. And lots of poptop torture.

My main fear is fairly similar to the community related ones above. Believe it or not, the communities for Minecraft and Terraria were very good early on, but when more populatiry came, so did the jerks and morons :(. My other fear is that the game will come out next year, after christmas break.

Same as sokina, i don't want to discover everything to fast.

i mean take Minecraft the first time you discover diamonds is pretty exciting or in Terraria when you finally find gold or mine all the way down to hell.

My only fear is that I'll get so addicted that I'll fail in all my classes. My parents will be so mad at me by this point that they'll kick me out of the house. With no money, food, shelter, or job, I'll be forced to mug people so that I can survive. Eventually, I'll get caught by a cop, tried in court and found guilty. Then, I'll be in prison for approximately three to five years. That is, unless I go insane without Starbound, which I totally will, and think that I'm in the game and I stab one of my inmates by mistake because I thought he was a poptop. Then, I'll be sentenced to death. But before I get the lethal injection, I'll be asked by my parents "Was it worth it son? Throwing away your life over a game?" And I will respond: "YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!" Then I'll die.

Good thing that will never happen, right? Right?

-Stupid people, in the community, on servers, on forums. You've seen people with terrible grammar who cannot understand basic rules? (Cough roblox cough terraria's youtube fanbois cough)
I'm also afraid Starbound will be everything I hoped it to be, and nothing more. I know this is never going to be the case, but I do worry that at one point I won't be able to think of new things any more.

I think one of the biggest fears I have is that the game may not live up to the expectations, causing the community to go to Oblivion.

About the game itself? not too much, the communities pre-fucked anyways so I don't really care there either.

I mean, at this point as long as they don't keep that godawful invincibility period after getting hit during PvP combat as shown in the stream, then the game would be pretty damn good I think.

    • The community becoming like the Xbox community
    • The game is rushed, and broken beyond repair
    • It being disappointing

    Change! I fear change.

But it is necessary for good, new things to happen.
Mining and building looks overpowered and intimidating to me so far, but I'll get into the groove eventually.

Next on the list would be:
    • Farming plants would not really be a bountiful and rewarding aspect to the game
I really hope that cultivating a large garden with plants of indefinite varieties alone could take a massive amount of dedication and time, even for those that focus solely on plants on every planet they land on. :)

    Plants! Plants! Plants!
    (I need help)

My biggest fear is that the game takes too large a bite and fails at what it tries.

Yes, we will have planets, fancy npc systems, etc, but what happens if they are badly balanced and just not that fun. Or (even worse) they are skin deep mechanics, where everything looks different but acts the same, or if everything is just a really simple system that has no real capabilities to be played with and built on by the community.

I frankly do not care what the community ends up like. If it ends as crap, I will just have to join a nice whitelist server where everyone has to act mature and decent. (if it is like minecraft)

I think most games have a vocal, annoying amount that makes them look bad, so I honestly am not worried about the community anymore.

If it comes out after Christmas break, if the community becomes realy bad, if there is no robot race at release, if they show any story, bosses, endgame planets or equipment or the space bar and if the game becomes to repressive and boring.

My biggest fear is it wont live up to my expectation and will just be terraria in space. I have faith in the devs but thats the only thing that could ever really kill my joy for this game.
