There's bound to be griefers almost everywhere you turn unless you get together a close group of friends. I've seen many amazingly-wonderful people and a ton of not-so-amazing griefers/spammers, unfortunately, many people find griefing fun and will do it regardless of what you think. More security would help as well, such as only the owner being able to modify their ship, controlling who can build on your planet, etc. This hasas a chance of being worked on once Starbound is fleshed out more, but, until then, there isn't much to do about it.

Off topic a bit: plenty of people here are saying to find friends to play with. Not always that simple; I have a few friends, don't generally like randomly making friends, and don't particularly care to go out and ask people to be my friend. end result; I have about... two people that have this game, both of which got board of waiting for an update and left. I myself have put a pause on playing for a bit because I was playing for far to long to begin with and need a break from trying to build all over the surface of my home planet. It shall be entirely metal INDUSTRY SHALL RULE! Plenty of people here are also acting very kind; why not form a group HERE and join later, or are we all in the same boat as me and just surf the forums now?

On topic: The internet, as said before, is full of trolls and people expressing themselves often violently with a mixture of profanity and dementia. It's even invading real life now, if the cons I managed to actually go to were anything to go on. It might take a while, but much like in game; enough mining thorugh all the constant cobblestone will eventually let you find that hidden, glorious ore you've been looking for. Sadly, no PvP far as I know so good luck with mining. :D

As for the roleplaying - the only time it's bad is if you decide you don't like it, then take part in it. It's a fun way to get immersed instead of "HEY LOOK I GOT SHINY STUFF IN MY SHIP GOD DAMN IT SOMEONE STOLE IT FML."

    ...

I made myself want to roleplay now. ._. That sound SO much more fun...

I'm afraid this is a good example of the GIFTheory.
Warning; above TV Tropes page contains a few strong words.

I have no issue with recreating my world.

My issue is more that I'm on pause and I have no idea if he uses mods, likes to use them, uses the ones I don't like, etc. It just becomes a hassle unless we decide to sit down, be civilized, and work out the details.

I would definitely suggest getting into a clan, getting to know some friends, and play with them instead. That way, you'll trust each other more, get trolled less (or none at all), and be able to set up dates where you can all play together.

For obvious reasons I will not advertise my clan.

But different clans will appeal to different person. But if you want to join a clan for the purpose of playing multiplayer, it might be nice to pop into a clan or two, and ask them if they have a server set up. Most don't, but some will have dedicated servers, or someone to host a server for you to play.
