    I thought they were the same thing at first, but they're two different values it seems

    DPS = Damage Per Second.

    If it's super slow but does a ton of damage, its dps could be the same as another weapon that has a lower damage but faster swing.

    So basically go by the dps when picking weapons. Something could have an awesome damage per swing but be slow as hell.

    DPS is telling you within one second how much dmg will be dealt vs how much damage is in one swing, if you have a fast enough weapon Two hits could be produced within that one second frame which would make the damage considerably higher then what the swing dmg would tell you.

    Damage Per Hit = ...Damage per hit
    Damage Per Second = Average damage per second based on your item's attacking speed & damage per hit

    Personally I think they should remove "DPS" listing from the weapon and just leave it as Speed and Damage per swing.

    DPS (Damage per Second) = Damage per Swing × Swing Speed.
    The result is rounded to the nearest integer.

    They should change Damage per Swing/Shot to just Damage to avoid confusion.
