What happened to this FTL Interface?

I feel like this interface is far far far more user friendly than the current one. Is this still being developed, or was it scrapped for some reason?

Note the features that are sorely missing from the actual game:

    * BOOKMARKS - The ability to bookmark more than one planet and go back to it.
    * TRAVEL LOG - The ability to see where you've been and retrace your steps to a planet that you were recently at.
    * INFORMATION - A quick at-a-glance scan of the planet reveals things of note, such as the temple and gold; along with essential aspects of the planet such as how cold it is.

Or better yet, the fuel meter with what looks like a button to open up and possibly fill from your seat.

I've lost track of so many planets I would have visited had there actually been fuel in my tank.

Besides the bookmarks and travel log, this interface is inferior.

It doesn't match the "Sleek and black" interface that Starbound currently has, clicking numbers on that keypad would be atrocious, and all that extra information on the planet would really take away from the surprise of exploring the planet for the first time and likely cause people to completely ignore planets with extreme prejudice.

I'm not really sure what happened to this... heard it was possibly a mock-up. I hope they'll add something like this in the future!

"Sleek and black" can be tweaked into this interface with a dozen clicks in photoshop or illustrator. Plus, I like the idea of knowing a bit more about the planet before I go down. If we're living in a future where everyone has a star ship, why wouldn't that star ship be capable of basic planetary analysis? Or at least able to tap into a knowledge base from others who have explored it in the "past." Some sort of interconnected network that they've devised in the distant future. Like a sort of a connecterwork or something...

That Wasn't part of the actual game. It's Concept art. Nothing more, Nothing Less.

Hopefully it's concept art that will be eventually integrated. I love the idea of having that much info at my disposal.

I just had a terrible idea.

I like it. Hopefully when they add gravity and make the worlds more unique they will update the UI.

That looks like a mockup, however I hope some of the features it has end up in the game eventually.

I actually like the instructions on how to operate this screen :p I had to ask my friend a stupid question before "how do I zoom out on the planet interface?"
As far as the aditional information goes, they are nice at least you'd know what to look for and if there is actually anything on the planet. I am not going around every single planet I visit and I might have missed alot of dungeons and other things like this. It's just my own fault I get it but I would not be complaining about this kind of info being showed before I land on the planet. It could possibly be an upgrade for the interface? You craft a scanner and use it to install to your system, I'd like that.

That's loads better than the current system that forces you onto a planet where there is often nothing of note whatsoever on it, thus completely wasting your time. Pick your poison: Do you at least want to know what you're getting yourself into, or do you want to potentially waste your time exploring an entire planet with nothing on it which happens OFTEN.

People are going to avoid planets to begin with such as Snow and Moon variants as they're too much hassle to be dealt with anyway. I don't know about you, but from hours of experience as well as having seen much of the feedback from beta so far from others it appears as if the average player spends HOURS trying to FIND resources. Having to go from planet to planet because they can't even find one with the amount of minerals they need. This information is a must.

It's likely some of this things will most likely be added as the beta goes on. For one I would like to see that travel log, along with all that info about the planet. I also don't think different gravity is implemented yet also though.

Agreed, I would love to see this as an actual ship upgrade to your sensors and/or navigation computer. Bookmarking, keeping your own in-game notes, and eventually having a rough idea of what's on the surface of a planet would be awesome.

Wow thats a really nice UI with lot of good information, would love to have all this information available on whatever Ui design they are planning to use for final release.

Would love to have this kind of information.
I know with this you dont have to beam down to the planet and see whats there, but you already spent the fuel to go, so its just saving you a bit of time.
Also would love to have different ore generation on different planets (for example, a planet with more copper than iron, or with silver but no gold, for now the ore generation is based only on the planet level i think).

its weird how the concept art is so much better than the actual thing

  19. Geomexis

If it'd work the way it does currently, you wouldn't need to spend any fuel to look at the planet, you simply look at your starmap and look at all the planets without leaving the one you're currently on.

Yeah, but they can make that you dont get that information until you are (or have been) on the planet.
