Oh man, Commander Keen! I loved that old game so much. I think I still have one of the old 3½'s laying around somewhere....

Love child of: Commander Keen / Spore / Terraria.

    - Commander Keen for the art style, even mentioned that in my "introduce myself" to which MrHighSeas name dropped you [sainosiris], lol.
    - Spore (space stage) for the exploring/conquering new worlds endlessly. (has anyone actually conquered the whole universe in that game?)
    - Terraria for the destructible environments, building, mining, crafting, etc.

Here is to hoping there is a Bean-with-Bacon Megarocket somewhere in Starbound!

P.S. Commander Keen was the first game I played... ever... I just pray nobody tries to remake it, some things should remain classics... *cough* Star wars *cough*

RIP - ID Software & LucasArts: you made some great games.

Are you my freaking clone or what? Only I didn't play Keen the first but I've seen it the first! I've seen my big br0 play it a lot!

Also, beating the galaxy in Spore takes too long, after a while you have so many planets that pirates attack them all the time, or there's infestation all the time, depending on your bonuses.

Also, there's freakin' cake in Commander Keen, and it's not a lie!

Reminds me a bit of Armada 2526. They have tons of different types of planets to inhabit. And space ships of course.

The Ps2 Ratchet and Clank games.
You went around different planets and envirnments with a bunch of cool gadgets and weapons.
    Was fun.

I've always wanted to try those games, but never got around to buy them. Are they fun?

Since others have already said Spore, I won't belabor that one. :)

However, I remembered in the back of my mind a comparison that Tiy himself pointed out to indiegamingmag HERE, that the game is going to have a Pokemon-style element allowing us to capture and tame any creature we meet. So I will throw that one out here: Starbound reminds me of Pokemon. :-D

That's right! never thought of that! It's so true! I can't wait to have all my little minions!

That's why I always feel like someone's watching me! And it also explains all those cats recently. Oh u!

Ratchet And Clank are a ton of fun (not sure about most recent one) but they have limited play value. Once you beat them there isn't much to go back to, however getting there is well worth it! The insane guns you can use keep you amused and trying to collect everything will extend the game play. I have gone back a few months later and replayed them and had just as much fun as the first play through. Definitely worth the investment in the long run.

Thumbs up for the Pokemon reference.

OT: I'll throw out Borderlands for the random gun generation and Questing and because I can't wait for Borderlands 2.

From what I've seen it makes me think of several games.
    1. Terraria (Obviously)
    2. Solar Jetman (Old NES game. Look it up, you'll be doing yourself a service!)
    3. Starflight (People say Mass Effect? Well Starflight is Mass Effect's great grandaddy. If you have DosBox, you want this.)

It reminds me of many games:
    - Commander Keen
    - Cortex Command
    - Diablo (because of the items with random stats)
    - Clonk (a German...uh...I can't describe the genre. Look it up on Youtube. I had years of fun with that game! Years!)
    - Terraria
    - Freelancer
    - Pokemon (because you can catch monsters)
    and Spore

EDIT: and Minecraft, forgot about this one^^
