What drops leather and is there a certain weapon to use to get leather drops?

I played sooo much during furious. Got the shiplocker/fuelstorage glitch and had to just wipe the slate clean. Now playing in smaller amounts, and on hardcore mode. The random game freezes (the 1sec+ shifts) are making my hardcore mode more methodical than it should be. So the small farming I'm doing is about at the pace I'm progressing ;D

 

I haven't done farming on my ship since angry koala... >< Since that was the last time I actually had most of my 3d printer full... That and i actually started out with making one on the ship, although not nearly as big as grimmturd's. I really haven't touched farming in a while... In furious my farm was on a multiplayer server, that was the only place I ever had a farm. I didn't play as much, since that is the time I started to work on a personal mod...

But it is the best idea for food. For leather that is just chance, as I mainly just use the knife & shield. Get enough for a full snow suit and put up the hunting knife. Might actually use it more if more things required leather, like in the mod I am working on. But generally I do enjoy farming, mining and exploring; so it comes naturally for me to have quite a patience when comes to these findings...

 

I used a hunting knife and got enough leather. Just what I needed.

 

I'm having the same problem. I've had a quest that requires leather for quite some time now. I've killed many hundreds of enemies using the hunting knife and hunting bow on a range of different threat level planets and not a single one has dropped leather. I'm on the nightly beta currently at Upbeat Giraffe - Update 2 Protocol: 666. Any ideas?[DOUBLEPOST=1423077818][/DOUBLEPOST]So the drop rate must just be super rare. I'm on raw meat #486 and finally 1 leather has dropped... It happened to be on a snowy planet threat level moderate around an eccentric star.

 

I'm not getting leather either. If you got 1 leather after 486 meat that's pretty dumb of the developers to do that unless it was a mistake they haven't fixed yet. I might have to cheat spawn some leather at this rate.

 

I'm using a iron hunting bow... twice around the world, and no leather.

Edit:Never mind, got some at last.

 

I got some in the end. Had to go to an extreme threat planet though. Knock down their health with your favourite weapon, leaving a smidgen of health left - finish with one or two arrows = leather...sometimes.
