What does getting beamed down feel like?

kinda. but progress is made from unlikely ideas many times.

This seems the most detailed and legitimate answer.

You would probably feel a severe burning sensation then die.
    Then you would be cloned.

If you are moving each electron individually that's not really any different than just recreating a new link on the other side with different electrons. Moving them as whole is what I don't think is possible.

This is all kind of moot though because the electrical soul you are talking about doesn't exist. It's true the vast majority of what we do and think depends on synaptic activity and a massive electrical grid in our brain, but these are very quick bursts that just send information from one cell to another. It's just a random series on/off signals, not a soul. Capturing a few of these information bursts and moving them into a cloned body would not make it "you." We are the hardware, not the software, as somebody else put it in this thread.

I have seen that experiment performed a few times. Quantum physics are certainly interesting.

    u don't feel a thing

cause its warp not beaming, you did not even move but the space and time around you u don't even see the flash of light or the effect

Depends on what kind of teleporting we are doing.
Are we disassembling and reassembling the molecules, are we creating an Einstein Rosen Bridge, are we just moving the space around us?
If we are disassembling, that would explain the cloning when you die. Those two techs are compatible. But you are just murdering yourself.

The descriptions sound more like an Einstein Rosen Bridge or moving space around you.

We are the hardware, yes, but you have to remember that those electrical impulses are what give us perception and allows us to function properly. We are what we have perceived. I agree it's not a 'soul', but that doesn't make those electrical signals any less important. Also, they're not simply on/off, we're not binary. Our brains/neural systems are much more like a quantum computer. This is why we can both think and perceive at the same time; our thoughts are merely simulations playing off in our brains for the purposes of learning and predicting.

It also wouldn't work with a few impulses, it would have to be literally be all of them.

Time isn't really a tangible thing, it's really more a measurement of quantum level activity. If you were to measure the distance from where you are to the moon, you wouldn't use millimeters, you would use kilometers. Seconds work similarly; we don't use planck time for normal measurements of time because it's simply impractical.

As for using wormholes, there are a lot of issues with that. For one, wormholes might very well be somehow involved in the unknown variables of quantum mechanics, IE something like quantum entanglement. If that was the case, using a wormhole to transport (or teleport) a person or thing would likely not work as we may imagine.

It is all moot though, since the core of this discussion is a video game in which our level of fuel efficiency is such that we can use raw coal for intergalactic travel, so anything is possible in that scenario.

I imagine teleporting feeling like one of two things:
    1) If you have experienced toilet water splashing directly against your anus; It feels like a spike of awful going right from the offended area up to your brain... now imagine your whole body is an anus getting splashed with toilet water.
2)nothing. you just end up somewhere else, and likely you would feel disoriented.

Getting broken down into information (what molecule is at what position and does XYZ), then sended to a point where the information is received. Then the information gets "coded" again on molecules (dont know how this should work at all... dont ask me on that) which are basicly entangled to your old location... Means you get broken down at Position A while you are build up again at Position B. Breaking down and rebuilding happens at the same time. So I guess you see you are loosing your head which gets relocated instantly at the new position shortly followed with the rest of your body... kinda disgusting...

How this feel? I give you a good example from minecraft and some absurd stuff. Imagine a steel pipe... I hope you can imagine a steelpipe, like a pipe from Buildcraft a Minecraft mod, not just square like... more round...

Ok you got the pipe now? Now put it on top of a deep storage unit of MFR full of cacti. Put cactus inside the deep storage unit, again it must be cactus. Now get an autarchic gate (those which can send pulses) and attach it to a wooden pipe which gets attached to the steel pipe. Put the pipe in the butt. Without lubricant. Ok the pipe is now in your butt?

Good now try to install the autarchic gate on the wooden pipe attached to the deep storage unit full of cacti. Got it installed? Dont set it to energy pulser yet. Now go and place a clock attached to a item duplicator (cheat item) plugged to a rotary craft Freeze Cannon feeding it with ice powered by a creative mode RC Coil. Got that? Good. Now setup a clock controlling the freeze gun so its shooting 1 iceshard into your face every second making you unable to move. Make sure the clock activates after 3 seconds after placing it. Also wire up a computer program with computercraft (self written) which always resets a jukebox to play a self created disc of Justin Biebers "Baby" over and over again.

Also while the steelpipe is in your butt: Get 20 buckets full of sewage. Dig a small pit near your. Put the liquid sewage in their.

So now you have that all prepared.

Now go ahead: Toggle the autarchic gate on your Deep Storage Unit to energy pulser.

Now you get iceshards into your face, you cant move and you get cacti put into your ass (not going to try this out before somebody asks). 2 Billion Cacti Stacks to be exact. And since you are immobilized you cant move.

Do it in a jungle where nasty small jungle spiders are creeping arround and it raises the fun by twice. Make sure you have a cheated in healer item from openblocks so you dont die. And dont forget. Use a headset and bondage yourself with whips and chains to your chair. Ask your ex-girlfriends new boyfriend after you told him some nasty stuff about you and what you have if you need help with the last part.

And thats exactly how Starbound Teleportation feels like ;)

Stepping into a rip in space, where from the outside you appear as a simple beam of light, and then stepping out again at your destination. Alternate dimensions are easily moved in relative to our universe, so if you step in the rift it takes minimal effort to shift you to your location.

Neurons are all or nothing, if they are stimulated they "fire," it is essentially an on/off or binary system. Our brain as a whole is not "binary" but the electrical impulses running through it are. Memories are a combination of neurons linked together, it is not the "on" signal they are sharing that is the memory, but the fact that they are linked. That last part is, ironically, something I had forgotten about when I was talking about quick bursts previously.
