What do you think needs to be refined the most currently?

    Disclaimer: I know its beta. I know its unfinished. My opinions are not significant if you don't want them to be. I'm just trying to get some input :3 Oh and, i love this game a lot, so i want to see it develop into something awesome!

    As of now, there are some pretty big bugs but i'd like to aside those and focus on the flesh of the game.
    I'm curious as to what the community of Starbound wants the most right now from the game, so I compiled a list of features of what I think are key issues to see what people feel should be polished first/best.

    1.game focuses around power building, not exploration
    -no reason to explore other than to find items to make you more powerful or efficient

    2.underground is boring
    -the only reason to go underground right now is to get ores, and you don't even have to go underground for that.

    3.progression system is not interesting
    -get iron to make boss summoner, kill boss to get next tier, get steel to make boss summoner, kill boss to get next tier; get to ruby to make diamond to make <insert next gen ore here> (i know they are not in order)

    4. methods of progressing are boring or grindy.
    -either traverse miles of uninteresting land for weapons, or spend time collecting ores for armor.

    5.technical and mechanical systems.
    -the only mechanical system, farming, is flawed and uninteresting.

    6. Combat system is not polished.
    -combat right now requires no thought to carry out.
    -no consequences for missing a shot, swinging your sword too far.

    7. there are no "areas of interest" to head to in all the galaxy.
    - not even other ships flying in space... kind of weird to see no interruptions when flying faster than light.

    So tell me, which of these would be the most important to you to fix to make the game more interesting right now?
    oh yeah, and please feel free to point out something else that might be an issue.

    Some of these are great points. Questions:

    1. Do you have any ideas to fix the combat?

    2. Wouldn't most of these be fixed by overhauling your first point?

    Also, as to point 7, although I voted for point 1: yes, please.

    When I wrote this I was thinking to use the energy bar as a stamina bar for melee weapons as well as guns: the weapons would bring down the energy usage and keep it down until they finished being used, then regenerate.
    This would make players consider their actions more carefully before making a move. I mean, it worked in Skyrim and Dark Souls, and those are both great games with interesting combat. I don't think you need to make something completely new to make it interesting.

    Huh... that would bring higher stakes and make it more than just slashy slashy.
