What do you *love* about Starbound?

A friend of mine attempted to convert a mp3 file into an abc, it didn't go well. Apparently an ABC file is a text file that uses letters and interprets them as musical notes: http://abcnotation.com/ and there's some large websites that already have quite a few songs, as well as some threads in the forum have some created and uploaded.

 

You hit a lot of what I like about this game that is different from Minecraft and Terraria.

After reading the lore thread (kudos to Incendiary for compiling those codexes!), I was blown away at how much work has been put into developing these interesting chararcters/cultures/stories for us to discover. It really gives the game A LOT of chararcter and flavor for players to work with and add to.

The inspection tool reminded me of the first MMO I played, Tibia, as well as a throw back to old style point and click adventure games. I love the flavor text, and even more so that it is race-specific! Little details and stuff like this is lost on most modern games.

But the potential that this game possesses is probably what excites me the most. This is only beta! I played early Minecraft and Terraria and they got better with each update, but neither were as interesting or as fleshed out early on as Starbound is currently. I really want to see how this game will be in about a year.

 

This is awesome, thanks for posting the link! Seems like songs won't be too terribly hard to make (assuming one can figure out the language behind the .abc coding). Also, I'll have to give the forums a look to see what other people have created.
