Without a single doubt the music :) I'm normally not one to care for in game music, because i nearly always turn sound off in favor for my own.
But in Starbound i simply adore it and leave it on the entire time.

I also really like the Avian race, i don't really know why, but i just love their sprite.

Haha, one of my first experiences underground was getting scared by breaking a wall and landing on a monster in total darkness!

So far, the thing I love the most about this game is finding all of those pre-made structures and cities that are scattered across some of the planets and moons you can go to. In the short time I've gotten to play it recently, I've already seen an Apex city, an Avian tomb and an underground military base of some kind! Those places make exploring feel so exciting when you've suddenly stumbled upon a civilization while just searching for some ore~

Especially when the dudes you find start shooting at you as soon as you open the front door!

Something else I just encountered (... what? I love this game a lot...) is when there's a pool of water with some fish in it, and you break or drop an object into the water, the fish will follow it for a moment before going back to swimming around. Kinda like they're checking it out or nibbling at it. I found it endearing. :D

I was going to make a thread like this but I figured it'd get buried under all the complaints. Hopefully yours will get a lot of replies. I'm glad to see some positivity.

I love the music in game. I also love that we can find instruments and play with a band of our friends.

I really enjoy building in this game.

I love that there's different races. Gives us more of a chance to roleplay our characters a bit. My floran has a huge garden.

I haven't gotten too far yet, haven't even made a set of armor yet, but I've racked up like 15 hours already just exploring and building houses. That goes to show how enjoyable the game is without even progressing too far.

The space theme. I love space games so this was a no brainer. It will help hold me over until Star Citizen.

The music! When I first started playing, I just couldn't get over how amazing it is! It's not annoying and repetitive like terraria's, and it's not dead silent in the game like minecraft. I feel like I'm on an epic journey when I hear it, and it sounds like they put a lot of time, effort, and money in to it!

I also love that I can go anywhere and do anything. I can build a massive base on a planet of my choosing, or I can haul things around like a hobo in my ship as I hop from planet to planet!

Pretty much said what I was going to say, the music is engrossing and the ideas in this game feel fresh.

I mainly like how expansive the exploration aspect of the game is.

I mean, you have a universe with multiple sectors filled with multiple solar systems filled with multiple planets/moons. Beyond that, each planet has randomly generated Biomes that are in the surface and ground. Even after playing this game for the time the beta has been out, I still have the occasional, "Ooo, what's that?" moment.

A more obvious reason to like the game is the music. I don't think I need to explain why either.

Finding stuff I haven't seen before. Like the peaceful avian village I came across recently that had a ridiculous amount of merchants, or the old glitch mining tunnel I found with a mysterious floating liquid.

I *love* the melee combat. Once you craft a really good broadsword and pickup Targeted Blink, melee combat opens up a ton. Blink into the air onto a midair enemy, hit em' with your broadsword once knocking them down, blinking again while they're falling and hitting them once again, killing them. You can perform some really awesome wombo combos with blinks that look fkin sweet.

As someone who has done Minecraft, went to Terraria and came back with each major update, there's a lot of things I -love- about Starbound.

-The lore, there's a lot of neat codexes lying around, and it's all -really- interesting, especially with all the stuff gathered so far here: http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?threads/starbound-lore.45322/
-The magtool, it's so convenient for placing blocks and having the same block to make backwall as well as the smooth placement of blocks compared to Terraria and your increased walking speed throwing off block placement. I can make ramps going down just holding the button, or using my jumps to place blocks while going up.
-The inspection tool. I love this thing, I love how the races have diffrent responses when you inspect them, giving you a lot more insight of the races just by how they react to things.
-With the codexes and the inspection tool, it has more story and character to it then Terraria or Minecraft did, and we're still in beta without the full quest line.
    -That soundtrack <3

I also have to say that I love how fast updates are coming. The devs really work hard to listen to the issues we have and then fix them or compromise so most players are happy :D

Today I was curious and looking over the forums and discovered you can take any .abc file, place is in the Starbound songs folder, and then you can play it on any instrument in the game. Better yet, if you're on a server they can hear it too without the files, and if you share the file your friends can join in too.

    That's.. That's just awesome.

The races, the fact that each one gives a sepperate reason for being out there in the verse alone. The art in general.

I remember reading this while I was researching the game before downloading the Beta. I haven't played around with it too much, but I found this super-appealing. I had also heard you could make custom songs to play, though that may be exactly what you said. Perhaps they meant you could save a custom song from an editor as a .abc and bring it into the game that way? Regardless, thanks for bringing that up; I had kinda forgotten this after getting caught up in the rest of the game. :D

    Hellaw,
I know this isn't the way it should be done, but I got some difficultés paying games especially when they are online, and just recently I discovered this game which looks just awesome, I didn't stop watching gameplay and reading threads, but I cannot play it and this is really sad... So I just wanted to ask if someone did have an extra key to offer me, I know I am asking too much bros... but I don't want to get such a great game... hum you know...illegaly, Thank you for reading my message and for understanding my disgrace...

    1.) The music
    2.) The building potential
3.) The fact that every time I have to restart my character, or even make a new one, it's a new experience each time.
4.) Finding biomes you would not expect to find under the planets surface.
5.) Supported Modding - Always a plus in any game.
