I named mine Resoi Det'nemed, obviously, Dementedioser backwards

Yeah, I had that happen as well. Not too sure if that means it can be changed or if it didn't take or what. Would be nice if we could get some confirmation from someone in the know.

My NPC name is Tahria.

Original character from my science fiction type story idea.

 

I Named mine Kindra Charlemagne.

 

I took my name from when I was playing runescape at age 10.
"No Soul King"
I thought it would be fun to see my own creation's name to live on forever spiritually in a game.

 

HAHAHA! I honestly would look forward to an NPC with a name like that. I'd find it quite hilarious.

Use several different names for my mmo chars........mostly Milia Ment, Barbaul (used to rp a dwarf briefly in UO - those days were lulzy - was a mix of two "dwarf names" I found), Kahzuud, and a few others.

Couldn't decide which to throw in the blender so I just tossed one I don't use much anymore --- Barzaul ;p

NPCs like that completely ruin immersion, they're reminders that not only are you playing a game but the community of that game is full of cancer. They keep you from getting lost in the game. The first time I come across an NPC with a ridiculous name like that, I'm brutally murdering it and modding all of the ridiculous names out of the name pool.

I on the other hand will merrily skip about Starbound and laugh hysterically at the funny, silly and downright nonsensical names people have added to my universe. I think they will add a touch of spice to an otherwise generic list of NPCs and will make the game light-hearted and a more enjoyable experience. I'm here to traverse the wilderness of space in a 2D environment with crazy weapons and races. It's a game, not a life simulator.

I get that you do not want these names in Starbound. Fine; that's your problem. Take it somewhere else.

Really? You're labeling the community of the game as being full of cancer because some people pick a name you don't like? You can't possibly be serious...

 

Though the more obviously ridiculous ones might mess with immersion a bit, I think that random unordinary names should probably be common considering this is a space adventure type game and you wouldn't expect people on foreign worlds to adhere to the standard naming conventions you are most used to.

But I still like traditional names and went with Boone Daughtridge. I'm hoping to see him pop up at least once in a let's play series' on YouTube.
