What did you name your NPC?

Yeah not really fun but it's not nasty either xd its just reference to a french thing but I didn't think that there as an equivalent in english

Because sitting on a chair with a mouse in one hand, a keyboard under the other and a screen in front of your eyes isn't going to be a constant reminder that it's A GAME.

 

Have you ever read a really good book, so good that you stop paying attention to everything else, and for just a little while the amazing story and world in front of you is all that you're paying attention to? I like to do that with games.

 

The game would come out by the time I got off my ass, made the money to pre-order, and actually thought of a name.

Well, the devs already stated that any non-sensical or trolling names will not be put into the game. They'll ask those who made such names to pick another one.

They don't want names like that any more than you do.

 

As others have stated, the Devs are going to sort through every name by hand to both sort them out and do quality control. I trust them to make the call on what fits or doesn't fit in their universe. Even then, it isn't too much of a stretch to think that some strange aliens go by weird nicknames, so even if some strange ones are submitted, they can easily be rationalized.

On topic, I named my NPC Sabbian, after one of my old WoW Draenei characters. That may or may not change, but I think that's a good name

 

I named mine "Elvis", not because that is what my name is, but because this is STARBOUND!!!!! This is a game about exploring space and other planets...and doing whatever the heck you want with them.
How can you have a space game like this one and not have Elvis show up?

 

Mine was just Eddy Belly since it's just a nickname sort of thing. I've guessed the name for NPCs could be nicknames too or space thing alias things or some such. Then again, being hunted down by Bounty Hunter Eddy Belly may not sound threatening...
May change it, I just like rhymes and obviously used something related to me so people who know me a bit better know it's me when they see it or something despite it's a simple thing anybody could have thought of. :B

 

I named mine "Vlad The Impaler" because well eh idk seemed like a cool name to name a randomly generated NPC.

Yes, I have, quite often. And the same with games and movies. But I don't lose interest in something or have trouble enjoying it just because there is a name in it that I don't like.

 

Ha, I called my Guide Dave. Good old "God Damn It, Dave!" the Guide. Aka, "Close the damn door, Dave!" the Guide. And who could forget, "Dave has doomed us all!" the Guide.
