Chucklefish should let people play all versions of starbound. Like Minecraft, they should let people test every version of the game from pre-alpha, to alpha, to pre-beta. It would let the community feel more a part of the development and also help make a better game, since the players could give their imput and help fix bugs before it becomes a major problem in the game.

If you think no, please post why below

Chucklefish should do what they want and not listen to the idiotic complaints of some random people on the internet.
They don't need that, they need to work on their game.

And how is this post idiotic. Doing this would help them work on their game. Wonder why minecraft turned out so good? Because the community was there giving suggestions the whole way. At least say why so think no, lest you want to be the idiotic one. This isn't a complaint, this is a suggestion.

Did you even read the 16 questions a dev took the time to answer that the community wanted answered most?

Yes, I did. I still think this would be great.

Minecraft turned out okay, of course this is a matter of opinion but I feel that the game is horribly lacking and just empty. There's like 5 weapons... Anyway, I believe that letting people play as early as possible (even pre-alpha) will just burn a lot of people out because of how lacking and bad the game will be. That's not worth it. Let the developers figure it out with a few trusted family and friends like they do and testing it themselves until beta, THEN the rest of us can play.

Thank you for actually explaining why you think no. I see your point and its a good one.

Minecraft's system works for Minecraft. Starbound is an entirely different beast, and I don't think it would benefit in the same way as Minecraft did from such a system. Beta for all pre-orderers should be well enough, and any YouTuber that's interested in Starbound has likely already pre-ordered. Chucklefish has also already made it fairly clear that they're fine with YouTubers showing off their game when the beta comes along.

Using the word should makes it sound like a command, not a suggestion. I'm not trying to say that you're idiotic, I'm just saying Chucklefish gets a lot of these sorts of threads all the time and I think they should focus on finishing the game before they do things like this.

"Finally, tier 1 is only partially finished, we're using a boss that's probably not even going to be the tier 1 boss. There's no side quests, nothing outside of the main tutorial line of quests. We don't have serialization stability. Party mechanics are only accessible via chat commands, as are much of everything else. The state the game is in is kinda cool to kick around in for about an hour. But it really isn't ready to be released to the general public."

    - The game still doesn't have a lot of content in it. As stated above tier 1 is hardly even finished and would probably allow for around a hour to a few hours. Horrible first impressions to the whole community.

    9. How do you feel about games that allow for a sort of alpha-release testing?

"If it works for them, great. I don't think it will work for us though. There's really two things that will keep a person playing this game, and keep excitement up about it. The ability to build worlds, and the ability to play story. Currently, we only have the first, and that's hampered by the aforementioned constant invalidation of save files because of serialization differences."

    - I for one want to experience the story the first time I get my hands on it and not have to keep redoing it since my save file wouldn't work for the next version.

"I'm worried about data/time loss. There's nothing more frustrating than losing progress because of a crash bug. I don't really care if the game crashes if you can pick up right where you left off, but if you lose progression, that's really horrible, and it's caused me to ragequit otherwise wonderful games."

    - Couldn't say it any better. I don't want to waste my time over and over and be burnt out on a game that will be great if you give the dev's time.

Let them deliver the game when they feel it is ready. The experience will be much better and you will thank them in the long run. That is my two cents.

Minecraft turned into a fucking awful mess of a game. And I personally am going to assume it was BECAUSE of the community suggestions.

At this point, Chucklefish simply doesn't need our feedback. This is a point in development where the focus is on adding and improving features, not testing. They know the features that they want to work on, and they already have a small group of alpha testers for whatever limited testing they do need. The only benefit would be that people would get to play the game sooner, except it'll be an incomplete mess that will break constantly.

It would be like having all your candy before dinner. I'd rather wait a bit and get a fuller, better experience.

That was just a teensy bit venomous. No reason to call suggestions, EVER, idiotic. Yes I disagree with his view, omni said that mode wouldn't work for star bound. I'm not going to flip my shit every time I see OP's and other similar views tho.
