What are your base floor plans?

My ideal home would be a Hobbit style home, built into the side of a gentle knoll. It would have a wonderfully crafted wooden interior, and would be perfect for hosting dinner parties. There will be spacious arched doorways, elegant floor and crown molding (with chair rails), a cozy fireplace, a grand dining room, and a plentiful pantry.

Underneath my lovely hobbit-hole would be built a massive network of bunkers containing the creations of my galactic plant domination asperations. In some compartments I would hold the genetically engineered Venus Maneaters, and in others I would store the "meat" that is meant to be served at my parties (a la Dr. Lecter).



That or just a really nice wine cellar. Either way, will you join me for dinner?

 

I don't usually draw plans for my bases, they just sort of grow as I want/need more room. I do plan to make an underwater fortress that is very unfriendly towards anything but me and whatever NPCs I need. Also, said NPCs will most likely be imprisoned in rooms designed around whatever theme that I imagine they should have.

 

Here is my perfect base layout.

If there are other ways of fast transportation between bases (i.e. teleports) - disregard transition shafts.
If you feel uncomfortable with the term "hellevator" pretend that it reads "mining shaft".

We will design a complex made out of cubes. Lots of cubes. Cubes are simple, yet very functional and diverse. Cubes.
Or we will perhaps try to recreate a giant, hollowed out Glitch where we will keep our base.

I plan on building my base on a island type planet with deep oceans. I will build a very tech base as I attempt to explore the depths of the ocean.

 

Hrum, haven't put all that much thought into it, really. I know I'm going to be Glitch because robots are best species. I'm probably just gonna rough it on my ship until I find a world that tickles my fancy, and go from there. My central crafting repository is gonna stay on my ship, so that it follows me in my travels instead of having to backtrack.

Heh, I have an under water "base" area on an ocean world. I have my main house on my home planet which has a staircase leading down to the bottom of the island to a hatch. When I exit through the hatch i use the Breathe tech from the EMF mission so I can breathe underwater, even though I'm a Hylotl. The base itself under the seafloor serves only has a place to regain health, craft a few things when I need to and mine Titanium and Gold.
