What are the benefits of a Home Planet?

I can set a planet as a home planet, which is a neat way to sort of bookmark it and come back to it at a moment's notice from the universe map screen (Sticky Note with Coordinates on it would work too ), but are there any other benefits for having a home planet?

And if not, should there/will there be any in future patches/releases?

For the moment setting your home is just a way of bookmarking a planet. From what I remember they do definitely plan on giving a lot more options for your home planet by release, like terraforming and such. I suspect they'll revamp the star map as well to give us bookmarks separate from the home planet thing, but it may be a while for any of this stuff. IIRC once that stuff gets implemented, setting your home planet will actually cost an extensive number of resources.
